A wonderful and comfortable place on beautiful Carmel point. A real plus is that it is one house off Scenic so the house is quiet and hasn't got the traffic going by that the houses right on Scenic have to put up with.
Our family of 10 nested here in superb comfort for 5 nights during the Concours weekend. We were all adults, and since not all couples, found this large home very suitable and perfect for our needs with the many choices of bedrooms available. Cooked in every night, so great to find and abundance of extra seasonings already here. The space and light in this home are just wonderful, makes you feel good, the moment you walk in! The pool had the right temps for relaxing swim, salt water, great feel on the skin, lost count on all the quail families foraging and running thru. Some of us took beach chairs down the short walk to enjoy a book while watching the amazingly beautiful water and horizon - we always took long walks after dinner - never had we seen campfires on the main beach in all these years, what a sight! This home is a keeper! We all appreciated the love and care it has received by the owners, thank you, we shall return!
Provided everything our four couples and 18 month old needed for privacy and comfort. Beautiful condition throughout and owner answered all questions. Highly recommended, Perfect for a group of friends, Lissting photos were goof and very helpful.
We LOVED staying in this wonderful house. Everything we needed was right there. Our family celebration was everything we had planned. There were many things for our 12 and 4 year old granddaughters to do. The Monterey aquarium passes were put to good use. This is not to be missed and since the entrance fee is very high the passes saved us quite a bit. The location of the house near the beach is great. The Loves maintain this property very well. Communication with the Loves and their representative was outstanding. We would highly recommend this home to anyone going to this area.
We just returned from a week’s stay at this extraordinary home.
This site’s photos and description convinced us to rent it, but our experience far exceeded our expectations. We were 10 family members (6 adults and 4 children, 8-14 year-olds) gathered to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The house was fully equipped for cooking large meals including our barbecuing halibut on the propane grill and making pancakes on an oversized electric griddle. Because the house was so spacious, our whole group had meals in the dining room and patio, could comfortably sit in the living room, or watch the Miami Heat’s last two exciting wins over the San Antonio Spurs in the media room. Smaller groups played Scrabble (on the game table in the bow window), Bananagrams, and pool. The younger kids cavorted in the heated pool while we adults lounged, read, or chatted nearby. When the need arose, adults easily found quiet spots to join a conference-chat or nap or check in with customers. My husband and I asked that the grandkids leave all electronics behind, and they easily adjusted, finding other ways to occupy their time. The house was centrally located, so the Aquarium, kayaking, Peets Coffee, and the Monterey Fish Market were a short drive away. We were so lucky that the weather was gorgeous – sunny each day, but even if we didn’t have good weather, given the character of the house – we all would have had a great time.
The owner, Barbara Love, answered my emails promptly and was extraordinarily helpful before, during, and after our visit. For example, the architecture of this all-redwood house was stunning. In response to my email question, Barbara wrote that: “We have been told that the house was built by Michael J. Murphy who was very active in Carmel in the 20's and 30's. His homes are referred to as "Murphy Built". He helped build the Robinson Jeffers’ Tor House, and many of the details there are very similar to the ones in our house. Also, all the ironwork of the door handles, sconces and andirons were made by Francis Whitaker who owned The Forge in the Forest (the location is now a restaurant with the same name).”
This Carmel house was an amazing retreat for our group of 12 girlfriends! The house is clean, roomy, comfortable and beautiful! The location is perfect for walks on the beach, downtown for shopping and to the Mission Ranch Inn for a meal or refreshment. Lounging by the pool, cooking and enjoying time in the big living room was awesome and though the upstairs had a pool table and a TV room, we mostly stayed downstairs. There was plenty of room for our group to enjoy meals in the dining room and all the supplies we needed to make gourmet dishes. The owners were wonderful to work with and the house had everything as promised and more. We look forward to staying again and again with family and friends.
