Grayling also boasts of Camp Grayling National Guard training facility. You may hear planes and/or choppers flying training missions near the lake, as the 'Range' is about a mile away. Sometimes artillery practice is heard, and sometimes we are treated to night sky flares. We are thankful for the training our National Guard receives here to defend our country.

Sisters- Friends-HOME! We grew up in this home, and it holds wonderful memories for both of us. We'd love to share it with you as well. Since we both live in the southeast part of the US now, we cant' just let this vacation home sit without anyone enjoying it! Allow us to share some of our family heritage with you. The home we grew up in, on the lake we love, in the peaceful woods that give us the roots in our lives.
Linda purchased this house in 1972
Why Linda chose Gaylord
This is our family estate home. Built by our parents in the early 1970's without borrowing, selling, or leaving a debt. A memorial rock is at the side of the yard area commemorating their respect for the beautiful woods and lake area we still call 'Home'.
What makes this house unique
We love the beautiful walks along the lakeshore, swims in the crystal clear waters of the sand bottom lake, and fishing in a rowboat or right from the shore. There is always time for a hike through the woods, watching for deer and other wildlife at the stump with the salt block in it, or enjoying the squirrels frolicking through the tree branches.
As a family we love game time, and movie time, a walk through the woods, and meals together. Whether you want to read, and be quiet, go fishing, or play in the lake, there is something for you to do at Guthrie Pines. Bonfires in the evening are so relaxing, and it is always fun to make s'mores! Or just relaxing in front of the fireplace inside in the rocking chair, if that fits your style more.
We have added a fire pit by the lake with log stools around it for bon-fires and making s'mores, or even roasting your hot dogs! It's a beautiful view at night, and a great place for making memories with family and friends.
Nearby state parks offer other interesting things to do, and the local festivities in the summer add great fun to the time, 'Up North' at Guthrie Pines. Nearby rivers (AuSable and Manistee) are famous for canoeing, and there are golf courses in abundance in the area.
This a beautiful seasonal place to go. The summer fun on the lake and relaxing is so pleasant. The hardwood and evergreen forests surrounding the house, make the Fall a beautiful time of year to visit. Springtime bursts with new life in the woods as the leaves bud and turn green. Sorry-winter is unique, but the house is not able to be open during the winter months.
Guestbook comments from the manager
We had such a nice time with our family and we saw the awesome protection of God as a huge storm blew over many trees. We were thankful to be together and had a great time making memories even when the power was out!
This is such a great place to stay. So homey, and nice. We highly recommend it!
