ALL OK UNTIL WE GET HOME - SCAM ARTISTS!
Sent a letter with regards to the security deposit ($50 held back) and never got a reply.
“While we were happy with the house, the grounds and the location of this property, there were some issues with the place that we mentioned to Gordon. Which by the way, we did not call to complain about these things, we just mentioned them to him when he stopped over mid-week.
1. The gate did not always open properly
2. One of the ceiling fans in the living room did not work – and since there was no air in the main living area, it was a major inconvenience.
3. Outside lighting did not work – when Gordan brought his electrician over, there were exposed wires when they left. What we found to be bizarre is that they did not change the light bulbs before they did any
work. First rule for any “true” electrician (my husband and son are both electricians).
4. The stove did not work until mid-week when Gordon stopped over…the gas was turned off??
Although Gordan acted like a nice guy, it would seem that he goes out of his way to rack up bills for the owners of the property. And in our case fabricating reasons (vomit found on premises??) to hold back some of our security deposit without furnishing any proof or pictures. We did a complete walk thru before we left the house and this was untrue. Because of this, we will never rent this particular property again and we would not recommend it to anyone.”
Owner's Response: I would like to respond to the review posted. We place our home with a property manager, Gordon, who has been very good to us and the feedback from our guests has always been fantastic. Having a home in the Caribbean can be challenging getting certain specific items unlike here at home. The gate was hit by a previous guest when backing out in January. We have had it repaired by the Rolling company and I will follow up if their continues to be an issue. The ceiling fan was shipped over three weeks ago and we received a response that it is now on island. That will be replaced ASAP. The lighting has been updated and switched to timers for efficiency and safety. Many Caribbean homes have open air living rooms, such as ours, and all the bedrooms have airco. Our home is designed for outdoor living and our deck is where most of our time is spent. I am glad that you found our location and most aspects of our home to your liking. We know how important it is to be able to spend time with family and you should expect a good value for your vacation dollar. In speaking with our property manager the small $50 fee was due to additional housekeeping requirements as stated in your post.
