The vacation house Agistri is a large, modern 7-room vacation property, built in the traditional island style. It has a 240 m² open-plan living-area on the idyllic island Agistri, in the Saronic Gulf. From all the 5 balconies, you can enjoy the fantastic view upon the Saronic Gulf, the neighbouring island Aegina, upon the Peleponnes and Salamina. If the weather is good, you can even see the Acropolis. Even in the summer months, there is not much tourism. It is a quiet island, but fully available and with charming sandy beaches and cliffy bays, with many water sports activities, and with possibilities for hiking. Agistri is not typically Greek. It is throughout green, with pine tree woods and olive groves, and it can be reached several times a day in only 1 hour by the sea bus from Piraeus/ Athens or by car ferry.

Our 7-room vacation house can be divided into 2 separate apartments, with separate entrance. There is a 5-room apartment that covers 2 floors and a 2-room apartment on the upper floor. We will describe here the apartment downstairs. It has 160 m², 3 balconies, a terrace in front of the kitchen, with walled lounge, and a big terrace in front of the house, with palm trees, fountains, and a big barbecue on charcoal. In the basement, there is a large living room (with lounge and open fireplace), a dining room (which can also be used as an extra bedroom), a very big, fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with bathing tub, shower and WC. The second floor has 3 bedrooms (parents’ bedroom, guest room with desk, children room with loft bed, 220 x 100 cm). Each room is heated and has access to the balcony. All the 3 balconies have wonderful sea view. The rooms, the balconies and the kitchen terrace have marble floor. Most of the doors and windows have protection against insects.

Our house is located on a hill, in the idyllic village of Metochi. There are about 30 further houses, built in the typical island style. From the port Skala you can reach it in 10 minutes on foot, or by one of the island taxis. Behind the house, the Agistri typical pine tree woods unfold themselves. In front of the house, there is an unbelievable panorama over the entire Saronic Gulf. You can reach a beautiful, sandy beach in only 5 minutes, but there are also many bays and cliff beaches in the close neighbourhood of our house. The village Metochi itself has a somehow isolated and separated from the port Skala, but the shopping center, the bakery, the butcher’s, or the exceptional taverns can all be reached on foot without any problems. For further island trips, you can rent bikes and scooters. You can of course go hiking on Agistri. Trips to Athens, Aegina, Poros, Hydra or to the Epidauros-Festival are possible daily.

  • Both bathrooms are tilled and have marble floor. There is 1 bathroom on the first floor and 1 on the second floor, both of them have bathing tub and shower. In the bathroom on the first floor there is a washing machine, as well as domestic economy paraphernalia in a corner (drier, vacuum cleaner, electric iron, etc.). The warm water supply comes from the sun collectors. If the sky is clouded for a longer time (this almost never occurs in the summer, fall and autumn), the water is heated by the oil heating system.

There are built-in closets with enough storage room in each bedroom, as well as central heating for the cooler winter months.

Notes: The house with 2 apartments was finished between 1996 and 1998, and it was first meant for private usage. It is very large, finely decorated, and individually furnished. Thanks to the higher location of the house upon a hill and thanks to the pleasant wind, the house is not unbearably hot even in the summer. The refreshing coolness in the summer is also provided by the marble floor, which also keeps the house warm in the winter time.
