Good Home for a Large Group
Submitted: January 8, 2013

We chose this property because it was large enough to accommodate our large group under one roof. However, for the price, we were disappointed in the location (it was not right on the lake) and we found the property to be in a state of disrepair and not very clean. The furnishings, cabinets and interiors of cabinets were dirty and worn. The light fixtures were full of bugs and the carpet in the main living area was torn to shreds. We have rented in the area before and it was not in the same caliber of luxury homes right on Panorama mountain. While this house was probably a beauty in its day, it has not been well maintained. The house had an indoor and outdoor fire pit, yet there was no firewood available. For the price we paid, we felt this was inappropriate that we had to go out and buy our own wood. Furthermore, we had to ask in advance to ensure that the house would have a Christmas tree for our holiday - this luxury home had a 2 foot mini in the corner. Having traveled at Christmas before, this was not up to par.

Owner's Response: Hi Cathy,
Thank you for your review. I regret the misunderstanding regarding the proximity of our home to the lake. As per all homes in the private lake community of Timber Ridge, the lake is accessed via private road. I assure you that our website is clear in that regard.
Our home was built in 2004 which makes it approximately 20 years newer than most homes in the Timber Ridge community, I appreciate you pointing out that the cabinets are worn, but please know that the dark, real cherry wood, is wearing only in isolated areas in the kitchen near high traffic areas; namely, the sink, dishwasher and coffee maker. Similarly, the area rug under that main kitchen table is frayed. We have purchased a new one and had hoped to replace prior to your arrival. We are working on having the cherry cabinets touched up.
With regard to your comment about the cleanliness of the light fixtures and cabinets, we take pride in our cabin and will be sure to instruct our cleaning contractor to do an extensive clean inside cabinets and fixtures. Thanks for the heads-up.
As for the Christmas tree. Being stationed in Calgary, we did our best to accommodate your request. I now wish I had the opportunity to haul out a tree and the area rug for you. But I assure you that I did not ask my cleaner to erect a small tree. I believe she did what she felt she could manage on her own accord. I assumed it would be a reasonably sized tree and did not think to give specific direction with regard to size. With regard to the firewood, yes, it would have been the right touch for a winter arrival. My sincerest apologies for the oversight and I will send you a rebate to cover the cost of what we normally supply for firewood.
As this is our second season at managing our property on our own, we appreciate your comments and will make the necessary changes to ensure that all of our guests have an excellent experience.
Thanks again for your input.
Sincerely,
Timber's Den
