For a wonderful experience of unsurpassed natural beauty in the North Georgia Mountains. This creek front home is situated in a valley with beautiful mountain views in all directions.
We are only seven miles from the highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald, 4,784 feet above sea level. So much to see and do.Picnic on the creek by day, bon fire and star gaze by night.
Sit and watch the wild turkey and deer graze the valley. For the relaxation and stress-free comfort of our mountain home.
what a great place to stay-the house and furnishings are excellent.was a very special place to relax after spending all day riding the mountains on motercycles.
thanks for sharing your house.
Very nice house, with two complete full size kitchens. Three full size bathrooms. Real beds. This is a bargain. I could go on and on about all the positives, it is a really spacious house with all the amenities.
Only negatives: no cell service (this was actually a positive for me, there is a land-line phone), no wi-fi (again could be considered a positive, but I had work to do, so had to travel 10 minutes to McDonalds in Hiawasee). Also, we were hoping the large land area in the back was groomed so we could play football/frisbee/etc. on it, but it was not. Too tall of grass to run on. The kids were disappointed about that.
The owner was very nice and I highly recommend this property. It was a bargain, and all of us very much loved it. My favorite rental I've used.
Everything about this place is absolutely wonderful, . . . especially the owners!
We've rented a cabin for our vacation in Hiawassee every year for the past 9 or 10 years. This was one of our favorites. Here are a few of the features we really liked about this cabin:
- The owner was amazing! We had a family emergency during our stay. Without going into details, the owner did WAY more than I ever expected to accommodate us!
- VERY VERY CLEAN
- 2 DISHWASHERS!! One in lower level and one on main level (Many cabins we rented don't even have one)
- It's HUGE!!!!! "Real" beds (not foldout sofa beds) for 12 people.
- Two (one on main floor and one in lower level) of the best equipped kitchens of any cabin we've stayed in (spices, pots, cookie sheet, baking dishes, etc.)
- Non-stick cookware that was really non-stick and not flaking
- Ample parking (Truck, boat, mini-van and jet ski were no problem), and there was still plenty more parking!
- Land line phone with unlimited long distance (no cell phone service)
- 3 full baths (3 showers)
- Plenty of towels
- Smoke detectors didn't start chirping in the middle of the night because of nearly dead batteries
- Beautiful views and quiet area
I would definitely recommend this cabin to family and friends!
A few things to be aware of:
- Two beds are in the loft (one of the kings and a full I think) so there is limited privacy. My kids love'd it, but even if you're only renting the upper part, you still have access to 2 private bedrooms on the main floor.
- No Wi-Fi and no cell service at the cabin - land line only
As for nearby activities, attractions and restaurants, I don't even know were to begin. I will say this. My father-in-law grew up in Hiawassee and moved to Ohio when he was young. When I first met my wife, and she told me she went there every year to visit her family for their vacation, and I thought to myself, that sounds like a pretty boring vacation. I've never come close to being bored in Hiawassee. There are national forests, mountains and rivers all around for hunting, hiking and trout fishing. Lake Chatuge is in the middle of town, and there are several very nice golf courses nearby. Some of our favorite restaurants:
- Monte Alban
- Daniel's Steakhouse
- Starbuck's (inside Ingle's grocery store)
In nearby Blairsville, GA:
- Mike's Seafood Market & Grill
In nearby Hayesville, NC:
- Mika's pizza
- Rib country
My brother and his family, my Mom and my family all enjoyed staying at this lovely home. The home was very clean and nicely done. We enjoyed playing at the creek and had a lovely time reconnecting as a family.
We booked Almost Paradise for a weeklong vacation for three families. Six adults and seven boys (all under 15) had a wonderful time. If anything, the pictures and description of the property do not do it justice. The cabin is beautiful on the inside and out. The view from within the valley is beautiful as well. If you're looking to relax outside, the house has almost as much porch area as living area. The boys spent the entire time we were there wading and playing in the creek. There's also a fire ring and swing down near the creek for evening gatherings. The cabin is conveniently located between Helen and Hiawassee. Our families spent the week hiking to waterfalls, visiting the Georgia Mountain Fair, and tubing on the Chattahoochee and Nottley Rivers. It was truly a week to remember. The property owner, Marilyn, was always accessible. Before, during, and after the trip I was able to reach her by phone and email with any questions I might have had. She was extremely nice and helpful. The weekly rental rate has to be the best in the North Georgia mountains. The cabin is basically two houses in one, and it is set up perfectly for two families to utilize. In fact, two families could stay here and not even intrude upon each other. We were never really cramped with our three families. Once we split the rental rate three ways, we still had some money left to go out and eat and take the boys to do some things we might otherwise have passed on. I cannot say enough positive things about Almost Paradise. We loved it and can't wait to go back again.
I had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent cabin for a month. If you enjoy nature, fresh air, relaxing while overlooking a wonderful valley with a creek in sight as well as the occassional bunny, bird, or deer, enjoying the kindness of a small town atmosphere... this is the place to be. During my stay, I had the joy of hiking fifteen different waterfalls, seeing many deer, observing bunnies playing in the grass, watch a nest of birds mature and take flight, great food, and super relaxing evenings on the porch. It was truly one of the best vacations of my life so far. The cabin is well equipped, you will not want for a kitchen tool. Ingles market has everything you need if you wish to prepare your own meals or if you would rather bring home food already prepared. There are also some good restaurants in the area. You are on the cusp of Tennessee and North Carolina, which gives even more options for excursions. If you are looking for a true, relaxing vacation, this is the place to be! I look forward to staying here again as soon as I get the opportunity. If these things I have mentioned appeal to you at all, this is certainly a place you will enjoy.
The cabin is a great place to stay for any occasion. We arrived at the cabin to see what it was like, and we were very surprised with how awesome it was when we got there. I arranged the cabin for family and friends to stay over and enjoy a special weekend with me and my fiance to be. As graduates from Young Harris College, we were very familiar with the area and love spending time up there. I planned to propose to my new fiance on the Saturday. A few friends and family sat around the middle level kitchen and dinning area and enjoyed an awesome chilled out night in the cabin on Friday. We all were reminiscing about the good times we had at Young Harris College and were all very comfortable as the cabin has a lot of space and is very well set up. Everyone had a very comfortable bed to sleep on and the rooms were very spacious. On Saturday after a successful proposal, we had some more friends just visit on the Saturday to celebrate our special moment. The cabin could accommodate them very comfortably and the large outside porch was a hit with everyone. The cabin definitely helped the weekend be even more special than it already was. The owners were very accommodating and were always available to help when needed.
