Come to the Berkshires, and stay in a chic octagonal treehouse. Enjoy unobstructed views while you are surrounded by floor to ceiling windows in 7 acres of complete privacy. Take advantage of the fresh local produce and meats on our four season gas grill. With two full bathrooms there is plenty of privacy in the Master bedroom.
I've been a VRBO renter for 5 years now, I know what a great vacation rental is, this house is magical in all 4 seasons. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

My wife and I are creatives who work/live in Manhattan. We travel constantly and always check VRBO when planning our next trip.
The Berkshires are an idyllic part of America that is completely underrated. Despite being extremely 'country', this area boasts some incredible cultural experiences. Tanglewood , Jacob's Pillow, Mass Moca, and Kripalu are all top notch experiences. The artisanal food available is up to par with any big city farmers market, and nearby Great Barrington is a wonderfull little city full of great shops and an independent movie theater.
Our house is a few hundred yards from Otis ridge ski mountain. A tiny little resort stuck in time (1960's). We are also within 30 miles from the more modern Butternut, Blanford, and Bosquet mountains. There is an appalachian trailhead 8 miles from our house and wonderful hiking/swimming all nearby.
First, we couldn't have timed our wedding and honeymoon better with regards to the peak color changing season! Second, this like COMPLETELY SECLUDED getaway was so amazing to just relax for a week after months of planning, stress and an amazing wedding. I don't know how people take international trips or travel for their honeymoons, but i digress. This little place was perfect for a calm decompression and the little towns around it offer tons of quaint little things to do. We ate like royalty at, hidden little restaurants, found little wilderness ponds to hike around went on a ghost tour at The Mount in Lenox, saw David Sedaris at the Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington, saw a play at the Berkshire Theater Group and had dinner and listened to live music at the Dream Away Lodge. Other nights, we nestled up by the fire and played yahtzee, got our butt's kicked by 90's trivial pursuit (we both were teens in the 90's!!!) and made DELICIOUS bacon from the Chicken Farm store a few miles away. I'd also walk around the Otis cemetery. Some really old headstones and even Revolutionary War vets....
We were really impressed with the incredibly efficient use of space. That little fireplace can kick out some heat, for sure, and waking up to rain and looking out from the bed at the trees and ferns made for a perfect way to wake up. The cute little garden house added a nice feel to the place and we took a number of photos on the property with my wife in her wedding dress that were possibly better than the ones taken by our wedding photographer!!!
KT was super helpful and responsive and we are looking forward to spending our first anniversary there. The only thing I would say was missing was an ironing board and iron. Enjoy your stay. I know we did!
The centerpiece of this magnificent home is the wood burning fireplace which we enjoyed immensely while watching 8" of snow come down all around us. However, there are lots of other nice amenities in the compact space. We enjoyed the selection of board games, the record player, and perusing some of her books. Her attention to detail and utilization of space is really a model of how to live well. This secluded natural getaway was precisely what my wife and I were in search of on our anniversary weekend. We made trips to the Mass MoCA and the Norman Rockwell museums. We took in dinner from Baba Louie's in Great Barrington and did some grocery shopping at Guido's. Otis is really a charming area that is under 3 hours from NYC. KT was really great about everything as we arranged our stay. My only advice to other guests is bring a 4WD car if you have access. We rented an Altima to save a little and although it worked out fine we struggled a bit with the snow coated hilly roads. Luckily within 24 hours the plows had done a really good job. All in all a fantastic stay and we would certainly go back to recharge from city life.
KT's house is imaginative, free, and beautiful. It suited our tastes completely--open and light and creative, with beautiful landscaping and complete privacy, all very intentional and well thought-out, but at the same time informal and relaxing. If you're looking for somewhere to sink into an overstuffed couch and zone out on TV or videos or cook elaborate dinners for eight, it's probably not for you. If you're like us and want a space that encourages peace and mindfulness and being closely together, you'll love it. The countryside is wonderful and the house makes an excellent base for daytrips deeper into the Berkshires. We never met KT but the place is very much hers and by the time we left we felt we knew her pretty well, and liked her
My only hesitation about writing this review is that I don't want the "treehouse" to become so popular that I can no longer get a reservation. It was the perfect place to spend a few days getting away from it all. My wife and I arrived on a snowy December afternoon and we received another 1-2 feet of snow while we were there. The cold temperatures and the two feet of snow on the ground forced us to spend most of the time indoors, but we didn't mind at all. We used the well appointed kitchen to cook some wonderful meals, we sat by the wood burning fireplace in the afternoon taking in the beautiful views, we went for beautiful walks through the woods, and we bought a sled and took advantage of some of the local hills.
This is the perfect place to retreat from city living. It was the first time we've ever been truly sad to leave a vacation spot, but we left feeling relaxed and restored, all the while knowing that we'll be back soon.
I needed a brake from my hectic life and took off with my best friend to the Berkshires...
On our way to the property we stopped by Guido's marketplace and stock up on delicious local products and superb wine. We spent our time cooking on the outside grill and sipping wine in front of the wood fireplace. It was a pleasure to walk on the lovely and scenic paths around the area and to come back and lounge or read on the day bed- surrounded by the views of the forest-
The Treehouse is a tastefully decorated and comfortable mini heaven.
It provided us with a necessary respite before the holiday season... cant wait to go back!!
What a great spot - We were there for one week and I read 4 books. It is in the woods and quiet and beautiful. Great Barrington is only about 20 minutes away and is one of America's truly great towns - the farmers market on Saturday morning is a must. The house lacked a toaster or CD player which would have been nice to have. No TV which was a total blessing. Furniture could be way more comfortable - a comfy couch to curl up in to read. An amazing little architectural gem makes you feel like you are living in a tree. Definitely does not suit more than 2 people.
