Welcome to Coconut Row Guest House! Our beachfront apartment is right on the Caribbean beach in the heart of the Garifuna village of Hopkins, Belize.
We are located directly in the center of the village, within walking distance of all Hopkins’ restaurants, bars, stores, cafes, and other attractions. But you’d never know it while relaxing on our beach, which confers a high degree of privacy and solitude. Right next to the apartment lies beautiful shaded seating area under the coconut trees, perfect for a bbq or reading a book. Eat or drink all the coconuts you like - they're delicious!
The Casa Blanca is a two bedroom garden beach apartment. It is on the beach only 100 feet from the water’s edge, although it is set back slightly behind the Sunrise Suite, which obstructs the sea view from the doorway. It has a porch attached to the living area which opens to a bbq/sitting area on a private beach. This apartment has a kitchen area, a living area, and two bedrooms.
The first bedroom has a queen size bed, a shelving system, and a ceiling fan. The second bedroom has two single beds, a shelving unit, and a ceiling fan. The kitchen has a stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, all pots and cooking utensils necessary for meal preparation, a coffee maker, plates, glasses, silverware and a dining table. The living area has a ceiling fan, glass table and chairs.
We provide lounge chairs, beach towels and wireless internet free of charge to our guests, and there are laundry and transportation services available, as well as bicycles for those who wish to ride through the village. The beach is raked and maintained and the apartment is cleaned every day. We always have staff on the premises for assistance and security.
We offer transportation to/from the International Airport, Dangriga Airstrip or any other location. We can help arrange any tour or activity, and there is a lot to do!
Dive, snorkel or fish the world’s second largest barrier reef, explore the many Mayan ruins, hike through the rainforest and swim in spectacular waterfalls, go cave tubing or cave exploring, ride through the jungle on horseback, canoe or kayak down the river, learn about Mayan and Garifuna culture, go birdwatching, take a pleasure/snorkeling cruise on a catamaran, search for manatees… this is just a sample of the incredible number of things there are to do here! We can help you do them all!

Damian is from Upstate NY and moved here 10 years ago. He met his wife Nisha here and they had a daughter, now 3 years old. After working in the citrus industry for some years, Damian decided to try working for himself. Nisha left her teaching job to help him, and the rest is history (so far!)
I was living in the property next door, which my family owned. We had a very nice neighbor here; she was Belizean and had been a teacher in Chicago. She retired 30 years ago in Belize, before they had running water or electricity. Before passing away, she decided to sell the property to us.
It's so much better to be in the village than outside of it, where most of the rentals are! The people are friendly, there are stores and restaurants within walking distance, the bugs are much fewer, and it's a better atmosphere. Plus, our beach is amazing!
We loved our stay in the apartment. It was very clean and the perfect size for our family. Damion and Nisha are very accomodating and were very helpful in answering questions and arranging rides and excersions. We did ziplining and tubing down the Rio Grand. Whatever activities we wanted to do, they would set it up for us. The kids loved being only few steps from the beach. The town of Hopkins is fun and low key, good resteraunts and very friendly locals. We can't wait to return next year. Thanks for everything Damion and Nisha.
This was a perfect place to stay. It accommodated my husband, my friend, and I with plenty of room. Located right on the beach, it provided us with easy access for swimming, sun tanning, and BEAUTIFUL picture perfect sunrise views.
We felt the house was perfect sized with a large living area, comfortable air conditioned bedrooms and nice sized bathroom with hot water. The kitchen was provided with basic cookware to cook up your daily catch. It was cleaned by friendly staff daily.
It is located in the middle of town and within walking distance to local stores and restaurants. The manager was there to help us with anything that we needed and all staff greeted us with a smile.
I would highly recommend this place if you want a peaceful, private gateway. It has a wonderful location, good amenities, access to guided tours, and beautiful views without the prices of the resorts.
I absolutely loved my stay in Hopkins and can highly recommend staying in the Garden Beachview Villa. The village itself is great, such a friendly place and a wonderful place to visit - traditional Garifuna dishes (my particular favourite was hudut), lovely people, long beaches, incredible diving in the nearby Cayes, and canoeing in the lagoon....so plenty to do here! The Garden Beachview Villa is a perfect place to stay while enjoying the surroundings of Hopkins...the village is quite long, and the accommodation is perfectly positioned right in the centre. The owners are really great hosts, nothing is too much trouble! The apartment is clean, with everything you will need for an enjoyable stay. Hammocks in the grounds, lovely brightly painted chairs and tables outside to relax in...what more could one wish for! Thanks Damien and Nisha for a great stay!
I highly recommend this apartment as a base for visiting Hopkins. The apartment is light, clean and well maintained, and has everything you need to feel at home - by far the best accommodation we saw during our stay in Hopkins. Coconut Row is centrally located within walking or cycling distances of everything in the village. Its also right next to the beach, and there are hammocks and chairs outside to make the most of the view. Damian and Nisha were fantastic and could not have been more accommodating - they did everything possible to ensure our stay went according to plan. The rest of the staff were great too - friendly, helpful and always around if you need anything. Hopkins itself is an amazing place to visit - people are laid back and friendly and its a great place to experience the Garifuna culture, language and food. Loads of options for activities nearby including great diving and trips to the cays. Definitely the best place to stay in Hopkins!
Great value - wonderful facilities, helpful friend owner and staff. Highly recommend this if you are visiting Belize. This was our first trip to Belize and I was becoming overwhelmed by the wealth of information. Our efficiency apartment was great! It is well represented on line. Clean and well kept. Nice spots for sitting outside for a nice breakfast before you walk the streets of Hopkins. Within walking distance of a great pizza place, Driftwood (right on the beach and delicious pizza). Another great place to eat for good traditional dishes is Innies, run by 'Marvelous Marva'. We enjoyed the traditional dish hudut our first night there. Delicious. Across the street find Yu Gad Da Cafe. We had some excellent shrimp and a delicious dessert there. Lots of great place to check out all within walking distance. The owner, Damian, is a friendly man - very helpful in arranging activities. He arranged a zip-line adventure that was GREAT! Directed us to Emma at the motorbike rental and alternate adventure place who helped us arrange for a catamaran ride/snorkeling adventure one day and a very exciting adventure thru the ATM cave (google this, it is AMAZING!) on another day. We also walked up to the Hamanasi resort where we took the tourist SCUBA course one day, and did two approximately 45 minute dives at two different locations, about 40 feet down on the Barrier Reef. Lots to do! Lots to see! Everyone very friendly. Felt very safe. Highly recommend Coconut Row and Damian.
My wife and I had always wanted a vacation where we could just sit on the beach and do nothing.
Coconut Row had everything we wanted and then some.
Personal service at a drop of a hat.
Damian and Nisha were awesome!
The staff were great! Thanks to them all Benny,Robert, Smiley:) always there to help!
We found lots of things to do besides the beach, Zip Line at Mayflower,(5 STAR) Snorkeling,(5 STAR) (WOW) rented motor cycle,(5 Star) went to beach party!!:) Catamaran. We met so many people from all over the world and made some great friends.
The local people are so nice and welcoming!
This is not a big town, this a village! No stop Lights, No T-shirt sales, No Rush. Very laid back.
The best part was, doing everything on the fly, everything lined up as needed.
Things to know:
1) Buy your alcohol and ciggs at airport duty free
2) If you are coffee snob (like me) go to Thong Cafe- best coffee around
3) For motorcycles, go to Alternative across street from Thong Cafe! See Emma and tell her "The Mayor" sent you! And get a discount!
4) if you want to cook yourself you can but the restaurants around you are really good! Food prices at markets are high because of duty fee's, so eating out is cheaper.
5) BBQ on site and is nice but good fresh meet is harder to get. (everything frozen at market) ask locals for help to find the best. Local meat 2 star
6) Bring sunscreen of SPF 50 or higher, sun is very intense
Accomodations where great for the area (remember you are going to the 3rd world) But Coconut row is a true dimond in the rough!
