Overview

Nanoose Bay House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Our lovely oceanview home is steps to the beach and golf course, nestled in forested parkland with groomed hiking and biking trails, private back yard and relaxing atmosphere - a perfect get-away retreat.

Located in beautiful Nanoose Bay in central Vancouver Island our home is a 20 minute drive to the emerging city of Nanaimo (shopping, restaurants, live theatre, cinema and much more), a 15 minute drive to the beachfront community of Parksville and a further 10 minute drive to the quaint, popular village of Qualicum. A 2 hour drive west through picturesque Port Alberni brings you to Tofino and the Pacific Coast. At the south end of the island, 2 hours away, Victoria beckons with all the character and charm of an inviting English manor and offers everything of an urban, modern city. And don't forget, 90 minutes north is the world famous Mt. Washington ski resort with alpine and downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sunshine and powder-topped runs in winter and hiking & biking trails in summer.

You can relax in our quiet, secure neighbourhood nestled in between ocean and tranquil forest enjoying the peaceful ambience of coastal living. Our 2100 sq. ft. oceanview home is set on 1/2 acre overlooking spectacular Georgia Strait, Sunshine Coast and mainland mountains from several rooms in the house. Custom built in 1996 we have recently installed hardwood flooring in the living room and dining room at the front of our home and new carpet in the hallway and 2 bedrooms in the back, with tile in the 3 piece bath. The open concept has a centrally located fully equipped kitchen open to both the living and dining rooms, an ocean and mountain view patio off the dining room with a seating area close to the BBQ for the outdoor cooking enthusiast. We have several unique amenities including 2 cozy rooftop decks, vaulted ceiling in the living room, etched glass windows overlooking the living room from the upper floor master bedroom, skylit sunroom for bright, warmth in the morning sunrise and much more. The living room woodstove (with full wood shed) is our secondary source of heat and on a chilly day you can gather around and watch the storms roll in while enjoying the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of our beautiful home or catch up on your favourite show on our 40' flatscreen satelitte HD TV. We offer basic cable with Apple TV so for any Netflix and/or iTunes users you can continue to watch your favourite shows and access hundreds of movies.

Each of our 3 bedrooms has a queen bed with ample closet space and the master bedroom features a walk-in closet, a free standing shower stall and a double jacuzzi tub. The mainlevel laundry room has full size freezer, washer and dryer and is steps to the back yard with a 100' clothesline for our environmentally aware quests to use on those wonderful, sunny days. The fully fenced back yard is very quiet and private with a sitting area and is the access to our newly finished detached fitness studio complete with weights, weightbench, 2 bikes and floor/yoga mats.

Our home borders on a large green space (just forest and trails behind us) and is adjacent to the world class Fairwinds Resort with year round golf and activities. We are a short walk to a seculded beach and nearby there is a community mall with a grocery store, movie rental location, health food store, restaurant, hairdresser and more. Activities in the area include beach combing, lots and lots of hiking, biking, swimmining, diving, fishing, tennis, marina and abundant wildlife viewing of bald eagles, deer, sea lions and the list goes on.

We have off-street parking available. As non-smokers ourselves, we will rent only to non-smokers. Also we have no pets so no pets are allowed.

Treat yourself to a taste of paradise where you can be as busy as you would like or revel in the absolute pleasure of both our home and the magnificent lifestyle that goes along with beautiful Nanoose Bay and central Vancouver Island.

About The Owner

Wayne and Donna, recently retired, are beginning to fulfill a lifetime dream of travelling the world. We are outdoor enthusiasts and found the Nanoose Bay area to be perfect to explore all that Vancouver Island has to offer. Now that we are travelling further afield we are thrilled to share our little piece of paradise so that others can appreciate the beauty and opportunities of coastal living.

Both our fathers were in the Canadian Air Force and finished their careers in the Comox Valley. Our love of travel was ingrained in each of us at an early age. We met in high school and started our careers in Fort St. John, northern British Columbia. As soon as possible we moved back 'home' to island soil and have lived here exploring, camping, hiking and instilling in our 2 children an appreciation of the great outdoors. We are an active family that enjoys sports, family get togethers and sharing our island with others.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

Why The Owner chose Nanoose Bay

Our love of kayaking, hiking, biking and being outdoors drew us to this location. With the temperate, drier climate than other island locations we are able to pursue our activities year round.

What makes this house unique

Out our back door you can access miles of trails through a forested area, past Enos Lake, that wildlife call home. Bald eagles, owls, racoons and deer abound and photo opportunities are endless. Our home is on a deer feeding path so you are guaranteed to witness these gentle creatures daily in their own habitat.

Out our front door you are less than a five minute stroll to a secluded beach. This offers you the chance for a refreshing summer dip or to launch your kayak or canoe or to cast off and try to catch your supper. Evenings sitting down at the beach enjoying a glass of local wine are magical as the sky grows pink and you watch mother nature at her finest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for your kind words about your recent rental experience with us.

We have had five renters stay at our home from January, 2012 until now - some for a month, others for a week. We have had only positive feedback from each of these renters with written comments of:

"We've had a great month in Nanoose Bay!.....We have enjoyed the house - especially the view, the cozy dark, quiet bedroom, the wood fireplace & just the feeling that we were "home away from our home".......

"....It was all we hoped for and more. Packing & leaving is difficult to say the least........."

".....We can't begin to say how nice everything was here......"

Recently we had one inquiry who wanted contact information from previous renters. All 3 of the renters we contacted agreed to our request & we passed their information along to this individual (who subsequently booked). We are encouraging our renters to take a few moments of their time to post a review on our listing. In the meantime if you are interested in our property we would be happy to provide you with contact information from any or all of our previous renters.

lovely peaceful place

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this house in Nanoose Bay. The owners are very nice people, had cheese and crackers waiting for us. Showed us around the place a nd were always on call if needed. The house was fantastic, everything we could ever need was provided. It was very clean.
We could never tire of the beautiful view. The binoculars in the living room gave us close up views of the ocean, mountains and the cruise ships passing by nightly. It was so peaceful and quiet.I honestly did not want to leave.
Very centrally located, we explored a lot of the island
Many wonderful trails behind the house and it was great having the deer almost peeking in the windows. The weather was great while we were there. We would definitely recommend this house to others and a big thank you to Donna and Wayne for sharing their lovely home.

Wonderful site

F&S M
This was a fantastic location for our recent vacation to the Island June 24-July 1. The site was very quiet and peaceful. We even turned off our cell phones, radio and TV. It was a great jumping off point to the northern part of the island. We went to the village of Sayward and spoke with the local loggers, also to Torfino and the Pacific Rim National Park where we hiked over the board walk to the Pacific Ocean; and on to Victoria to visit the Butchart Gardens, BC Museum and of course had a ‘spot of tea’ at the Empress.
The million dollar view of the ocean, the snow covered mountains of the mainland and we saw many cruise ships and fishing boats sailing the Strait of Georgia. If you do not want to travel too far there are hiking trails behind the house and nearby beaches. We enjoyed the deer that walked about and peered into the front picture window.
The home was very clean and neat with a wonderful garden. The Turner’s even left us cheese and crackers to munch on while we enjoyed the view. It was a home away from home. We would not hesitate to recommend this home to others looking for quiet and beautiful surroundings.

Yukoners escaping winter

  • 5 of 5
This was the perfect spot for our 3-month escape! The location was very quiet and peaceful. With immediate access to trails behind the house, we went for many walks. We never tired of the wonderful view of the ocean and distant mountains from the living room, watching sea lions and other sea life using binoculars or spotting scope. The resident deer were in view practically every day, many times wandering within a few meters of the house. The sounds of spring birdlife was very welcome in March.

Wayne and Donna's home offered a sense of seclusion yet provided quick access to Nanaimo and Parksville for shopping, movie theatres, dining, and many other activities. This was a great jumping off point for our road trip adventures and was a wonderful place to come home to.

There was an ample supply of wood for the wood stove which kept us cozy for the month of January in addition to the main heat source. The house was supplied with everything a person needs from internet to linens and all the comforts of home. The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable with the supplied bathrobes a nice touch.

Donna and Wayne were the consummate hosts as they were always reachable and checked in to make sure our needs were met and our stay was very comfortable. The Vancouver Island winter weather wasn't bad either!

We definitely recommend Donna and Wayne's home as a vacation rental and given the opportunity would stay there again. We would like to thank them for helping to make our winter escape a great success!

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5
Our group of four adults thoroughly enjoyed our week at this house. Everything was ready for our arrival including a warm greeting and notes and phone numbers to answer any questions we had. The house has spectacular views of the bay and is very comfortable, clean and well-maintained. The owners couldn't have been nicer in their efforts to provide a wonderful stay and make us feel at home. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and relatives.
The house is very centrally located on the island, so it is easy to visit places on a day trip. If you want to just stay "home", there are trails right out your back door to explore the local woods and shore areas. Because it is in a residential area right on the bay, it's also a very quiet and relaxing place to be. Traffic is virtually non-existent! We enjoyed walking around the beach in Parksville and had a great time viewing the sand sculptures for the yearly contest. We also visited places such as Cathedral Grove, the Pacific Rim Park and Tofino, and Victoria and the Butchart Gardens. The owners provided brochures and maps of the local area sights and hiking trails. The island has so many nooks and crannies to explore, hike, and visit - visitors would never be bored. We tended to cook at home and found a very convenient grocery store just a mile or two from the house.
If I had to end with a few adjectives for our stay, they would be wonderful, uncomplicated, comfortable, and congenial. You will not be sorry you picked this home!
