BEACHFRONT VACATION CONDO~LOWER LEVEL~SOUTH SEAS ISLAND RESORT

Captiva Island Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps up to 4)

Enjoy picturesque sunsets year round from the screened lanai overlooking the blue Gulf of Mexico and long walks on the uncrowded beach of Captiva while residing within the gates of South Seas Island Resort (formerly South Seas Plantation).

Located in the highly desirable Beach Villas at South Seas Island Resort, this property has a wonderful view of the Gulf of Mexico. This specific unit was chosen so as to not have any pool area directly in front of the unit, where the surrounding plantings could obscure the view. The view is superior to many of the higher up units.

This property is very well equipped and you will find most of the accommodations of home. Some of the amenities included are; fully equipped kitchen, full size refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, separate bedroom with king bed (pull out in living room), coin laundry (down stairs), stereo with ipod and mp3 attachment, 2 flat panel TVs (42' living room & 20' bedroom), cable TV with HBO, hair dryer, Iron, Ironing Board, free WI-Fi internet connection, plantation shutters, and ceramic tile flooring (carpet in bedroom). There is an elevator, but you may not need it since the condo is on the first level, up only one flight of steps. This particular unit was chosen for the prime ocean view without having to go up and down additional steps every time you go somewhere.

*NEW UPGRADES THIS YEAR*. We have replaced all the flooring with new 20” porcelain tile throughout the unit. The air conditioner has also been replaced. And the list of improvements from last year is as follows. The Bedroom window has been replaced with a double pane, vinyl frame, hurricane approved window, which significantly reduces the occasional noise from the Beach Villas breezeway. Very few Beach Villas have gone to the expense of this upgrade, but my guests are worth it. Kitchen and dinning table ceiling light fixtures have been replaced. New ceiling fans in the bedroom and on the lanai. The dated wall paper and wall mirrors have been removed and the entire unit has been freshly painted and decorated. We have Plantation Shutters for the porch. Each year we examine and implement what improvements can be made in an effort to achieve the highest satisfaction from our guests. I do my best to keep my property up to date giving my guests a fresh clean feel. Remember, I vacation here too.

Captiva is a sub-tropical barrier island off the coast of Fort Myers, FL and enjoys fine weather year round thanks to the moderating waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The island is about 5 miles long and there are no traffic lights. There is a four way stop sign in the Village. Golf carts are permitted on the roads at the north half of the island. You will not find any high rise hotels on Captiva Island. There is a $6.00 toll at the causeway bridge to get onto Sanibel/Captiva, which reduces the amount of traffic coming onto our islands. There is plenty of free parking at the condo.

Our condominium complex has 3 heated pools, tennis courts (for a fee) and BBQ grills along with other amenities conveniently located nearby and available for your use. We have provided two 7' Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas and Tommy Bahama beach chairs for your use. We are also within walking distance (1/2 mile) to the Captiva Village where you will find several restaurants with entertainment and shopping. Several of the restaurants have live music nightly for your enjoyment. During a one week stay you could easily eat dinner at a different restaurant on Captiva without eating at the same one twice. Necessities like bikes, cribs, strollers and other items can be delivered directly to your condo by local businesses.

Once you get to your condo, you could easily not drive anywhere for the entire week. Just remember where you put your keys!

Getting here is easy, yet you will feel like you are worlds away, typically in just about an hour from the Airport. From I75 exit 131 and Southwest Florida International (RSW) take Daniels Pkwy west (follow signs for Sanibel, Captiva and beaches), you will bear left onto Summerlin Road to the Causeway and onto Sanibel Island. Once on Sanibel follow signs to Captiva. Once on Captiva follow the road to South Seas Island Resort on right just before the road ends.

**A Note About South Seas Amenities

South Seas Resort Amenities are NOT included. Those amenities are the 9 hole executive golf course, the pool complex 2 miles north of our property (we have our own heated pools at the Beach Villas), the trolly, the restaurants also at the north end of the resort by the pools, the gym and the resort beach chairs and umbrellas (we have provided two 7' Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas and four Tommy Bahama beach chairs for your use in the downstairs owners closet). There is not daily maid service, but it is available for an additional charge. Per state law, there are no private beaches in the State of Florida, so you may put up your beach umbrella and chairs anywhere on the beach that you desire.

You may be asking yourself why you shouldn’t reserve a property directly through the resort. The answer is simply this—we provide an equivalent unit and atmosphere that the resort does, at a much reduced rate. You also get to see the pictures of your unit here on VRBO. The pictures that the resort publishes may not represent the unit that you are renting, because all units in the Beach Villas are individually owned. Really...check out their rates! And then send me an email or give me a call.

Please give us a call with any questions. We would love an opportunity to share our piece of paradise with with you!

* I will do my best to get back to your inquiry in a timely manner.

* As noted above, the unit sleeps a maximum of 4, which includes children, due to the owners association rules.

* Typically our property rents for one week or more. On occasion we will rent our property for a shorter term rental (5-6 nights), but that is primarily during the off season and with last minute arrangements. I also prefer a Saturday check in or check out.

* Please try to give as much advance notice of your intention of renting my property. Unfortunately, my work schedule does not always allow me to make arrangements with short notice.

* Until booking is complete, prices are subject to change without notice.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Loved our stay at this condo. Extremely clean and all the amenities of home. Especially loved the beach chairs, umbrellas and push cart to get to the beach. The ocean is a short walk and the pool area was very relaxing. Can't say enough about the owners who were very helpful with places to eat and things to do. We would definitely stay here again.

I grew up in the Rochester, NY area and have lived in Syracuse, NY, Greenville, SC, Marietta, GA and now call Acworth, GA home with my wife of 26yrs. We enjoy going to a quiet beach where you can go for long peaceful walks or lounge under an umbrella with a good book. We bring our Paddle Boards with us, and have been from one end of Captiva to the other on the water while encountering various types of fish, Dolphin and even Manatee. There are also plenty of sea birds including Pelicans, Osprey and Heron often hunting for their next meal. I make a living as a Laser Engineer where I transport, operate and service a mobile laser for Lasik eye surgery.

Mike Callahan purchased this condo in 1978

This property has been in my family since 1978 which was the year it was built. The particular unit was chosen for the best unobstructed ocean view without having to go up and down additional steps every time you go somewhere. As you can tell from the photos, the view from this condominium is better than many of the higher up units. It was purchased for the unique feel of seclusion, remoteness and the closeness with nature. The islands have maintained the feel through the years due to the limited commercial build up. Being located in southwest Florida also provides a better chance of swimming weather, even in the coldest of North American months.

Many in my family have vacationed and honeymooned here, including us. There are lots of wonderful memories. We hope that you too will soon have memories to cherish for years to come.

When staying here we feel like we are a million miles away from everything. It is so hard to leave and go back to reality. We are close enough to the village to walk via the beach or the road where we will go for breakfast, lunch and dinner unless we decided to eat in since we have a fully equipped kitchen. We can be sure that we will have had a relaxing and enjoyable vacation when we stay at the South Seas Beach Villa. Even though we work hard to make the condo a nice place to stay, please get out and enjoy the unique scenery of Captiva. That's really what it's all about. Be sure to click on the video link at the top of the listing to see exactly what my unit looks like. I can also send you a newer video from this past May that shows some of the upgrades to the unit.

GREAT LOCATION AND COMFORTABLE LIVING

  • 5 of 5
This condo was well equipped and had beaufitul views of the Gulf with gorgeous sunsets. Also, lots of wildlife to view, dolphins, osprey, pelicans. Of course there many mandatory Captiva shells on the beach, a brief walk from the condo.
The pool was perfect since the gulf was not yet quite warm enough for a swim. We highly recommend this place.

2014 WINTER GETAWAY

  • 4 of 5
My husband and I enjoyed our week in Captiva while staying at this beach villa. This unit was clean and well equipped. The unit appeared to be recently updated and was furnished comfortably for two guests. The beach was only a short walk and the chairs and umbrella were appreciated. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Location allowed for walking to local restaurants, although there are no dedicated walking or bike paths in the immediate area.

Owner's Response: We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are continuously looking at potential improvements to our unit and already have some in mind for this Fall. I too think it would be nice to have dedicated bike and walking trails, but the island is so narrow in spots that I don't think it would be possible. Fortunately, the speed limit on the roads is 19, 25 or 30 mph and most drivers do obey the speed limit. Lee County PD is quick to issue citations for speeders. We hope you can come again.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for a week after visiting Disney World the week before. This was the perfect place to visit after all that walking. We've stayed at South Seas before through the resort, but this was much better (and a lot less expensive)! We had all the comforts of home. Mike and Sheila thought of everything. The beach chairs, umbrellas and cart to get them to the beach were great and easy to use. The condo was beautiful, and the kitchen was well stocked. We cooked several meals in the condo, and ate outside on the lanai overlooking the water. They recently remodeled and everything was really nice. Bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. The ocean water was too cold to swim in, but we took advantage of two of the three heated pools. We walked to Doc Fords Rum Bar & Grill and loved it. Would definitely recommend this place, and we would like to come back when it's a little warmer.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind remarks. We are always trying to make our unit better and we seem to always find something to improve upon. I guess that's the way things go when your heart is in it. We certainly hope to have you back as our guests in the future.

BEST BEACH WEEK

  • 5 of 5
Great Gulf view! Easy walking distance to cafes, stores etc. Comfortable large bed, very clean, nicely laid out condo and furnishings. Used the grill and beach chairs and umbrellas with wheeled cart made the 50yrds to beach very easy. Walk to lunches/dinners was a real plus for us.Evenings in screened lanai with fan was always enjoyable to watch sunsets over the Gulf.

WONDERFUL ISLAND CONDO!

  • 5 of 5
This one-bedroom condo was perfect for our January vacation! The weather was gorgeous, upper 70's to low 80's (made even better since the temps back home were below zero). It sounds cliche, but we did take long walks on the beach every morning. We spent time relaxing on the screened-in lanai during the hottest part of the day (with our iPads and the wifi availability), then used the condo's beach chairs and umbrellas to sit on the beach in the afternoons. Dinner restaurants were just a short walk up the beach - the Key Lime Bistro was our favorite (very good live entertainment). We did not use our car except for a drive into Sanibel to pick up a few groceries. Mike, the owner, was extremely helpful with both the reservation process and making recommendations for restaurants and activities on the island. I highly recommend this condo for couples who want a relaxing winter get-away!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments and thank you for being our first VRBO guests! While we have rented the property out for years, only recently have we decided to try this web site. Our goal is to have guests that want to come back and visit South Seas Beach Villa 2412 again.
