Be very careful make sure you confirm exactly which house you are renting
I was extremely disappointed with the house. I believe I was misled by e-mails and the photos. I understood that we were on the lake “Lake front”. Unfortunately, I cannot back this up because I deleted the e-mails. There are three houses to rent from Lake haven. The house on the lake that I thought we had; I was told (once I got there) that house is always rented. Case in point, then take the photos off the web site if it's not for rent. There was no third bathroom. Apparently, the owners locked the bathroom door because it was broken. I have no idea if there even was a third bathroom.
The luxury house as they refer to it: The walls do not go to the ceiling. It is extremely loud. You can hear everything. If someone is up moving around, everyone is awake. They do not supply anything: No toilet paper, trash bags, salt, pepper, etc. They do supply old towels/wash cloths & sheets.
Good things: The house was very clean and had a nice deck with a view of the lake.
My advice. Don’t rent.
Owner's Response: In 16 years of business and talking with many people over those years, I have never before had any one not understand which place they were going to be staying in. Everyone seems to listen and understand which cabin or level in the main house they were renting.
I rent year round but I have a different group who rent for the summer months of July and August that reserve their week or weeks , and are regular from year to year. The B & B part unusually is more for a night or two and more for the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. There for the pictures in the Advertisements are necessary for those seasons. www.lakesidehaven.net
Also during the summer months, the cabins or main house rentals are by the week and it is explained that everything is furnished except paper products such as: paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, paper plates and also their food, which the renter are to supply.
The luxury cabin has a pool table, Jacuzzi in upstairs master bedroom, a very large kitchen, living room and dinning room. on main floor along with 2 bedrooms with walls going to the ceiling and a full bath. The second floor is a loft type of floor with a master bedroom, one smaller bed room and a open bunk room for kids also full bath. There is a half bath downstairs where the pool table is that has had small plumbing problems, but does work, however, needed some work and did not have the time to repair for the final part of the season. This is a Vermont luxury cabin not a resort or hotel spa. It is a family type grounds, where multiply families come to enjoy for a week or weeks, and share all the boats, beach, outside hot tub and fun equipment.
This lady booked for 2 weeks but could only be here part of the first week and part of the second week. I told her if I could book a weekend I would and subtract what was taken in. However no one wanted just a weekend so I was unable to compensate her in this fashion. This was an inconvenience to us but we are here to please our renter and do what we can , to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. In doing so we lowered her rent considerable, do to the bathroom problem. I did all I could to make her stay enjoyable here, but nothing was going to change her first impression and was going to write a bad review no matter what we did. We talk to the rest of the people that were in her group and they were all impressed and had a great time fishing and the views of the Shadow Lake.
