About Joanne Williams

Joanne and Doug retired from high tech careers to live their dream in wine country. Joanne, who previously was CEO of Ampro computers, is now a PhD holistic nutritionist and spends her day inventing healthy recipes and posting them on her blog: FoodsForLongLife. She is the Author of the eBook, Health Begins in the Kitchen.

Doug, who was previously an engineering executive at IBM and Hitachi, now uses his chemical engineering background to grow and make wine. He has since studied viticulture and winemaking and does most of the hand farming of our Pinot noir vineyard. Our 2012 Turtle Vines Pinot Noir and 2013 Sauvignon blanc is now released.

We've enjoyed living in Sebastopol for almost 4 years and would love to share with you our favorite places to eat and things to do. In fact, we've put together a little book of our favorite restaurants and things to do that you can look through during your stay.

We love to support local charities and donate at least 10 percent of all rental revenue to organizations such as the Redwood Empire Food Bank, 1:1 Fund, Project Open Hand, American Institute of Cancer Research, and others.

Just Wonderfull!

  • of 5

We have used VRBO rentals several times and this was THE BEST experience so far. No detail was overlooked. In fact, many extra details were added to surprise and delight us. From the fabulous grounds, pool and hot tub to the large, well decorated studio and oh so comfy bed, it was so much more than we'd hoped for. Thank you Joanne and Doug for everthing. We'll definitely be back next year and we're keeping it in the family as our daughter-in-law's mom will arrive in April. We know she will love it!

It's great that you can just walk down the trail to your son's house. We will take good care of Linda in April and hope to see you back here again soon.

Sigh...This is where I am when I'm daydream...

  • 5 of 5

In all seriousness, I daydream about being back in this beautiful place. It was the best vacation I've had in years! This place was perfect distance to be off the beaten path, away from street noise and close enough to everything for a quick walk to whatever I wanted. I went to a multi day treatment at the Dhyana Center and visited with my sister less than a half mile away. I didn't need to rent a car. I went for walks everyday on the trail. I was very excited about the studio and was blown away that it was even better than I expected. My favorite part would have to be making the local delicious coffee in the morning and watching the sunrise over the vineyard. I was fortunate enough to be there during a lunar eclipse and I had an amazing view from the deck. As so many other reviewers have said, my hosts supplied everything I could have needed and then some. Lazy afternoons reading...nice soak...great views...privacy yet accessible. Some family have already booked and I plan on booking for my mother when she visits and for myself when I visit. I just hope there will be openings because the secret is out.

Owner's Response: We're so glad the studio worked out so well for you. And thanks for sending your sweet relatives this way. We are hosting them now. We are pretty lucky to live in such a convenient location, walking distance to everything, yet still being in the quiet country. We are looking forward to hosting your Mom in April and we hope to see you again real soon!

My Secret Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Given how full the calendar for the studio is, clearly it's not too much of a secret. It is so wonderful. I appreciate every single detail--wine, cheese, crackers, tea, coffee, robes. I also appreciate that oil, spices, dressing, ziplock bags--all the normal things that someone might need and hate to buy or bring--are supplied. The studio is beautifully furnished and maintained. If you want a quiet getaway, wine country exploration, or easy access to the beach or forests, it's all here. Thank you so much!

We had a fantastic stay! The studio was wonderful, full of everything you need. The pool and hot tub were divine. Joanne & Doug were welcoming, full of helpful ideas, some of which they thoughtfully emailed ahead of time. They gave us lots of privacy, suggestions, and hospitality. A winner with a +++++++++++.

Has everything!

  • of 5

The DuFranc rental has everything one needs for a very enjoyable stay in Sebastopol's wine country and town. The studio is nicely appointed with rich fabrics and appliances for breakfasts and light meals. Joanne stocks delicious snacks and a bottle of their Turtle Vines wine awaits. The grounds are lovely with vineyards, rose garden, and landscaped pool and hot tub area -- very relaxing. One of the real pluses for us was being able to walk to town via a bike and walking trail. Sebastopol is a vibrant center with restaurants, shops, galleries, movie theatre, and The Barlow that has wine tasting, bakery, cafes, and artists' studios. Joanne and Doug are the perfect hosts providing plenty of information about wineries and local produce and food stores, and about their own vineyard. But they are also quiet and respect guests' privacy. We highly recommend the DuFranc studio in Sebastopol.
