Old Rag Cabin

My husband and I had a great mini-vacation.. It was everything we had wanted for the weekend right at hand.. The view was gorgeous and we loved the fact of the location and being very secluded on our very own pond, which in fact we used.. I would defiantly suggest this place to anyone that would like some piece and quite and some escape time for themselves.. We look forward to coming back in November.

We had a short weekend Honeymoon get-away at the Old Rag Cabin. We had such a wonderful time! Our first night, we snuggled in front of the cozy fire, sipped some wine and watched the snowfall.

It is such a warm and welcoming cabin, the ceiling is absolutely beautiful! The scenery is stunning, you overlook a beautiful pond and the cabin itself is set up against a hillside covered in ivy. You feel as if you are in another world, even if it is just for the weekend!

The drive to the cabin is just beautiful. The scenery, houses, farms etc are spectacular.

Both the owner and caretaker were attentive, very friendly and overall kindhearted people.

My new husband and I, and our dog Toby highly reccomend staying here if you want to get away from it all and explore nature with a hike, or a lazy drive up Skyline Drive, or if you just want to snuggle in front of the fire!

We will defiantly return to The Old Rag Cabin!!!

We had a great time. There was lots of hiking nearby and it was lovely to cozy up to the fire. The bet is a little squishy, but otherwise the place is great and super cozy for a winter night.

Lovely little cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights in this adorable cabin. We had a great time. The cabin is conveniently located near Luray Caverns and one of the entrances to the Shenandoah. I agree with the other reviewers that it would be a little tight to fit 6 adults in this cabin, but it was perfectly spacious for the two of us. It was a really tranquil place to get away for a few days.

Had a great time fishing at the lake. Location is beautiful, out of the way but still easily accessible. Will go back again.

Perfect getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at the cabin with my girlfriend and the only way our stay could have been better is if we would have stayed longer than the two nights we booked it. The cabin itself is very clean and cozy, but no more than two couples would be comfortable since there is not much space inside, A family with young kids would have a great time though.

The surrounding area is ideal for walks through the forest, and we drove a short 10 minute drive to Old Rag trail. It took us about 5-6 hours to complete the circuit, but the rock scramble is definitely worth the effort, loads of fun! There are other trails nearby that we will need to go back to, as well as visit at least one of the many vineyards that offer wine tastings in the area.

Thanks Connie for all your help! The only thing I would include in the instructions you send by email is that once you're in Lisa Lane, to take a left following the pond in order to get to the cabin immediately. Out first instinct was to keep going straight to the other cabins.
