Lewis and Marilyn are two accountants from Florida. They built cabin by the falls as an escape from the busy lifestyle they have in South Florida.
Marilyn Olmsted purchased this cabin in 2011
Lewis has loved Packwood since he was knee high to a grasshopper. According to his baby book, Packwood was the first place he ever visited!
We love to hike, camp and be outside! Packwood is the perfect place to launch our adventures.
Marilyn's love affair began on the first trip to Packwood back in 2001.
Together they enjoy getting back to nature and the down home people.
To say this beautiful home is a cabin is an understatement. It's a well appointed, beautifully designed home in the woods. My husband and I spent 4 nights with 2 other couples in the Olmsted's cabin, with plenty of room to "breath", yet still be able to enjoy the common area as a group for games or watching movies.
Amenities: Everything was as described, plus Marilyn has thought of everything you could want for cooking meals at in the great kitchen in the cabin.
Maintenance/cleanliness: The cabin is very well taken care of and very clean
Marilyn was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns that I had. Her typical response time via email was less than 2 hours.
A couple of tips:
* All 6 of us didn't have a single bar of cell service the entire time we were in Packwood (At&T and T-Mobile) - print your stay details out in advance so you don't have to rely on cell data!
* Throw blankets are in the ottoman in the living room
* The internet is a bit slow, especially if multiple devices are using it at once
* There are 2 great trails directly behind the cabin
In short, everyone loved the vacation and we'll definitely book the cabin in the future if we find ourselves considering the area.
We had a wonderful stay w/our friends in this beautiful home celebrating life! So convenient to Packwood and the annual Packwood Swap Meet and Sale. The kitchen was divine....we made every meal at the house over the 3 days. So many special touches and amenities....loved the Jacuzzi tub, fireplace and beautiful setting. A great get-away!
We were so pleased with the home! A wonderful experience. The only issue is the advertisement noted a Jacuzzi and we made a decision to select your property based on that assertion as we both have arthritis and Jacuzzi every day at home. We discovered the Jacuzzi as disconnected, upright against the house. This was the only disappointment in our stay. If we had known there was no functional Jacuzzi, we would have chosen a different property... :(
The cabin at the falls was a great place for me and my family to spend Thanksgiving! The large kitchen is FULLY stocked with all the gadgets and appliances you need to cook a huge meal. The house was super clean and cozy and the setting was serene. I'd highly recommend this rental!
This rental was perfect for us and our 4 kids. The house is beautiful with lots of designer details. The pictures did not do it justice. The wood burning fireplace was wonderful and the gas fireplace in the master bedroom was a treat. The master bathroom was fabulous! The kitchen was fully stocked and the free wifi, Netflix and selection of movies was handy. The location was close to the downtown area and a short drive to play in the snow. The owners were helpful and friendly. We would recommend renting this home and look forward to staying there again in the future. Thanks for the memories!
As a family, my two sons and their wives, get together annually for a weekend of family fun. It always evolves around food, games, walks or hikes. This was a perfect choice. It was a very beautiful cabin with very nice amenities. It has a big kitchen, dining area and family room which accommodated the six of us nicely. We took a hike right from the cabin, no need to drive 30 minutes to a trailhead. We enjoyed sitting on the big porch, soaking in the sunshine and taking in the beauty around us. We would highly recommend.
