What a perfect getaway home and location for family and/or friends. My family had the most wonderful stay here and can't wait to come back. The listing is just as described and pictured - bright, clean, spacious, full of toys/books for children, and kid friendly. On a beautiful back country road, close to so many berkshire attractions, with a farm right across the way. We woke up each morning to horses grazing in the field across the road. A big treat for little ones. There's a great big kitchen table on which we had lots of big family feasts and late night game playing. There's a nice rocky hill and a large yard for all kinds of play. Marie was so kind, thoughtful, attentive, and available for any questions we had. She was full of suggestions for things to do in the area. There's great hiking, skiing, tubing, horse back riding literally all minutes from the house. We can't wait to go back!!
My husband and I have had the pleasure of staying at this house on more than one occasion. The house lends itself to a peaceful and relaxing stay all year round. The views surrounding the house are spectacular. The house is surrounded by wide open fields, grazing horses and beautiful nature all around. The kitchen amenities are amazing. If you like to cook, you will find all the appliances and kitchen tools you could ever hope for. In the summer time we enjoyed barbecuing on the enclosed deck.
For nature enthusiasts, there are great places for hiking nearby such as Bartholomew's Cobble and Monument Mountain. Sheffield is located just twenty minutes from Great Barrington. We enjoyed going to local shops and restaurants, bowling and going to the movies in town. Our niece and nephew enjoyed swimming in the local Green River and at Lake Mansfield in Great Barrington. They also loved horse back riding at the Blue Rider Stables in South Egremont. The house is full of toys, games and puzzles which kept them occupied and content.
We LOVE staying at this house! It is simply a lovely and relaxing place to spend a week away from home. HIGHLY recommended for couples and families!
Spacious, clean, tasteful, extremely comfortable home! Lush, quiet, expansive yard! Great lakes and trails within minutes. A great place for a family to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life but still a short drive away from the fabulous Great Barrington if you need that perfect cup of coffee or organic pizza fix. Highly recommended!!!

We’ve stayed in this house three times now. The pictures really don’t do justice to the open-concept living area. Unlike many other rental houses we’ve stayed in, this one is truly “light” and “bright,” cheery and stylish, a welcome break from the ubiquitous burgundy and forest green “country” furnishings that usually await us. Seated at the intersection of two barely-traveled dirt roads, it’s very quiet, with tons of grassy space for the kids to run around on.
While the house is clearly set up for families with children (and my kids think it’s paradise), it’s a great spot for child-free adults who want to soak up country life and still be within driving distance of a cappuccino, movie, boutique shopping, or gourmet meal. In fact, I referred a group of six colleagues who needed housing for a nearby conference, and they “didn’t want to leave.”
No TV there, although I think they have a DVD player. I know this is a plus for some, a deal-breaker for others…
I think the weekly rate is very reasonable, even when you factor in the cleaning fee. I appreciate that the owners use green cleaning products. If they allow pets or smoking, we couldn’t detect it, as several members of my family have serious allergies.

Families with Young Children,
We stayed at Marie's home for a long weekend and it was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young children). Skiing, shopping, and horse lessons all nearby. The property is beautiful, overlooking horses right out the kitchen/dining window! The house has a lovely open floor plan--perfect for our children to play with the toys that live at the home. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for cooking and eating.
Marie was very helpful with all the details and helping us feel like locals. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully for a longer stay to do more!
