We Had A Wonderful Time Here

Four of us recently stayed at La Canada del Norte. From the minute we got there it was evident that the owner and manager had gone out of their way to make visitors feel welcome. Greeting us were little baskets of candy and other goodies in the kitchen, and complimentary soaps, shampoos, etc, in all the bathrooms, as well as lots of literature about things to do when visiting the Tucson area. The place was clean as a whistle, and the property manager was out cleaning the already-clean pool the day we got there.

We spent our days exploring the Tucson area; we went to a couple museums (Sonoran Desert Museum and Arizona History Museum, both of which I recommend); checked out the University of Arizona campus, drove around some of the Tucson neighborhoods, and one evening went up to the Westward Look hotel/convention center, which boast a really spectacular night view of Tucson. Some nights we just kicked back at the hacienda, grilled something good for supper, and enjoyed the cool breezes on the back patio.

We enjoyed very much the really spacious bedrooms at the hacienda, and the fully-equipped kitchen was a delight to use. The bathrooms were all supplied with plenty of clean towels and washcloths, and the large front room and living room offered lots of books, games, DVDs, TV, and other entertainments. The landscaping was beautiful, and the backyard and pool area were a perfect place to relax after being out and around in the 95-degree Arizona sun.

Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy seeing small lizards running all over, mourning doves and quite a few hummingbirds, and desert hares, among other local creatures; and late at night, several geckoes make their appearance out near the front porch ceiling, hunting for bugs.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was obvious that the owner and the manager really care about providing their guests with everything needed to make their visit a memorable and pleasant one. I will recommend this place to many of my friends, and I will certainly be back to La Canada del Norte!

PS: We met the owner there, and he gets up and boogies!

Nice place to stay

Every thing was fine. We were nine and add plenty of room. Even thought the road in front of the house was under construction during our stay, we still enjoy been in the back making BBQ or being in the pool.

Best we've found in Tucson

My family still talks about the great time we had at the Hacienda! There was plenty of room for all to enjoy a great family reunion -- spacious inside and out. We were extremely pleased with the roomy kitchen -- plenty of storage space, dishes, elbow room for whoever wanted to cook. In Oct the pool wasn't warm enough for everyone, but some braver ones jumped right in. It was great to have the patio area and the opportunities to grill outside. Beds were comfy, and plenty of tvs -- though we didn't have much time for that. :) The staff we worked with were most gracious and helpful, assuring us if we needed anything to just call. We were free to enjoy ourselves, and that we most definitely did!! We all agreed that this is the home we want to return to as soon as we can agree on dates. Thank you SO much for allowing us the use of your cozy home, and for being so very helpful as we made arrangements. We most definitely recommend this hacienda to anyone looking for a hassle-free stay in Tucson!

Great home to stay in!

We stayed at this home with other relatives for a week during my son's wedding. It was spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed -- and then some. The caretaker, Ken, we very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to help us be comfortable and learn about local weather, animals, restaurants, places to see, etc...

The pool was a hit as the weather hot 110 while we were there. Pool towels were included. We made good use of the BBQ grill, the kitchen, dishwasher, large fridge and coffeemaker. Fresh fruit and some snacks were on the counter when we arrived.

The owner is a collector of some eclectic furniture and wall hangings. There were tons of DVDs and VHS movies to view on a large LCD TV.

If you stay in Tucson I would recommend a visit to the Sonoran Desert Museum for sure. Mount Lemmon was very interesting--but be aware that you might not find an eatery that is open up there for any consistent hours. Gates Pass is a must for a sunset, and the Mission San Xavier del Bac is well worth visiting. Bring lots of water wherever you go.

No Anchivies is a fun "sports bar" pizza place with the best pizza I have tasted -- especially the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes pizza. We had great Mexican food at Casa Molina (nice dining) and
El Guero Canelo (inexpensive dining). Both our rehearsal dinner at El Parador and the wedding reception at Mountain View Country Club were excellent.

People with disabilities would be fine here. There is one "hump" to get over in the master bedroom doorway, but a wheelchair should be able to navigate it it fine.

Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities

Several members of my family from MI, MA, and NJ gathered at the LaCanada home for a wedding in Tucson. We found the accommodations to be excellent: clean, light, plenty of space to move around, a lovely pool, and a most friendly property manager named Ken. We would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Tucson.
