We loved the condo! Just like home only better with the wrap-around lanai with lots of seating & shade blinds. Inside furniture was very comfy, T.V.'s have lots of channels. Plenty of storage and dressers in Master, not so much in 2nd bedrm. Kitchen is medium size but open to dining/living room. Loved ice-maker on fridge. Washer/drier in suite. The condo was clean & ready for us, the grounds are very well maintained. The pool is big enough for short laps, the Hot Tub was HOT!, the pool loungers great, covered BBQ area has ice-machine & sink for all guests to use. Lots of books in condo & outside office by pool table. Nice breeze from ocean, beach is literally a 1 min. walk from condo. Can have waves, but has a lifeguard, washrooms, showers. Lots of small children having a blast. Condo has several snorkels & beach shoes. The only restaurant within walking distance is Anthony's, across the street. Try the Lobster Pops.
The phone & internet were not working, but Steve had it fixed asap.
We rented a car for the first 2 weeks. Good spots to visit SOUTH: Kahalu'u Bay (snorkeling-easy access, calm); Captain Cook Monument; City of Refuge; Southern most spot in U.S; Volcanoes National Park. Ate at Kona Coffee House & Cafe-great food, friendly service, junction of Hwy 160 & Hwy 11. NORTH: Seahorse Farm-well organized tour, let a seahorse hold u!; Hapuna Beach; Queens MarketPlace; Waimea, centre of cattle country, -ate at the Parker Ranch Broiler, excellent daily special new york steak $18, grass-fed & grass-finished; visit to Parker Ranch Estate.
Without the car we used the Hele-On Bus, free for over 60 (show your I.D.) & The Keauhou Trolley, $2 ea/trip. See schedules but remember about "Island Time". Atlantis Submarine trip leaves from Kailua Pier, Mauna Kea Summit Tour is a must, reserve a seat, can take bus/trolley to pick-up spot. Huggo's On The Rocks is right on the beach. Kailua has all the big box stores up the hill & lots of tourist stores along the water, fun to walk around. Hulihe'e Palace is in Kailua & there is a street festival here once a month, I bought the best flip-flops. Kenichi Japanese Restaurant @ Keauhou Mall-good food, go for happy hour for best deals. Try the Pork Chops @ vintage Manago Hotel across from Greenwell Gardens in Captain Cook. So many things to do we needed to stay longer than 4 weeks.
We would definitely recommend this property to everyone. There is an elevator, but one still needs to go up stairs to get to condo.
