I have lived and worked in Pagosa Springs as a realtor since 2002. I grew up in Ohio, relocated to New Mexico after college, and then moved up to the cool pines of Pagosa Springs. I love the climate (yes, even the snow!) and the small-town friendly atmosphere.
Peggy Andrews, Independent Real Estate Broker purchased this house in 2003
I purchased this log home on 10 acres because I wanted some space and needed some room for my dogs. It is a great place with easy access from Highway 84, and just a quick 5 minute drive into downtown Pagosa Springs. My 2800 square foot home has a 1000 square foot 'annex' which is my rental property. It has a separate entrance, is totally private, and very quiet.
I love to watch the horses grazing in the pasture next door in the evening. Many deer also traverse the property, plus numerous birds are attracted to my feeders year-round.
We have 3 dogs and always have a hard time finding pet friendly lodging other than a La Quinta. The property has a large fenced yard for the dogs. The owner is a very nice woman and very accomodating. Our dogs tend to get super excited when they're at a new place, but she was patient with them. She has dogs of her own and loves them as much as we do ours.
The property is beautiful. It is 5 miles or so from town, but we enjoy being away from the hustle & bustle. And the drive to town is very scenic.
The area was in an unusual heat wave while we were there. The only downside for us was there were no ceiling fans. (But we are from a cool area therefore used to cool/cold weather.)
Our stay was great! We enjoyed visiting with the owner and her dogs. And the neighbor's dog will walk with you and give you the grand tour.... after he takes a dip in the pond!
We plan to stay again the next time we go to Pagosa Springs.
My family and I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was nice and cozy, it is a little outside of Pagosa on a large lot so it was nice to not have condos right next to you. This place is a duplex and the owner stays next door, she is very nice, I would suggest a chain lock or sliding lock between the two living area just to make the guests feel a little more secure. We were able to take our dogs with us since there was a gated outdoor area for them. My little dog was not able to run free out there since she is little and could fit under the gate, just FYI in case you bring little dogs that like to wonder off. The place was warm and comfortable. Could use a little more sitting area since we used the futon for the kids to sleep there is only one recliner for movie watching. Would be nice to have a separate TV in the bedroom so we didn't have to negotiate with the kids on what to watch and that would solve the seating issue. Kitchen seemed well equipped, didn't use it too much, the only thing missing that I could think of was a toaster. Overall great place especially for the price. Will use again.
We had a simply wonderful time. The cabin is quite spacious and comfortable, while quiet and set back from the noises of town. We had more than enough room with our toddler and our dog, and additionally, loved the fenced-in pet run that was accessible from our back door. Plenty of land to run and play on, and the owner was more than generous with various & sundry winter supplies.
Owner is on-site, very friendly, and readily available with any questions or concerns you might have.
We hope to return this summer!
We stayed here for four nights between Christmas and New Years, and it was a wonderful, quiet place to stay, just a few miles from the hot springs and right across the highway from the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park. There was plenty of space for the four of us and our dog, with both a large living room with a fold-out futon bed and a large master bedroom.
We did experience a couple of problems during the stay including a circuit breaker that didn't like the hair dryer and the bathroom heater running at the same time, but the owner happened to be on-site in the main house, very helpful, and extremely friendly.
We will definitely be back this summer when the weather is warmer for some hiking, horseback riding, and of course the hot springs!
Pagosa Springs is a year-round outdoor playground, with activities ranging from hiking and biking to winter sports like skiing, snowmobiling, and snow-shoeing. After a great day in the mountains, enjoy a soak in our world famous Hot Springs!
