The Beach Cottage is adjacent to our personal home of over 35 years on Staniel Cay. Still a small 'out island', Staniel cay's village atmosphere of small shops, stores, church, dining spots, yacht club and docks, and some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet will make for a very special vacation experience. Fishing and diving can be world class. Including the numerous surrounding islands and cays, you can swim with pigs, snorkel in the famous James Bond 'Thunderball Cave', visit Iguanas on a deserted island, dine at a 5 star resort, take a boat ride to the 'Exuma Land and Sea park' where the beach combing and snorkeling is fantastic, or just relax on the many surrounding unspoiled beaches.
The Cottage is just a little over 3 years old and perfect for the couple wanting to get away for a while. Described as an open, airy, tropical setting with a fantastic location and outstanding views. It even has use of a private, classic old bahamian dock 50 meters down the sand beach (obviously dock usage is at your own risk). The furnishings can include the bedroom with a king size bed or two twins.
Contact Nikki Ferguson, the on island manager for all your needs (golf cart and boat rentals, fishing outings, etc.). She will see you are met upon arrival and transported to the Beach Cottage, as well as making sure you get back to the airport on departure day.

Thank you Nikki! This was our first time on Staniel and it was a dream come true! We stayed at The Beach Cottage and it was paradise. Right on the water and beautifully clean and stocked. We didn’t want for a thing. It was the perfect cottage for us! Nikki made the reservation process easy and she and Monique took care of us from the moment we arrived on the island. We will never forget our first trip to the island and we will definitely be back next year! Thank you 3Ns! See you next year!
We booked the cottage for a week but due to a family emergency had to cancel. The owners refunded our money even though they weren't required to - they just did the right thing. These are honorable people and I would have no worries about dealing with them.
We stayed for a week at the cottage. We had Nikki provision for us. We also got a golf cart and boat.
We used the bikes a couple of times and they were in good shape. The kayaks were a blast too.
The interior was beachy. The shower was a bit small. The hot water was always there. The kitchen was stocked with most everything you'd need. The silverware was a bit lacking though.
When we came back at night we would watch the tv for some news. It always worked. The ac worked fine. The bed was comfortable. The couches were ok to watch tv at night. The shades in the bedroom are very sheer so it was hard to sleep after the sun came up. But who wants to sleep when you are in paradise?
We would definitely rent the cottage again.
My husband and I rented the cottage for a week. It was quiet and private feeling. We rented a golf cart and that was the way we traveled the island. The bikes were in good shape. We did use those once. We also used the kayaks. That was a nice amenity.
The bed was comfortable. The couches are good enough for the evenings you want to catch up on the news in the world.
The beach chairs were a great item to take in the boat we rented for the week. They have enough beach towels and bath towels.
We did have the cottage provisioned so we made food in the cottage. The silverware was lacking. Everything else was great.
My wife and I recently stayed a week at the Beach Cottage and found it a perfect getaway. Located on a quiet and secluded part of the island we still found accessing the markets and yacht club very easy on the cottage's two bicycles. The crystal clear water is literally steps out your front door and mooring a rented boat on the dock right next door (the owner's brother makes his dock available and he is also very friendly and helpful) makes this cottage a perfect launching point for daily adventures by boat. We were delighted with the cottage and would return at a moment's notice. If you are looking for a cozy getaway for two, this is as close to perfect as you can get!
We stayed at the yacht club but couldn't get a room for the entire time we wanted. Originally planned to finish our trip in the Florida Keys but decided to check Homeaway and Staniel "just in case". Boy are we glad we did, finishing up at the Beach Cottage capped a perfect vacation. We traded the hustle and bustle of the club for the peace and solitude of the cottage. Loved it! Cottage is as advertised. Beautiful location and stocked with amenities. In 5 days unless we left the property we only spotted another person once, and they were working on the house up the hill.
A/c worked great, bed was great, lots of towels for bath and beach, well stocked kitchen. plenty of games, tv was great but shame on you if you watch it a lot. WiFi....meh. It worked about half the time on and off. But who cares!!!! Bikes are in good shape and more than fine for getting anywhere on the island. May want to borrow a golf cart if you're going to be buying a lot of groceries at once but one of the bikes does have a basket. We had rented a cart for the week and really didn't need it with the bikes, especially for what they charge for a cart.
Really not a clean beach to speak of directly in front but go to the left maybe 50 feet and it's a good little beach. The other side of the dock is an even better one. It's on another property but I believe they're related and don't care.
Definitely rent a boat at least one day. Exumas around Staniel have a lot of neat things to see by boat. Very friendly waters if you're a novice boater. If not, hire a guide but try not to let the opportunity pass.
Kayaks looked to be in great shape. A might to windy during our stay unfortunately but we kayak at home so didn't feel compelled to go.
For groceries check all 3 stores. When they're open is hit or miss and they may have different items in stock from one week to another. Order bread from Rhonda over in the village (yellow house up the hill.) Coconut bread is absolutely fantastic. If you're there on a saturday they have the market be sure to try the donuts.
If you want to eat out you have 2 choices, Taste and Sea and the Yacht club. Either or, they're both great. A 3d place Big Dogs, is open for lunch only, unless they're open later, or closed, it's an island.
3 things that we would've liked to see. 1&2, reclining beach lounge chairs. the 3d would be a small cooler we could've packed with drinks and food to spend a day at another beach. (try Pirate Trap).
no mo room
the beach cottage was better than i expected in every single way - i give this my highest recommendation. it is the first vacation rental i have ever stayed in that was "undersold" - it was cleaner and prettier than the pictures could depict. there were only 2 or 3 other neighbors in the entire bay - we LOVED being on the quiet side of the island, a 10 minute golf cart ride to the yacht club. i am SO glad we didn't stay at the yacht club, this place was paradise, we got the best of both worlds. sunrise from the cottage is amazing - and there is an epic sunset spot about 1/4 of a mile away. we were there for 10 days, we rented a golf cart the entire time, and a boat from "fredricko" for a few days, he was an amazing tour guide and captain - we swam with pigs on major, sharks on compass, dove thunderball grotto, plus the exuma land and sea park, and fed iguanas on bitter. my husband also rented a jet ski, which he loved. the cottage comes with two kayaks and two bikes. the bay in front of the cottage has a plane wreck in 2-6' of water and just beyond the wreck is a channel with awesome free-diving / snorkeling. both locations are an easy kayak away - don't forget to take some rope to tie off. pack water shoes / water socks with a thin sole for easy jogging or walking. the kitchen had all the basics, wine opener & can opener!!! the bed was comfortable, the couches were comfortable - the wifi worked, the cable worked. the view, the breeze, the island were all incomparable - i cannot capture it in writing. the cottage has cards, uno, dominoes and some puzzles. we shipped in some vegan food to accommodate our diet. if i had it to do over again, i would also ship wine because the wine selection on the island was so-so and over priced. (i paid $45 a bottle for something bottles that would normally come in around $10). the shower was a little small and the heat of the water seemed to be intermittent but nothing i would complain about. everything was clean. nikki and her staff were amazing and helpful, there whenever you needed them. we flew to fort lauderdale intl - then we went through watermakers air for the trip to staniel - everything was perfect. relaxing, rejuvenating, adventurous, romantic. if you want to get away from the rat race, this will do the trick nicely - it was truly the BEST vacation!
The Beach Cottage is located on the south eastern side of Staniel Cay, Exuma. It sits about 50 feet from the waters edge, overlooking a spectacular protected bay with waters of every color blue known. Beach comb, swim, snorkel, fish, etc., right out the door. The Cottage is approx 1 kilometer from a small island 'village' where dining and activities can be had, making it very quiet and private.
Other Activities: totally relaxing or swiming and kayaking around the bay
