Clean seems to involve a judgment. Over the years I have learned that my clean and my neighbor's clean are different things. Obviously my clean and my children's clean are different----But spotless is an absolute. In our condo YOU are the judge. We leave our cleaning staff's checklist inside the condo for our guests with a message: 'This is the checklist that we left for our cleaning staff. We will call you shortly after your arrival to see if YOU are satisfied. We do not pay our cleaning staff until our condo meets your expectations!' Pretty simple concept....and it works!
-No worries here. We are retired educators who will be glad to provide you with references.

Stan and Marie are retired educators. Marie was a middle school and high school counselor, and Stan was head of the Humanities Department at the local college. While employed, Marie was selected by the Japanese-American Foundation to establish a sister school in Japan. We also hosted many Japanese students and college professors and teachers-in-training from Japan.
Stan and Marie come from very different backgrounds: a farm girl from Ohio and a city boy reared in the cultural center of Boston.
Retiring on the Outer Banks near their two grown children and seven small grandchildren, they have lived and worked for 30 years in North Carolina.
Both love to spend quality time with their family, engulf themselves in the beauty of nature or lose themselves reading a good novel. They enjoy attending classical music concerts and the theater. Just ask...They will be glad to provide you with references upon request.
Family is always first with us. We have a grown daughter and son...and 9 wonderful grandchildren
Marie Satz purchased this apartment in 2007
We took our first trip to Hawaii just after retirement and fell in love with the islands. We like Oahu because it combines quiet deserted beaches and active night life.
We looked all over the island to decide where we wanted to live, and the very center of Waikiki won.
After that we looked at every building in Waikiki. Our realtor says we looked about 4 times at every building in Waikiki. The Fairway Villa, for us, is the VERY BEST BUILDING.
We like the convenience of a washer/dryer in our room, roof top pool, and parking. In addition, it is in the very best location.
The friendly, quiet and festive ambiance of the building sold us.
Location, location, location. For us, this is simply the very best location on the island. We love to roof top pool up and away from the traffic and the panoramic views of Diamond Head, Waikiki, the mountains, and Honolulu.
We enjoy being just steps from the beach, yet with a private parking space, we can travel around the island to secluded beaches during the day, and be back in town to enjoy the night life.
We stayed in the Sunset Condo at the Fairway Villa for two weeks in November-December. We chose it via the internet as it had good reviews and we were not disappointed. The studio was well equipped with everything we could possibly need. It had a full kitchen with a large fridge, oven and stove top. The kitchen also had a blender, brewed coffee facilities, and even a rice cooker. The laundry was well stocked with its own washer, dryer bath & beach towels and cleaning facilities. The condo had Wi-Fi, Netflix movies, Pandora radio and more.
On the balcony, we found beach chairs, a sun shade and other beach/swimming equipment. The balcony was a great place to have morning coffee or relax at sunset and watch some of the fireworks on a Friday night or the mountain lights in the evening. The view of the misty mountains, golf course and river were lovely in the day time. The 360 degree views from the roof top, pool and BBQ area helped us get our bearings when we first arrived.
The third person slept in the fold out couch right next to the main bed. We packed up the bed each morning to allow more room to walk around the studio. Both beds were very comfortable for sleeping well at night.
When we arrived we received a message from the owners, Marie and Stan, making sure that we had everything we needed. They were most welcoming and gave us some great advice on what we could do while we were in Oahu. They also left very useful books and information in the condo so we could plan our time in Oahu, Hawaii.
We hired a car for three days and enjoyed the free overnight parking with the condo as this can cost approx $25-$35 US per day in Waikiki. The friendly security staff greeted us each day as we would leave and return to the building
We all loved the location of the Fairway Villa. We found it a short walk to the bus stop, beach and shops but also far enough away from the hustle & bustle as we were able to sleep with the windows open with very little disturbance from the streets. The building was across the street from The Food Pantry which we shopped for convenience, although there were cheaper places to shop for groceries that were not far away, we did not try them.
My husband and I would recommend staying here for either a long or short term stay.
This is an excellent studio - clean, quiet and centrally located to the beach, the bus, and a little grocery store. It's a good value if you're out for a longer stay and want to be able to cook. I've stayed at Fairway Villa a number of times, but this was my first visit to this property. I enjoyed having coffee and breakfast on the lanai and looking at the view of the golf course and mountains.
Food Pantry is right down the street, with a good selection of groceries and wine, and there's a bus stop out front of Food Pantry on Kuhio. Most of the Island (the tourist spots anyways) are easily accessible by one or two buses. I use a monthly bus pass to get around. You can buy one at the ABC store for $70.
The kitchen is very well equipped if you like to cook and there's also a barbeque on the roof top deck. The apartment and building is spotless, and the security keep a close eye on things. They patrol the parking lot, so if you rent a car it's probably pretty safe there. I was a solo traveller and feel safe in the building, and in Waikiki in general.
The apartment is close to the Duke statue end of the strip, if you've been to Waikiki before. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, short enough to haul a beach bag and the beach chair. I like to swim in the ocean and sit and read on the beach in front of the Moana Surfrider. There's a beach bar there that has afternoon entertainment, and you can hear the musicians play from the beach -- really nice listening to the guitars and voices if you're reading or watching the sun set.
Found the bed really comfortable (good mattress) and liked having Netflix and Pandora radio. Felt a bit guilty watching TV in Hawaii, but sometimes you need down time, and it's great if a tropical storm is passing through and you want to hole out inside for awhile!
If you're a nature lover or hiker, try to get outside to some of the great places. There's lots to see besides the tourist attractions. Some places are hard to get to without a car and a good map, but there's lots of good walks just off bus routes. Some of the hiking groups also welcome drop-ins and visitors (Hawaii Mountain and Trails Club, Sierra Club and so on). I've gone to some great places I wouldn't have otherwise gone to with some of the local clubs. I really recommend checking out Manoa Falls trail and Koko Botanical Gardens -- they're both something to see and easy to get to by bus.
I would like to express my gratitude to Marie Satz of Alohafamilyproperty for providing us with such a wonderful and well maintained property in Waikiki to vacation in.
The communications we received from Marie prior to our visit were professional and friendly. When you book over the Internet you can never be quite sure of what you will get but all the information Marie provided was accurate and honest. It was great to deal with the actual owners and not just a management company. Marie even contacted us (from overseas) after our arrival to make sure everything was okay and if there was anything we needed.
Marie's condo In Fairway Villa is in a great location right in the heart of Waikiki only about two blocks from the beach and close to bus and trolley stops but far enough back from the noise of the passing throngs of tourists. From the moment we walked into the foyer of the Fairway Villa complex we felt happy. The security guards at the front door, who observe security cameras of the building 24/7, were friendly and they gave us a sense of safety throughout our entire stay.
Upon our arrival we saw flowers decorating the door and basket of goodies with a welcome note was on the dining table. The condo was immaculate with attractive tropical themed decor. It was spotlessly clean and the cleaning lady should be congratulated on her amazing job. My husband almost walked into the glass door when we first arrived as it was so clear ... he wants to know her secret.
The apartment has wonderful views from the lanai of the mountains, golf course, Diamond Head and glimpses of the beach. The rooftop pool, sauna and barbecues are an added bonus. Although we didn't use it, there is also undercover parking provided at no extra cost.
The facilities in the condo are excellent, above and beyond our expectations, a home away from home with everything provided. It was great to have a washing machine and dryer, free access to the Internet, television and movie choices. There were towels, linen, stationery supplies, first aid and sewing equipment, beach chairs and boogie boards just to name a few. There is a small but fully equipped adequate kitchen With cooking utensils and dishes, crockery and cutlery.
I highly recommend this property. Fantastic.
Great condo in an awesome location - steps away from the beach and near a grocery (although we did most of our groceries at Costco- bonus for the included parking space). We enjoyed sipping coffee in the morning on the lanai (facing the golf course) and using the BBQ (rooftop) to cook our meals. The condo is on the small side (we were 3) but is comfortable and has everything you need for your vacation (and you're in Hawaii- you need to spend time outdoors!). Marie is a very good host- quick to answer if you have any questions and she is very organized (you'll find a binder with all the information you need to have a pleasant stay at her condo). Would recommend this place for any couples travelling and we would definitely like to come back again one day. Aloha!
My wife and I stayed here for our 2 week honeymoon. The condo is immaculately clean, includes a zillion amenities which you cannot find at a hotel (full kitchen, rice cooker, blender, in-unit washer/dryer, boogie boards, beach chairs, snorkels & masks, water shoes, floating tubes, etc.) Garage parking space is included with the condo which is extremely valuable, as it apparently can cost around $35/day in the area. Upon arrival there was a cute basket of goodies for us, a nice note, and flowers on the door with a welcome sign. Marie, the owner, called us the day after we arrived to make sure that we'd arrived and were settled and to see if there was anything we needed. She is the most diligent and attentive landlord I think I've ever met. The condo is very conveniently located right next to the hubbub of Waikiki, but is one block down the street, so nights are quiet and removed from the din of the crowds. It only takes a few steps to get to the beach, restaurants, and loads of shopping! On the roof of the condo building is a pool, hot tub, sauna, and barbecue grills! The building has a full-time front desk guard who literally watches security cameras 24-7, and every door is accessible only via key fob -- all this is to say that the condo feels very secure. The view from the condo is spectacular - we loved sitting on the lanai every morning with our coffee and looking at the beautiful mountains (including Diamond Head!), the canal, and the lovely Pacific Ocean! If we ever return to Oahu, we'll definitely be staying here!
We had the pleasure of staying in the Sunset Condo and it was not onny immaculatly kept and so well appointed, there were all the perks there as described in the listing description. The most important thing for us is cleanliness and comfort of the bed and this unit gets 100% all around. We hope to be back next year.
