Not at all what it seems

I would not recommend anyone stay in this “lodge”. First of all, this is a old home that has been turned into apartments and this is just one unit of it. There was a hastily barricaded doorway in the kitchen that separated this rental unit from another apartment. The cigarette smoke seeping through from the other apartment and throughout the first floor of the house is awful. Secondly, this house is dirty, run down and does not resemble the photographs. The towels and bedding looked and felt like they were 20 years old, the heating units only work in some rooms, the shower was moldy, there was ripped/stained tissue paper covering the fluorescent lighting, tacky decor (looked like all the decorations were picked up at goodwill and just scattered around the house) and the “amenity” baskets in the bathrooms contained half empty mini bottles of mouthwash, shampoo and lotion. Overall this was a huge disappointment and I would not stay here again.
Owner's Response: The proof is in ALL the reviews
Sharyn and I are truly sorry when a guest is not pleased. We take it very seriously and have learned from comments in the past how to improve. We aim to please our guests in every way. We have had the nicest people from all over the world and thankfully we have many return guests. We both have Masters in Fine Arts and therefore the house has only original art and is not the expected "white walled" look. The photos done by a professional photographer, who also does photos for Sotherby Real Estate, are accurate. This 1924 "arts and crafts" home with natural woodwork has been on the tour of houses in Saint Paul and is featured in a book of Saint Paul homes. There is one small apartment on the rear of the house, where we live.
We worked tirelessly for Obama and had a very large Obama sign (2 ft x 5 ft) on the side of the house. During this guest's stay, this sign was removed from its place and tossed down an egress well. We believe that this message may also have been what they are saying in their extreme comments about the house. The house is spotless. The linens are quality. The hot water heat works and maintains the house at an even 72 degrees. We noticed the smell of cigarette smoke for the first time ever after these people departed, so one wonders how it got there. They also paid for our fee for one dog, but brought two. An unfavorable review is always painful, but we recognize that people are free to say whatever they want. We hope you will take the time to read our other reviews which our guests have been kind enough to offer
