Casita de Luna is privacy and relaxation, a nature-oriented get-away. Sleep to the sound of waves crashing, wake to doves cooing, stroll along the white sandy beach, watch the whales breaching right off shore. If you prefer birding, watch osprey perched in the old-growth cactus or baby quail and road-runners skittering across the road. The star gazing is great. Peace and tranquility, nothing to distract your view or your thoughts.
It is a large studio with wide windows facing incredible views (no exaggeration) to the east, south and west to the ocean. Furnished with:
* King bed (or 2 singles)
* Sofa/futon bed
* Kitchen table
* New stove
* New fridge
* Full complement of cooking/eating utensils and linens. * Canvas chairs available for lounging on the porch or terraza and a hammock on the beach side in the shade.
* Daily afternoon breeze through ocean-side French doors to cool you or 2 ceiling fans.
* Stairs to terraza provide a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and Sierra Laguna mountains, or just sit on the corner of the front porch and soak it all in. Great spots for sunset and star gazing after an active day on the beach.
* Currently, no wifi, but we just go down the road to La Esquina for breakfast or beer and free wifi (will consider installation on request).
Surfing, swimming, fishing, shopping, snorkeling, beach combing, hiking, biking, great dining are all available in the area. Todos Santos is an ecclectic mix of artists, musicians, surfers, organic farmers, fishermen and rave-reviewed chefs! This interesting cultural blend provides a variety of interesting galleries, restaurants and eco-experiences to choose from. One of our favorites is helping release baby sea turtles back to the ocean, just up the beach from our casita. Contact us for an affordable vacation spot and info on the local attractions.
Being an ecologist and science teacher, we love the outdoors and seem to have instilled that in our 2 kids, and the dog, as well!
Cathy Stewart purchased this studio in 2004
We love the Mexican culture, the Spanish language and the outdoors. Todos Santos is a small, friendly community that allows us to engage in all three interests, and in a relaxed setting! There is an interesting blend of international (US, Canadian, Italian) and Mexican culture, with inspiration from the natural surroundings, to produce creative art and food offerings in town.
Walking on the beach with it all to yourself is very restful for us. We LOVE falling asleep to the booming of waves and waking to the sound of birds chirping in the morning. Relaxing on the porch or watching the sunset are the main reasons we come down - to restore ourselves.
Casita de luna was the perfect spot for our week in Todos Santos while visiting friends. My husband and I had no car but friends took us around the area most of our stay. We walked to the shops in town along the ocean side roads one day and the round trip was about 7 miles. It is an interesting walk away from the busy paved main road passing mansions and local Mexican homes while wending through a bit of desert and along some of the dunes. If one has no transport though I would recommend acquiring something for getting around when one needs supplies or for further exploring.
In our view this little rental was unbeatable and we will return when we’re able. It is aesthetically pleasing- simple, efficient, immaculate, a very comfortable bed and well stocked with vacation amenities… comfy movable chairs, guide books, reading material, extra kitchen items like seasonings, dry goods, condiments … flashlights, candles- extra toiletries like shampoo and bug spray…good bottled water. Plentiful hot water, lights and a very nice shower.
The ocean location is just right. Away from beach traffic but an easy stroll to it, quiet with the ocean waves echoing as in an amphitheater with the changing tides, and the moonlight over the white casita and the sand, spilling though windows- magical and amazing, a real retreat.
The natural world access from this casita is wonderful. A short walk brings one to the hatching sea turtle release site where you can join in watching the babies make their dash to the Pacific Ocean. Whales do pass and keeping eyes open even in rough waters from the kitchen window we viewed a humpback breaching. One will see ocean and desert birds, and the view from the protected rooftop perch, perfect for a pause and a sit down is splendid.
So in our view, the owner has it just right for the makings of a trip of a lifetime. We recommend it highly.
One morning we drank coffee on the porch and watched whales breeching, listening to the many different birds singing!! Love this quiet little place. We were able to save money by buying food at some of the local markets and cook at home. Casita De Luna is in a great location, close enough to town and an easy drive to many different beaches. The people in Todos Santos were welcoming, friendly. The owner of Casita De Luna was very helpful, giving us tips for our trip. The Casita is clean and well stocked with spices and such for cook - and books! Definitely worth checking this great little place out!
The casita has a very open, peaceful, relaxing quality. The perfect homebase for exploring the charming town of Todos Santos, the local beaches, breathtaking hikes and easy access to La Paz. About a 10 minute walk down the beach and we were able to watch baby sea turtles being released each night, and a couple of us got to go on "Turtle Patrol" to rescue freshly laid turtle eggs. Just a short drive and we were on the Fisherman's Beach and bought fresh fish directly from the fishermen. A short, but steep, hike from the Fisherman's beach and we had a breathtaking view of a protected cove. An hour's drive away in La Paz and we swam with whale sharks. A tremendous experience. All of these great adventures during the day, and then we returned to the very welcoming casita, to sit out on the front porch up or on the roof terrace and watch gorgeous sunsets (often marguerita in hand). We saw whales spouting every day from the porch and while washing dishes at the kitchen sink. The casita was very clean and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend the casita to anyone. The pictures do not do it justice. It's hard to capture its personality in pictures.
This studio is in the perfect location for both mainstream and off-the-beaten-path exploration of southern baja centered out of Todos Santos. The studio is nicely designed and constructed, both exterior and interior. Spatious and open with great natural lighting, kerosene lamps and generated lights. We were completely comfortable starting and ending our day at "La Casita". Access to the beach is ideal as are views of the ocean from the roof-top patio. The roof-top is also a perfect location for a sunset cocktail and later for stargazing. Studio is private and few others were encountered at the local beach. Studio is well equiped for cooking using a simple style propane stove. If visiting in the offseason (summer/late summer) be preapared for heat. Studio would benefit from soon-to-be installed ceiling fans and a patio shade (palapa) to defend from direct sun. We spent our 20th anniversy here and did many wonderful activities including sea kayaking and snorkelling, surf (DIY) and charter fishing, hiking, "towning and fooding", and made the easy trek to LaPaz. Next visit may be with 3 kids ages 2-13.
This little studio is a great get-a-way. The house is away from the main roads so there is very little dust or traffic noise. I enjoyed reading in the peace and quiet, watching the whales from the porch, and walking on the beach at sunset. Very relaxing!
Great little place! Secluded, but very peaceful. Really enjoyed time spent on the porch watching the whales and fishing boats go by! 15 min walk to the beach and the sunsets are fabulous! No electricity can be challenging when your used to it, but got used to oil lamps very quickly. I will be telling all my friends about this gem!
Whale watching, baby sea turtle releasing, beach combing, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, back packing, bird watching, star gazing, shopping at boutiques and art galleries in Todos Santos - just 10 minutes away with complete range of restaurants from taco stands to international cuisine.
