Overview

Brookings Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

WELCOME! From the instant you enter the living area, you will drop your suitcases and stand in awe at the magnificent ocean and sea stacks seen a short distance below. Our condo is considered a prime location at Rainbow Rock because of its unobstructed over 180 degree view south down the Oregon Coast and west out to sea.

A truly beautiful few minutes private access walk along a well groomed winding path and over a wooden bridge to our private deeded beach will lead you to Rainbow Rock's own pot of gold, a cave with unique rock formations which are a geological wonder. When the sun is pouring into the cave colorful rocks go dancing before your very eyes! The beach has driftwood and sea stacks, star fish and mussels, and you will be able to have enjoyable long walks along the coast toward the town of Brookings. Access to this beach is private, for owners and their guests (that's you!) and more often than not, you will have it all to yourselves!

If you like whale watching, pristine tide pools, beachcombing, star gazing, sensational sunsets, hiking (the Coastal Trail is practically at your door step), and sitting in the condo or on the deck watching the waves roll in, then you've picked the perfect place--our balcony! Seasonally, whales stop to socialize with one another right in front of the Rainbow Rock condos, often staying for days at a time. They seem to love showing off by spouting and flipping their tails up in the air, almost like they are inviting you to come play. There is a lookout place just below our condo on Highway 101 (the Coastal Highway) where people pull over to whale watch. The fantastic Harris Beach State Park, just a mile or so away, has a group of locals who offer whale watching tips during winter migration to Mexico where, in the warmer waters of Baja, their babies are born.

Our condo is comfortable and family friendly. It is exceptionally CLEAN and well equiped with furnished linens and kitchen appliances. A gas BBQ is at the ready and a Jen Air stove has a grill. Everything from a popcorn popper to a breadmaker is available for your comfort and use. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and there is also a guest bathroom close to the guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, the master bedroom has a king size bed, and there is a hide-a-bed in the living room. Pillows are all in protective covers as are the mattresses.

The ocean can be seen from most rooms in the condo, exceptions are the bathrooms and the guest bedroom which overlooks the Rainbow Rock complex. The rhythmic sound of the ocean can be heard from the living, masterbedroom, and kitchen areas, especially when the sliding glass doors and windows are open, adding to the atmosphere of being at the fabulous Oregon Coast. From this condo highway traffic is not heard so you can enjoy the deck while reading, visiting or just watching the exciting ocean scene. This is a top floor (3rd) end unit affording all the privacy you could want.

Keywords: Ocean front condo, gated community, private beaches, beautiful setting, easy pathway to beach, Coastal trail behind property, close to town activities, golf, hiking & fishing.

About Nancy or Clay

We have greatly enjoyed our condo for the past decade. Until we retired in 2006, we were able to spend many long weekends, an easy drive from our home in California. It was always such a nice break from my husbands busy medical practice to relax for awhile at Rainbow Rock. Crabbing down at the wharf in Harbor, just across the bridge from Brookings and visiting local parks and beaches are what we like to do. We also love the nearby Redwood groves, forests and lighthouses along the Southern Oregon coast.

Nancy or Clay purchased this condo in 2002

Why Nancy or Clay chose Brookings

We love the Oregon Coast! We also have a large family and wanted to provide a place for them to enjoy. We had looked at many possibilities up and down the coast and liked Brookings best. This area of the Oregon coast is called the banana belt because of its warmer weather. Brookings is big enough for good places to eat and fun things to do but small enough to not feel hurried. It is close to wonderful things to see like the Redwoods and small port towns. It is a great location and on the ocean, couldn't ask for more! Our grandchildren find lots to do here and love to come visit us.....that's a big plus!

What makes this condo unique

Serenity, beauty, comfortable, safe gated community, nice people to meet, short walk to the beach through a lovely wooded area that is well kept, close to town, fishing, for starters. Wild blackberries grow along the mountain pathway below the condo and we enjoy picking them to eat and bake a pie. The Coastal Trail by the condo leads to a lookout over the ocean via a wooded pathway that crosses a little bridge, It is a nice walk through pines and ferns.

Wonderful stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Cannot say enough positive things about our stay. The property was in wonderful condition with an incredible view of the ocean and beach. The location was amazing. The walk to the beach is a well groomed path and the beach itself is breathtaking, offering a great deal of privacy and room to explore. It is perfect for a family as well as older adults. I highly recommend this rental!!

WOW!!!

What a wonderful view. The property and the location were much better than expected. We enjoyed sitting at the dining room table working on projects while looking up and enjoying all the wave and weather action. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thanks! We've been told that we have a million-dollar view and our vacation renters all seem to agree. My husband and I often sit at that table and play games or work on something while keeping an eye out for whales passing by.

All is as depicted and described -- marvelous!

This is the sort of stay you book with trepidation, if you hope to get out and about for touring each day: It's too lovely to leave! But we did, knowing we didn't have to spend lots of our limited time at various state park beaches. After seeing and exploring Rainbow Rock and its beach, in the sun, at low tide, who needs the rest? Even whale watching takes less time when you can spot a few whale spouts...from the dining room table! The house is beautifully appointed and fully equipped. We enjoyed the warmth and ambiance of the electric fireplace to take the chill off. The beach trail is a delight, though if things are moist, a pair of good walking shoes or boots -- and maybe a pair of walking poles for an elder -- is a help as the sand nears. Getting a close-up look at the amazingly striated makeup of Rainbow Rock and its sea cave from the private access is a treat and a half! Book this place. But don't take it when I want it next!

Owner's Response: You do know how to write! I wanted to just pack up and go over there after reading your review because, you are right, why bother with other beaches when Rainbow Rock has it all. The fireplace is a new addition this year, and it tickles us to know you enjoyed it as much as we did on our last visit. I like the way you can change the flame, with the lights off, it is especially lovely. We do look forward to your next visit with us!

Wonderful Weekend Stay!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was more than we expected. The condo was very clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The view of the ocean was absolutely beautiful and having a corner unit was an added plus. It was exceptionally quiet around the complex which was great! The owners were easy to work with and we were very pleased with how smoothly everything went when we rented this condo. We would definitely stay here again!

Wowza.

The view is more spectacular than the pictures indicate. You will not want to leave! The unit is clean and stocked with little things you might want. My husband and I stayed for two nights and listened to the ocean all night long. Although the mattress was a zero and not comfortable at all, we enjoyed the "music" of the ocean so much. Access to the beach was a wonderful walk. However, crossing from the trail to the sand was treacherous. There is a sign stating that. They are serious!! If you are unsteady on your feet you should not try going as far as the sand. We enjoyed hours looking at hermit crabs, starfish, anemones, and finding shells. Nancy was always available and very, very, warm, friendly, and helpful! (we couldn't rate a full "20" because of the uncomfortable bed)

Owner's Response: You've gotta love that word wowza! It's very hard to not love the beach and view from our end unit unobstructed windows; beds, however, are pretty subjective. New pineapple four-poster twin beds and mattresses are scheduled this week for the guest room and we will take another look at the master mattress while we are there. Also, an added feature this trip will be a fireplace for the front room. We know our guests will enjoy the continuing updates taking place.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

  • 5 of 5

The location alone was worth every dime. We spent several days at the property and only left for a short drive to Brookings for supplies. Access to the beach was by easy well maintained trails. The views from the room where awesome. We chose this property for the location but the property was also excellent. The condo was very clean and lots of room the grounds where well maintained. Dan and Tucker are doing an excellent job and where very helpful with local information.
