'Sunset Point', is a stately private home situated at the very end of a point overlooking a beautiful protected lagoon. Sombrero Country Club and golf course are directly across the water nestled behind a shoreline of lush mangroves, providing a natural landscape. The sunsets across the bay from the porch and pool area are spectacular.

Built in the temple style of architecture, the ground level single story structure is at once spacious and luxurious.Massive bronze front doors open into an impressive great room to include a dining area and sunken living room with gas fireplace. The vaulted ceiling is constructed of fine Honduran mahogany. Standing just inside the entrance, one can see through the opposing wall of glass to the huge indoor pool and the bay and shoreline beyond.

The dinning room will seat eight to ten guests comfortably, and the adjacent living room\ TV area will accommodate an additional eight to ten.

The large, completely renovated kitchen\ family room has granite counter tops and all stainless steel premium appliances. This kitchen is fully equipped with the best of knives, utensils, cookware,a commercial blender,and numerous other electronic conveniences. Doors open from the family room onto the outdoor porch as well as to the indoor pool . The porch is home to a gas barbecue and a stunning set of Lloyd Flanders all weather wicker furniture and cushions . The adjoining indoor pool is surrounded by a wide tile patio and seating area, and further enhanced by a border of tropical planting. The vaulted Honduran mahogany ceiling completes the picture.

The five bedrooms , bathrooms,and den are redecorated using only the finest of beds, mattresses, and bathroom fixtures. The master bath has a walk in shower and large tub with a walk- in [ handicap ] door. Most bedrooms have new HD flat screen TVs.

More than an acre of landscaped grounds surround the residence; the lawns are a lush green and meticulously maintained. Over 800' of seawall encompass the property, and a high stucco wall and iron entrance gate keep the property secure and private. An ideal vacation retreat, 'Sunset Point ' offers ample space for a family reunion or special function.

The indoor pool is equipped with a basketball hoop, which provides great exercise and almost limitless entertainment. Sombrero Beach { within a mile from the house } is equipped with bathrooms, showers, as well as two volleyball courts. All these amenities, as well as the beach itself, are meticulously maintained by the town of Marathon, and are a great meeting place for guests of all ages.

'Sunset Point ' situated directly on a large lagoon, encompasses the entire end of a peninsula and possesses an unobstructed view of Sombrero Country Club and golf course..the completely renovated residence has arguably the finest full size

indoor pool in the Marathon area. This extremely private house is walled and gated and has over 800' of waterfront.' ,' A regulation shuffleboard court provides hours of entertainment for all ages.

Our family has vacationed in Marathon for many years and when the opportunity arose to purchase this house which we had always admired, we took it. The area is reminiscent of the islands with a relaxed, informal lifestyle. There is plenty to do in and around Marathon, the fishing is fantastic, and the kids love it.

' Sunset Point ' is a private little kingdom secluded behind it's walled entrance.The Sombrero Beach location is certainly the best in Marathon for a variety of reasons. First, the fantastic Sombrero Beach itself with its bathrooms, showers,and two volley ball courts, is only one mile away. Secondly,it is centrally located; only a short distance to supermarkets,restaurants, and shopping. Additionally, Sombrero Beach is one of the finest neighborhoods in Marathon.

All that and more

Our group consisted of an 80+ to a 4 year old. A mother, 2 sons, 2 daughter in laws, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great great children. The point is we had plenty of folks and plenty of room, the house was everything advertised and more. There were no surprises. We caught fish from the sidewalk, had easy access to highway 1 to reach the places we visited. If you have pool heated remind them before you arrive as it took 3 full days for the pool to get warm, but that was a minor issue considering how wonderful Jim and Tudor were to deal with. If we return with a big group we would not hesitate to rent this house again.

wonderful Thanksgiving

Our first time renting a house abroad was a great challenge, moreover as we all were coming from different parts of the world. We wanted to spend Thanksgiving with our sons and daughter, daughters in law and grandchildren. Ages ranging from 4 months to 62 years had to be accomodated perfectly well The house was superb, it just had all we wanted, We spent a wonderful week at this beautiful house and garden.

Unprecedented Accommodations

Everyone involved agrees that it was the perfect choice. The house itself is located at the end of the street so auto and foot traffic was non-existent. The grounds were larger than expected, and beautifully maintained, and the house could not have been better furnished, laid out, or equipped.

The common areas were big enough to accommodate the entire household but the layout facilitated a more intimate feel when breaking off from the rest of the group. We could easily have 3 or 4 separate groups spread out and still feel as though we, practically, had the home to ourselves.

The indoor pool was amazing. It was big enough for an elaborate pool party and also offered the children a wonderful failsafe in the event of inclement weather. The doors to the pool would beep when opened (child safety), in furtherance of the well equipped and thought-out design of the home.

All in all, you could not go wrong with this home. If I had a complaint I would mention it, I don't.

Large relaxing estate

We stayed at this property with two couples and 5 children. There was plenty of room, the décor was wonderful, the indoor pool was amazing. Mark (the property caretaker) was always available if we had any issues. We have stayed at several places over the years in the lower Keys and decided to go with Marathon Key and we were definitely not disappointed.

What a great vacation! My children ages 12,10 and 8 could not get enough of the pool. The house was very well kept and beautiful. We will be back!
