This property was built in 1840 in historic Ansonborough. It is between East Bay and Meeting Streets. There is a private garden retreat for our guests.

The interiors are decorated with exquisite period furniture and antiques, comfortable chairs, rugs and art, making for a perfect vacation in old historic Charleston. There is a full kitchen to allow for cooking meals and a small eating area. All cooking and eating utensils and pots and pans are provided.

The Anson Garden House is the perfect Charleston get away, an exquisite gem in the heart of Ansonborough district, and old Charleston.

Very clean and comfortable apartment with all amenities.Lovely setting with private garden and easy walking distance to old Charleston historic sites.Convenient automobile access to other locations.Enjoyed the walks and meeting the Anson Garden House owners.Definitely our first choice on the next trip to this area. Parking not available at the residence.

Great room and perfect location

The room was well-appointed, and the hospitality of the owners (Barry and Sara) and the on-site managers (Barbara and Bob) was great. A bottle of champagne and chocolates awaited us upon our arrival, and there was a loaf of home-made bread in the fridge for us to enjoy. The location -- the back of a mansion -- was a two-minute walk from Meeting Street, and there was a Harris-Teeter grocery (with a Starbucks Kiosk) less than a minute walk away. Highly recommend the room. It was my wife's first trip to Charleston…and we'll be back!

The perfect spot!

Our stay at Anson Garden House was so perfect. Although our trip was a quick one we made the most of our time. With the location so convenient to everything downtown we didn't even move the car except when we left for the airport. The room and amenities at the guest house are all wonderful. There was nothing that would have made our stay more perfect, other than to have a few more days to spend in Chaleston and this lovely guest house.

Lovely Charleston Get-Away

My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights. It was a wonderful location from which to explore all the great sights Charleston has to offer. The apartment is small but extremely well-appointed with everything one could possibly need. The decor is charming with a canopy bed, dressers for clothing storage, comfortable sitting area & plenty of towels in the bathroom. While we didn't utilize the kitchen other than simple breakfast preparation, we could have cooked a meal if we were willing to forego Charleston's fabulous restaurants (which we weren't!). The convenience of being able to leave our car right down the street & to have the Harris Teeter grocery store steps away were added benefits. We walked everywhere from here & loved feeling like we were in a "real" neighborhood.

We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. The unit was extremely comfortable and stocked with every ammenity. We could not have asked more. Centrally located and we could walk virtually everywhere. The courtyard garden was wonderful. The owners were attentive to our needs.

The Anson Garden House apartment is within easy walking of the shopping on Meeting and King Streets, and restaurants and art galleries in the historic district. It is 2 blocks from the Slave Market. The Anson was the kitchen house for the mansion during the last century, and has been beautifully restored into this perfect apartment. There is a separate garden for our guests, to enjoy quiet moments relaxing in this exquisite garden. The Anson is really close to all the restaurants and bars along North and South Market Streets that front on the Slave Market, as well as FIG on the corner of Meeting and Hasell. We highly recommend the Thoroughbred Bar in Charleston Place lobby. They have an incredible signature drink with cucumber vodka, lime, fresh basil and fresh mint and a splash of ginger beer for a refreshing way to enjoy a conversation in our wonderful city.
