MODERN APARTMENT IN FOREST SETTING WITH CHANNEL VIEW, HIKING

We chose this rental because it seemed child-friendly, and we were traveling with our two-year-old son. We stayed for a week and liked the location - it was very close to the awesome Project Playground and easy driving distance to everything we wanted. The apartment was in good condition and we appreciated that it was minimally decorated (less things to child-proof). The TV was huge and the owners provided a small selection of movies (including children's movies), but the cable channel selection was very limited. The master bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size. We had a couple of odd thing happen that affected our stay. The hand-held shower head broke, and was replaced quickly by the owners with an attached shower head, which made bathing our son a little less convenient. It was strange to me that there was dirt left around the bathroom after the repair (near the bathtub and on the counter). Smoke alarms started beeping very late at night because they needed new batteries, and there were no replacements available. It took us a while to figure out how to make them stop - they beeped even though the batteries were out and woke up our son. I ran into a bear as I was walking from the parking spot to the door at 8 am as it was coming around the side of the home toward me. We were a bit disappointed with the cleaning prior to our stay. There were dishes in the dishwasher and on the counter, dirty coffee grounds in the coffee pot and half-eaten food left in the fridge. The flowers on the counter were a nice touch. We expected to meet the owners, but we actually think they were not home during all of our stay. The apartment is downstairs from the owners, and we heard fairly loud continuous water running sounds through pipes in the second bedroom (where our son was sleeping). We think we know when the owners left, because the foot noises were extremely loud very early one morning. It was a bit uncomfortable because we saw a man doing something in the shed in his underwear and walking in front of the house in a bath robe. It seems the owners run another business, and there were men coming and going, doing yard work during nap-time, etc. There was also a lot of machinery noise from the building down on the waterfront in front of the house. We didn't sleep well in this rental, which other parents of two-year-olds know is important! I am glad that we stayed here instead of a hotel, but I did expect a bit more attention to detail for the price.

We had a wonderful week in Juneau at this apartment. The apartment was ideally located for us--not in downtown Juneau but very close. It was also a pretty quick drive up the coast to Auke Bay, the Mendenhall Glacier, and further up the coast, places where we spent much of our time hiking and kayaking.

The apartment itself was perfect--clean, spacious, well-maintained, and well-equipped. We prepared most of our meals in the kitchen and appreciated the new full-sized appliances, cookware, and dishes. The bedrooms were quiet with comfy beds and dark curtains (nice for the long days).

Nikki and Callen were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this apartment to others.
