I am a geologist who has worked in the US, Canada and Europe. I now live with my 100 year old father and twocats. I enjoy traveling and get away often on short trips. I am always looking for unique vacation experiences. Sometimes I choose to go for the adventure - like Death Valley or dog sledding in Finland or Montana - and sometimes I go for the museums - love those of London, Paris, Saint Petersburg (Russia), New York, Amsterdam and The Hague.
My father, who was born in Alabama in 1913, has lived in the Winter Park area since 1922. Until recently he lived in the condo complex also. Although he has seen the greater Orlando area transform tremendously over the years, he reminds me that Winter Park has been fortunate to preserve its culture and charm.
I grew up in the area and purchased this property because I loved its location and old Florida feel.
I can tell you it's not easy to find lakefront property in Winter Park that isn't occupied by a historic home or new MacMansion. It is even harder to find a home on a large private lake that delivers a sunset view every evening!
When I found this property, I purchased it to be my future retirement home. However, my father who was elderly, but still independent, wanted to live near me. He bought the unit below this one and we then both moved in to our separate condos. A little over a year ago we moved to my house to be under one roof and that is how my condo became a VRBO property.
I have many friends in the complex and do look forward to the day I can move back, but in the meantime, I hope that you too can enjoy this unique location.
I love early mornings seeing the sun light up the far side of the lake, watching birds in the trees outside the master bedroom and seeing spectacular sunsets every night.
Great restaurants, movie theaters and bars are all within walking distance.
