OWL'S HIDEAWAY
Wilson, Wyoming
You will feel the warmth and charm of authentic Jackson living in this 3 bedroom/2 bath lovely property. Our home sits on an acre of land surrounded by spruce, lodge pole pine and aspens. MOOSE and DEER often roam the yard and the Master Bedroom has a MAGNIFICENT VIEW of Sleeping Indian and the Gros Ventre Mountain Range. The property is CENTRALLY LOCATED at the base of the Teton Range one mile south of downtown Wilson; minutes from world-class Nordic and back country skiing off of Teton Pass, and only 15 minutes to either the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort or the Town of Jackson.
Our home has a large, cabin-feeling kitchen and eating area that is often where most visitors congregate. The dining room table accommodates 6 people and there are 3 stools for the spacious counter area. You will enjoy 'nights in' and inviting new friends to enjoy this welcoming space. The kitchen is fully equipped and a washer and dryer, cable television and high speed wireless internet are provided. There is no land line, but your cell phone will work fine. In addition to the central heating, there is a wood burning stove in the living room that you will enjoy cozying-up to after a day in the mountains. The three bedrooms are very private and comfortable. New, fresh linens await you in each room. The Master Bedroom has an open loft type of entry, with a queen size bed, relaxing loveseat, balcony, extraordinary views of Munger Mountain, an over-sized walk-in closet and private bathroom. The second bedroom is cozy with wood walls and ceiling and has a Queen size bed. The third bedroom has a Full size bed, a queen size sofa sleeper for extra family members, and a deck. Moose often winter in the trees just outside of this room, and can be easily viewed through the six oversized windows. Deck wraps around 3 sides of the house, with plenty of outdoor and indoor living space. A large parking area is available in front of the house (snow plowed during the winter months). We are very child-friendly and have a high chair and Pack-N-Play available for use upon request. However, we are a NON-SMOKING household (both inside the house and on the property premises). So if anyone in your party smokes, this is not the property for you.
Just a 3 minute drive from the house is the Town of Wilson. There are two places to eat in Wilson, a popular bar, the post office, a bank, a general store, and a shuttle pickup for the ski area. Nora’s Fish Creek Inn serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is particularly well-known for its breakfasts (though you may want to pick up your coffee at the bagel shop beforehand). Pearl Street Bagels (also located in town on Pearl Street) serves great bagel sandwiches, sweets and homemade soup. Hungry Jacks General Store is truly a “general store”, selling basic grocery items, some winter clothing and select gifts and cards. The Stagecoach is a popular local bar for both the Wilson and Jackson crowd, with bluegrass music and country dancing on Sunday nights. Wilson Backcountry Sports will have most any sporting item you need.
Seven miles from Wilson is the Town of Jackson, with dozens of restaurants, shops, bars and Albertson’s, Smith’s and The Hole Grocer (large selection of organic foods) grocery stores.
Jackson Hole is a year round resort area. During the winter you can snowboard, downhill, back country and cross-country ski, snowshoe, and snowmobile. We are ideally located 15 minutes to Teton Village or to Town. Grand Targhee Ski Area is a one hour drive over Teton Pass for a mellower, powder-filled skiing experience. Outstanding cross country skiing is available 3 minutes 'up the pass' at Trail Creek Ranch. Or, back country skiing is very popular off the top of Teton Pass. You can take a snow cab or snowmobile into Yellowstone, which is 70 miles north of Jackson, and have a day of gorgeous scenery. Dog sledding, winter ecology tours and lots of wildlife viewing (elk, moose, deer, coyotes, eagles, bison and occasionally wolf) are also local activities. Just outside of Jackson is the National Elk Refuge, which you can tour, and see up to 5,000 elk wintering there. Our world class National Wildlife Art Museum is also just outside of town and there are many outstanding art galleries throughout Jackson.
In the summer there is also plenty to do – hiking, cycling, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, fly-fishing, rock climbing, and golf, just to name a few. The house is only 15 minutes to the south entrance of Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park is just 90 minutes away. The weather in the summer is in the upper 70's and lower 80's during the day and in the forties at night.
