ASPEN SKI LOFT AT BEECH MOUNTAIN - 50 STEPS FROM THE SKI SLOPES

Beech Mountain Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths, Sleeping Nook In Lower Level, Sleeps 6, 3 Queen Beds

The 'Aspen Ski Loft' is a cozy cabin with floor to ceiling windows which provide amazing long range views of the Appalachian Mountains. Elevation 5,200 feet. Home was totally renovated in Autumn 2010. In 2011, new ceramic tile installed in lower level to replace the carpet. In Autumn 2012, carpet replaced in bedrooms, along with new windows. Also in Autumn 2012, the lower level ceiling, walls, and beams were freshly painted, and the exterior steps and decks were painted with a high-traction coating.

Main living area has living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Master bedroom has a queen bed, with private bath. The guest bedroom has a queen bed. Lower level is finished with a den, sleeping nook with queen bed, and laundry room.

Living area has a rock hearth with a wood pellet fireplace that keeps the house toasty warm. The wood pellet fireplace is controlled by the thermostat on the wall. With the touch of a button, you can have a real wood burning fire in 10 minutes. There is also a flat-screen LED TV with digital cable and DVD player above the fireplace.

The house is located approximately 50 steps from the top of the 'Lower Shawneehaw' ski lift. You can literally walk across the street, strap on your skis or boards, and start skiing

Description Cont. : Although the road is maintained by the Town of Beech Mountain, the house is located right across the street from the ski slopes. Therefore there is blowing snow that accumulates on the road. A 4-Wheel or All-Wheel drive vehicle or snow chains are recommended during the winter months.

Summers are cool, quiet and lovely, with time for shopping, hiking, whitewater rafting, golf and swimming, as well as Tweetsie Railroad and Emerald Mining for the kids. In addition, there is Grandfather Mountain, with its mile-high swinging bridge and the wonderful Highland Games, which are held each summer.

During the autumn, all types of festivals are held in the surrounding ares, including The Wooly Worm Festival in Banner Elk, and the Wizard of Oz weekend are both held in October.

Beech Mountain is the highest incorporated town east of the Rocky Mountains. During the winter months, you have access to all the wonderful winter sports, including downhill skiing, tubing, sledding, ice skating and cross-country skiing. There are three other ski resorts located within a 25 minute drive.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is located just 15 miles from Beech Mountain, offering a beautiful 2 hour drive to Asheville, North Carolina.

Access to Beech Mountain Club - Golf, Tennis, Swim: Guests of the Aspen Ski Loft have access to the exclusive Beech Mountain Club, with access to golf, swimming, tennis courts, and the Fitness Center. Contact the owner of the Aspen Ski Loft for more information about access to the Beech Mountain Club.

Should you want to eat out, several great restaurants are very close by, whether it is a 10 minute drive into Banner Elk or 17 mile drive to Boone. For a small fee, guests have access to the Beech Mountain Club, with 18 hole Golf, Golf Clubhouse, fitness center, private restaurant, Children's Day Camp, tennis, Olympic pool and hiking.

Great for couples, honeymooners, retirees, snowbirds, young people, golfers, tennis players, skiers, snowboarders, tubers, etc.

Comment posted by owner on behalf of guest:

Roger and Michele,

The Aspen Ski Loft was a very comfortable and great place to stay. We enjoyed watching the grandchildren in view from the cabin getting off the ski lift and skiing down the mountain. However, we were not counting on four days of snowing which presented a handicap going up and down the many series of steps at the cabin and also digging out the car to go anywhere. On the other hand, we laughed exceedingly throughout the days at the amusement of watching many, many cars including the snow grader sliding around and digging out of the curve near the cabin!

We would like to add a comment on a particularly vendor, and that is Fred's General Store whose reception was fantastic.

Roger and Michele Peterson, Owners purchased this cabin in 2010

After we were married in 1996, we enjoyed a ski vacation at Beech Mountain with our children. We decided to purchase a vacation home in 2010 and share it with our guests when we are not using it.

When we saw this beautiful rock home, we fell in love with it. The long-range mountain views from the living room / dining room / kitchen are amazing and beautiful! And being only 50 steps from the ski slopes is awesome!

The Aspen Ski Loft is the perfect rental for a comfortable, hassle free stay in the beautiful NC Mountains! We enjoyed staying at The Aspen Ski Loft so much in October of 2013 we stayed again in June 2014. As a matter of fact, we just returned from our vacation, and I cant say enough great things about Roger. He makes it extremely easy to book your stay and hes always quick to respond to any questions (I added an extra night stay at the last minute during our October stay). You can rest assured Roger will do all he can to make your stay a great experience. The long range views, strong wifi signal, cable tv, and comfortable beds are just a few of the pluses to the Aspen Ski Loft. The deck is a great place to enjoy coffee or a glass of wine. And Beech Mountain is figuratively and literally one of the coolest towns in NC. It is the highest town east of the Mississippi, and the temps never rose above 73 degrees while we were there in June. Such a terrific getaway from the oppressive heat and humidity back at home. The Aspen Ski Loft is also a perfect jump off point for daily adventures. Its near to The Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Boone, and Linville Falls. We even took a day trip down to Asheville NC one day (about a 2 hour drive). Also, dont miss a trip to Famous Louise's Rockhouse Restaurant in Linville Falls for a great meal. Of course, you should schedule one day to do nothing but be lazy and enjoy The Aspen Ski Loft. Lounge on the deck or the swing with your favorite book and just soak in the views. The Aspen Ski Loft really is 'where troubles melt like lemondrops away above the chimney tops'!

GREAT PLACE TO GET SNOWED IN.

  • 4 of 5
We arrived at the ski loft just in time for the huge snowstorm in February. The skiing was fantastic and the huge floor to ceiling windows gave a great view of the snow, the slope, and, eventually when the storm passed, the mountains. The loft was clean and well kept. The downstairs was a little chilly. We had a little trouble lighting the stove and Roger was immediately available to help us figure it out. We would definitely return and plan to.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the Aspen Ski Loft, and thank you for writing such a great review! Michele and I really appreciate it!
We are glad you got to experience some of the massive snowstorms that hit Beech Mountain. Michele and I have been snowed in there ourselves! That makes for great skiing and boarding, and beautiful views from the huge windows in the living room, dining room, kitchen area. Yes it is awesome how the weather can close in on the views, and then when it clears, you can really appreciate the 100-mile views from the Aspen Ski Loft. Yes, the downstairs can get a little chilly, since the heat rises up through the circular stairway. We are glad you liked the wood pellet fireplace, which really keeps it warm in the Aspen Ski Loft. There are some automatic shut-off features built in to the wood pellet fireplace, which causes it to shut-of if there is too much ash build up. We are glad that you were able to get it going again after cleaning it.
Thank you again for staying at the Aspen Ski Loft, and for writing a great review. Michele and I are looking forward to you and your family returning again to the Aspen Ski Loft. Just let me know when you are ready to make your next reservation. Sincerely,
- Roger

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

  • 5 of 5
Hard to sum this one up. Simply exceeded my expectations. I was there off season, so extremely quiet. Some of the local places closed, but plenty of open places if needed. The Aspen Ski Loft has everything I needed. Cooking facilities were great. All the dishes, pots and pans I needed. While I was alone on my trip, there would have been plenty of space for the whole family. Two levels provides enough room to spread out if needed. But you probably won't need to if you ski because you're right across the street from the slopes. The property was well maintained. The owners provided very good customer service and we're extremely accessible. I would definitely return with my family and very comfortable recommending the Aspen Ski Loft to a friend.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Aspen Ski Loft, and that the kitchen contained all the utensils and pots and pans you needed for your stay. Yes, there is plenty of room for you to spread out when you bring your family, especially with the finished lower level. The young ones love it because they can have their own space, and the parents love it too, because the youngsters can have their own space, but still be in the same house. Thank you for your kind words about the customer service we provided to you and all of our guests. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to have a stress free stay at the Aspen Ski Loft. Thank you for being a great guest! We are looking forward to you returning with your family to the Aspen Ski Loft at Beech Mountain. Thank you again for staying at the Aspen Ski Loft, and thank you for writing a great review!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

This was our 2nd stay at the "Ski loft" and it was even better than the first. The owner took great care of us, by leaving the lights and heat on since we arrived late Friday night. You really can't beat this location for any of our outdoor recreation needs; steps from the ski slopes and a few hundred yards on your mountain bike and you are in some of the best trails in the High Country. When you are done, you can walk/ride down the hill for lunch at Fred's. We can't wait to get back and enjoy the views from the living room/deck.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying again at the Aspen Ski Loft, and thank you for writing such a great review! Michele and I really appreciate it! It is great that you enjoyed the Aspen Ski Loft so much that you decided to return again. Michele and I are always glad to have repeat guests. Yes the Aspen Ski Loft is a great place for winter or summer activities, with the great hiking and biking trails within walking distance. We even have an outdoor garden hose so you can clean off your bike after riding! And it is great that Fred's is within walking distance of the Aspen Ski Loft! Did you try their rueben sandwich for lunch? It is excellent, and pairs well with a cold refreshing beverage! We are glad that you liked having the lights and heat turned on for your arrival. With the Nexia Home Intelligence system, the lights, thermostats, door locks, and water heater can be controlled remotely, so everything is ready for your arrival. Thank you again for being a repeat guest of the Aspen Ski Loft. You and your family are welcome to stay again whenever the Aspen Ski Loft is available! Sincerely, - Roger

EXCELLENT LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
Overall impression: Excellent location and very clean.
The owners made it so easy to stay there and everything was hassle free. They contacted you with all the information you needed before you arrived. The pictures are exactly what it looked like and was very clean. The location was perfect for us along with a great view! I wish we could have stayed longer. The downstairs area is great for people with larger family or with teenagers. Having WiFi and a full size washer and dryer were great amenities to have. I would definitely stay there again!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the Aspen Ski Loft, and thank you for writing such a great review! Michele and I really appreciate it!
Yes, the Aspen Ski Loft is in a great location, near the top of Beech Mountain, at an elevation of 5,200 feet! There are great 100-mile views of the Appalachian mountains.
Thank you for your kind words about Michele and I providing you with all the information needed prior to your trip. We know that planning for a vacation can be stressful, especially when you are renting from someone you don't know. We want to give you and all of our guests all the information needed so you can rest easy and get ready for your stay, and know what is expected.
Thank you for your kind words about how nice the Aspen Ski Loft is. Michele has done a great job decorating and selecting furniture and decor that fits very nicely in the Aspen Ski Loft.
Yes, the downstairs works great, especially for families with tweeners or teenagers.... the youngsters can be downstairs and be away from mom and dad, yet still close by! We just put a larger TV in the downstairs area because we know it is a great place to hang out!
Yes, the Wi-Fi works great, and Charter Communications has just upgraded their cable TV, and is now 100% digital with over 200 channels available at the Aspen Ski Loft.
Thank you for your comments about the washer and dryer, which are a great amenity to have inside the Aspen Ski Loft. I know there are many homes on Beech Mountain in which guests have to go outside to get to the washer and dryer! I can't imagine doing that with the winter weather on Beech Mountain. That is why Michele and I purchased the Aspen Ski Loft, with the finished downstairs area, with washer and dryer hookups "inside" .
Thank you again for staying at the Aspen Ski Loft, and for being such great guests, and for writing such a great review! You and your family are welcome to be our guest again at the Aspen Ski Loft!
Sincerely,
- Roger

PERFECT SPOT FOR A REUNION TRIP WITH FRIENDS

  • 5 of 5
The Aspen Ski Loft was a lovely place to catch up with some friends. It was just as described, and Roger was most helpful throughout the entire experience. He was very flexible and understanding when we had to stay a bit later than planned due to some unexpected snow/ice. Also, when the fog cleared up, we were able to see the amazing views from the top of the mountain. My friends and I had a great time and would love to stay again.
