Chattanooga Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Ocoee Cabin accomodates 2-4 guests nicely. Has bedding for 8 incl futon in lv rm

Visit Chattanooga, then get out of town and stay in a log cabin on the Ocoee River, just 45 minutes away. This beautiful cabin is located just 5 minutes from the Ocoee River Scenic Byway and entrance to the Cherokee National Forest. Our Ocoee Cabin is a two-story log cabin situated on the banks of the scenic Ocoee River. A cathedral ceiling and a 'wall of windows' provide guests with an unobstructed view of the river which is less than 40 feet from the cabin's large front porch. Interior walls and floors are finished with knotty pine boards to maintain the authentic cabin experience.

Our cabin combines the seclusion of a rustic woodland retreat with the luxury of beautiful furnishings and appointments. The focal point of the great room is a large stone fireplace with handcrafted log mantle. Directly across the great room from the fireplace, a sunken 2-person Jacuzzi tub sits in an alcove surrounded by windows, offering the ultimate relaxation spot.

Bring your favorite book, beverage, or maybe a guitar to the front porch and enjoy the serene environment. Guests have reported seeing river otters, ducks, beavers, eagles, and giant blue herons all tending to their business along the river.

The Ocoee House is a romantic and cozy retreat for a couple, small family, or you and a few friends. A private downstairs bedroom features a double bed made of logs. The open loft bedroom has a double bed, twin bed, and twin trundle bed. Additional sleeping is provided by a full-size futon with spring mattress in the great room. The cabin has one bathroom with a shower.

The cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook in, or you can venture out to one of several casual restaurants in the area with wonderful local flavor. Only 5 minutes away, the 'Ocoee Dam Diner' has earned wide-spread popularity for serving delicious fresh food in a fun and unique environment.

And if Mother Nature doesn't provide enough entertainment, the cabin has a 32' Samsumg flat-screen TV, DVD player, movie library, Sony CD player/radio with iPod dock, and games.

On our property, you can fish or swim from the riverside dock, play a game of horseshoes or basketball, explore our walking trails through the woods, or enjoy a warm fire under the stars in the outdoor firepit.

Offering 'the best of both worlds', we are located at the edge of the Cherokee National Forest, but only 45 minutes northeast of Chattanooga (via Cleveland). In the national forest, you'll find numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. One of the most popular activities during the warmer months is taking a guided whitewater rafting trip on the Ocoee River, site of the whitewater paddling events during the 1996 Olympics. Guests also enjoy tubing or kayaking on the Hiwassee River, pontoon boat rentals on Lake Ocoee, hiking, fishing, glider rides, horseback riding, ziplining, or taking a scenic train ride.

Then change the pace with a fun-filled day exploring all the attractions, restaurants, and shopping in the fabulous city of Chattanooga!

About Jenny or Kevin

Kevin and Jenny are both Tennessee natives and graduates of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. We have a 16 year old son, two dogs, and two cats. We love to play in our Ocoee Region and love sharing our beautiful Ocoee Cabin with guests.

Jenny or Kevin purchased this cabin in 1994

Why Jenny or Kevin chose Chattanooga

This location is absolutely beautiful and suits our lifestyles perfectly. The Cherokee National Forest is just 5 minutes away where we enjoy kayaking, hiking, backpacking, swimming, and mountain biking. We enjoy floating from the Ocoee Dam to our property in the summer. When we feel like a little city life we travel about 40 minutes to Chattanooga where we can enjoy shopping, great restaurants, the TN Aquarium, music and art festivals, University of Tennessee events, minor league baseball games, scenic river cruises, and so much more. Also, Lee University is just 20 minutes away in Cleveland and hosts numerous cultural and sporting events.

What makes this cabin unique

Many of our guests at Ocoee House enjoy the simple beauty of their cabin and surrounding, rarely leaving our property. We have 17 wooded acres where you can take a stroll, cast a line for trout or bass, take a swim, or just watch the river roll by.

Just worderful

  • 5 of 5
We rented out this little jewel, just for a weekend away from the city, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The ice and snow outside, and the warmth and coziness inside, made for a perfect combination of enjoyment and relaxation. We are looking forward to coming back in the summer, to enjoy the river and walk around. Just gorgeous.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Each season here definitely provides a different experience. With summer approaching we are dreaming about warmth and good times in the river. Whether you like to fish, swim, float down the river, or just watch the water flow by from our Riverside Pavilion and dock. The Ocoee River is dam controlled so it's character changes throughout each day. Typically in the mornings the dam is "storing water" and the river is slow moving and shallow (about waist deep along our property). You can see the bottom as well as fish swimming around. This is the best opportunity for playing in the water. In the afternoons when the dam releases water from the lake to generate power, the river becomes 3-4' deeper and moves more swiftly. When the water is deeper it's fun to jump off of the dock, but you have to be sure to swim back to the ladder rather quickly or you'll wind up downstream trying to find a good place to climb up the river bank to get out. When the water is moving swiftly, we walk the trail upriver, jump in, and swim/float with the current back to the dock. If you bring inner tubes (no one in the area rents tubes) you can drive up to the Ocoee #1 Dam and float back to our property in about 1 hour. Generally speaking, kids need to be big enough (about 12yrs) to be able to reach the water with their hands while sitting in a tube in order to paddle and maneuver around the occasional obstacles such as trees which fall over into the river. The current is strong enough that you don't want to get caught in something like that. A life jacket is a real good idea. I still make my son wear one and he's 16 now; I always wear one.

Birthday Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5
This was our second visit to Welcome Valley Village. Last summer we took the kids and rented The Pines, this time around it was The Ocoee House (just the hubby and me). Our stay, like the first time, was nothing short of fantastic. The property is not only beautiful, but maliciously managed. The cabins are far enough away from one another that there is a real sense of privacy. Having the river right outside your door was one of the best parts. We so enjoyed our stay that we are looking to book our third excursion. Welcome Valley is a wonderful place to stay, kids or no kids, for honeymooners, those who just want to get some peace and quiet, and for adventure seekers. The cabins are very clean, inviting, and absolutely charming. Weather one is sitting by fire, in the Jacuzzi, rocking in the rocking chairs out on the front porch, there is no way to miss the beauty and tranquility of this hidden treasure!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our cabin. Your pattern is a familiar one. Bring the kids during the summer when there is lots to do outside. Then come back in the winter with someone special and spend the day inside by the fire in pajamas with a good book and a few good movies. We appreciate you.

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5
Welcome Valley Village is an oasis of peace on the Ocoee River. My family and I have made lasting memories during our stays there. The Ocoee Cabin is a prime spot on the property for river access and scenic views of the river. You can literally count the fish in the clear water below the deck. More times than not have we changed our plans to take in the local scenery and Polk County beauty instead of heading back to the highway or nearby Chattanooga. The village has a way of slowing things down and transporting you to a pace that is hard to get to in any city. Bring your field guides and binoculars because there is so much diversity of plant life and birds. Kevin and Jenny are awesome owners and have a wealth of knowledge of the area's out of the way places to explore. Thanks for the memories you all.

Incredible Stay

  • 5 of 5
After planning for a vacation in the Chattanooge area for the pre-holiday season, we found Welcome Valley as a side stay in order to take in some of the Ocoee River sights and attractions. What we found was a fanatastic getaway with incredible accommodations(the cabins are all first class) and access to several acitivities in the Ocoee area(in addition to sitting by our own private fire place at night). I recommend WVV to anyone who is looking for a base for adventure or someone whi is simply looking for peaceful first class accommodations. WVV has it all! Thanks for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Ocoee Cabin. I'm happy that our cabin met your expectations. I remember that you and your family really enjoyed the Benton Falls hiking trail, and I'll say that it's even more fun when you can get in the water (Summertime!). There are other waterfalls and many more hiking trails to explore in our area that are just as easy to hike to as that one was. We hope that you come to see us again sometime.

Five Star Amenities & Service!

Five Star Amenities & Service!

This cabin nestled on the bank of the Ocoee River is the perfect getaway for couples, families or just a serene break from the hectic schedules of life! Living in Georgia, it is easily accessible with a short drive and located close enough to a freeway to make it a great weekend trip, getting us back home in time to start a new week refreshed and rested. Overnight bags and a sack of groceries are all that we need to have a relaxing break with the comfortable amenities and fabulous service from the owners. I have stayed here many times with friends and with family, most recently our family reunion. We took the opportunity to rent the entire "Welcome Valley Village" and I was lucky enough to get the Ocoee House. Adults, teenagers and small children all were in heaven with river rafting, hiking and generally communing with nature. We all loved it so much, we are returning this year and I cannot wait!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a guest review of this cabin. Repeat customers like yourself are especially dear to us. I'm not sure just how many new guests we have gotten from your personal referrals to friends and family, but it's been more than a few. That is the ultimate compliment. We love it here (we live onsite), and enjoy sharing our property with others. Also, no one knows our area better than us and we enjoy helping guests plan their activities based on their interests, abilities, and ages. We look forward to seeing you again in May.

The kind of place you fall in love with

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at the cabin for our one-year anniversary. We knew we would arrive fairly late, so we called ahead to let Jenny know. She was incredibly friendly and understanding, telling us to make ourselves at home when we arrived and stop by the office in the morning. It was dark by the time we got there, and when we saw the cabin we couldn't believe it was the one we rented for less than $150! When we got inside, we fell in love with it and immediately began talking about returning and bringing friends. The cabin is tastefully decorated, and while there are only a few rooms, the high ceiling made it feel spacious. Everything about the cabin made it feel cozy and emanated a sense of warmth. To top it all off, we woke the next morning to a wonderful view of the Ocoee River practically right outside our door. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night on our way to Alabama. We will definitely be returning, though!

Owner's Response: Thank you. We are happy that you are pleased with your choice to stay with us in our Ocoee Cabin on your way through our area. Maybe next time we will be your ultimate destination so that you can enjoy more of the activities available in our area. For example, that river which is so pretty to look at is also a lot of fun to swim in when the weather is warmer. We like to drive upstream to the Ocoee Dam and then float the river back down to the property in tubes and other floats.

Our Ocoee log cabin is located at Welcome Valley Village (WVV), near the Western gateway to the Cherokee National Forest on Highway 64, and is about 15-20 minutes East of Cleveland, and 45-50 minutes North and East of Chattanooga. If approaching our area from the west, or coming up GA Hwy 411 from Atlanta, you'll begin to see the mountains in the CNF getting closer and closer. You'll begin to see numerous adventure companies along the highway offering whitewater rafting trips, ziplines, and horseback riding. After crossing the Ocoee River, take your first left hand turn onto Welcome Valley Road and our resort is 2 miles on the left.

The Ocoee Region is popular with vacation travelers looking for outdoor adventure, scenic driving tours, hiking, mountain biking, boating, or a beautiful quiet spot to retreat to for some rest and relaxation.

Within 10 minutes of WVV you will find lots of lovely rural scenery, 2 grocery stores, several restaurants, a zipline, a corn maze, and nearly a dozen whitewater rafting companies.

Our area does not offer a lot of options for shopping but a few are notable to mention. Ms. Be's Purple Bus, on Hwy 64 is a neat place to shop for handmade necklaces, bracelets, bags, clothing, and beading supplies. Benton Shooters Supply, on Hwy 411 in Benton is reportedly the 'largest gun store in the south.' Also, every whitewater rafting company has a gift shop for local souvenirs.
