Great house for a large group, family friendly
The Hill Top Mansion suited us very well and we were very pleased. We arrived at night and it was easy to find with GPS - my navigation brought us right there with no issues.
We have rented houses for a large group in the Poconos every winter for a long weekend of skiing. When you are renting a house for a large group, it's important to keep in mind that you are not likely renting the owner's 'vacation' home - your likely renting an inestment property that is strictly a rental
Check in and check out went very smoothly, the house was clean and as advertised. The owner was very specific in his detail of the house. I read it and fully understood that the layout of the house would include two 'walk through' bedrooms. Tom's assistant lives nearby and Tom was very responsive to questions I had.
When you enter the house, there is a large familly room with a TV, multiple couches and fireplace. The kids spent a lot of time in there at night watching movies after skiing. The sound system was incredible - it was like being in a movie theatre. There's a large dining room off of the kitchen and the primary kitchen has a seating area off of it. There are three upstairs bedrooms on this side and a first floor bedroom off of the dining room area.
The basement has a TV and pool table and the kids also spent a lot of time there. We had a big group so the kids usually split their time between the basement or the first family room.
The two walk through bedrooms were plenty warm, that was a concern for me for the people that stayed there. In fact, no one complained about being cold that weekend and it was probably one of the coldest weekends of the winter so far.
You walk through the two converted bedrooms to get to the second house: two bedrooms, one large bathroom, living room and kitchen. Plenty of space for our group and we spread out through the entire house.
We skied at Elk Mountain which was over an hour away, Snow tubed at Sno (over an hour away) and skied at Big Bear (half an hour). Elk has been my favorite Poconos ski resort but Big Bear was by far the best for families with small children (under 10). Tons of shopping, groceries, and restaurants nearby the this house.
When we left we were already talking about skiing at Big Bear and renting the Hill Top Mansion next year. The value was great - unbeatable after renting homes for this purpose for the last 10 years.
