The condo is located directly across from the popular Scenic Drive. You can walk along Scenic to experience some of the most beautiful views of Lake Austin. Mt. Bonnell (1.3 mi) is also a popular destination for a vista view of the city, the lake, and the surrounding hill country. Neighborhood shopping such as a grocery store, pharmacy, and coffee house is ½ mile away. You can also enjoy dining or a drink on the lake at nearby Hula Hut, Abels on the Lake, or Mozarts Coffeehouse.
Scenic Place is a convenient location for outdoor enthusiasts, event-goers, music lovers, cyclists, runners, hikers, and anyone visiting town for a University of Texas related event or visit. It is also great if you are in transition between homes, transitioning into Austin from another area, or like to have long family visits.
If your plans will keep you downtown, it is less than 4 miles away or a $15 cab ride. A city bus stop is also next to the property.

I moved to Austin in 1997 from the East Coast. I fell in love with the active outdoor lifestyle and chose to stay. I purchased my home in 2002 and have renovated the entire interior over time. I am not an absent owner or property manager. I live here full-time but will soon be living part-time with my boyfriend so this creates an opportunity to rent my house for short-term rental. I enjoy and love all that Austin has to offer and this condo & location makes it easy to do everything and still enjoy the peace and quiet of the hill country.

I chose this property because I wanted to live in a quiet historic neighborhood with easy access to downtown and Lake Austin. Tarrytown is quiet, scenic, and classy with an ecclectic & wide-ranging mix of homes. I enjoy walking along Scenic Drive, biking downtown, coffee at Mozarts, drinks at Hula Hut, climbing Mt. Bonnell steps; walking to Reed Park; swimming at Deep Eddy, watching the peacocks at Mayfield Nature Preserve, and more.
My property is unique because it is so close to downtown activity, in the hills, accessible to bike routes, and close to the lake -- but still quiet and affordable for a single person, couple, or small family.

The location is convenient for access to downtown Austin as well as the N. Lamar Central Market & other shops/restaurants nearby. We enjoyed walks thru the beautiful neighborhood & along Scenic Drive with views of the lake. The condo is well furnished & so comfortable. The owner was great to work with as we extended our stay & very responsive during an unexpected brief utility outage in the area. What a pleasure to have the patio to enjoy the spring weather. We will be back!
This is the second time we have stayed in the Tarrytown Condo. It was clean, comfortable, and welcoming this time as it was before. Great place for grandparents visiting family.
I can't say enough good things about this property and it's owner! We stayed here for three months and absolutely loved it. The furnishings are unbelievable - literally every comfort of home from beach towels to a blender is included. The location is phenomenal for access to central, north OR south Austin. The owners are helpful and responsive and went out of their way to accommodate our needs (including leaving child proofing gear for us since we have a one year old). You really can't ask for a better rental!
We have stayed in so many VRBO and this was the most welcoming. We walked into the kitchen to find a wonderful basket of Texas goodies. The fridge was so clean and contained NEW products for our use - butter, cream, mayo, mustard. The baths were very clean (points on the tp) and the beds are comfortable. The decor is delightful.
We hope to stay here again.
WOW - what a great place. Calm, inviting, soothing decor. Pictures hardly do it justice. Very well maintained. Owner provides nice 'welcome' package and bath amenities - and advice about nearby grocery store, restaurants, activities. Beds are SO comfy. Very relaxing. Very functional. Outdoor patio a treat. Almost don't want to let the secret out about this place.
This condo was a gem for a visit to Austin. The owner was extremely hospitable and made several concessions to make my stay with the kids more enjoyable. The close proximity of downtown Austin, the lake and parks definitely added to the experience. Listing description was spot on and the unit was very well maintained. The pantry was stocked with basic items such as spices so cooking was made that much easier. Customer service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Austin. Thanks so much.
