Bovina Center Estate Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 4 full baths, sleeps 14 adults, and is the perfect wedding venue!

This spacious, elegant, lakefront log home sits tucked away on a secluded 52-acre mountain retreat, surrounded by hundreds of acres of publicly-owned forest and rolling hills. The house looks out onto a beautiful, private 7-acre lake where you can swim, boat and fish. After grilling up your dinner on the oversized deck, take a swing in the hammock and then relax in an Adirondack chair and watch the stars come out in total silence. Situated midway between Woodstock and Cooperstown, Spruce Lake Farm is 5 minutes from quaint Bovina Center, 10 minutes from a premier 18-hole golf course, and 15 minutes from supermarkets, antique shops, fine dining and boutique shopping in Andes and Delhi. Children will love the tree house, play set and beach, as well as the two rowboats and numerous forest trails. Wireless internet and satellite TV are free. Click on 'More Details' below for further information.

Main level: The main level of this five bedroom, four bathroom house has a wonderful open floor plan and provides the perfect space for enjoying meals, entertaining and relaxing by the huge stone fireplace. The ceilings here are 35 feet high with rustic beams and views of the lake, and overhead is a spacious loft which serves as a library, office and reading area. Also on the main level are the kitchen and dining area, a log-walled bedroom with adjacent full bathroom, a TV room with HDTV and DirecTV satellite service, and an airy sunroom and library area as you enter the house.

Upper and lower levels: The upper level of the house has three bedrooms, one of which includes a loft for extra sleeping space, and two full bathrooms. The lower level boasts a huge master bedroom with en suite full bathroom, and leads out onto a beautiful stone patio overlooking a flower rock garden. The lower level also includes a large screen HDTV, a rec room with pool/ping pong table and foosball table, and a laundry room with two sets of high-efficiency washers and dryers.

Lakeside boat house and play area: The boat house has a picnic table for lakeside dining, and two rowboats. The play area has a tree house, slide, climbing wall, cargo net, swing, tandem swing, trapeze and bench swing.

Spruce Lake Farm also makes a wonderful gathering place for weddings, reunions and company retreats.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We recently held our wedding at Spruce Lake Farm, and, weeks later, our friends and family are still raving about the venue. We rented the house for the week, so our wedding party and close family got to spend a lot of time together. We had about 130 people at the reception, and there was ample space for a large tent and other equipment. We had a string band play, and we did all of our event rentals through Morris Tent Rental, who was amazing. Brooks BBQ catered, and cooked on site, which was a huge hit and the food was delicious.

We live in Boston and had family coming from both Boston and the NJ/NYC areas, and everyone was happy to make the trip and enjoy a long weekend in the Catskills, but it was also close enough for some guests to just come up for the ceremony and reception. We really enjoyed the lake, and our friends and family enjoyed boating, fishing and swimming to break up the wedding-planning preparations.

Honestly, I can't say enough about this place. The house has all of the modern amenities but has the feel of a country home, and it's full of beautiful Asian antiques and art. And lastly, upon arriving on Monday, all of the stress of wedding planning seemed to go away as we sat by the lake together and took in the peaceful, quiet surroundings.

If you want a wedding that people will remember for years to come, we highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm.

Wonderful place to stay, two years in a row!

  • 5 of 5

I have a core group of friends that I've known for decades and we have spread ourselves around the Northeast, not allowing for us to see each other nearly as much as we should. Some of us are married, have children, etc, and Spruce Lake Farm provides us an exceptional place in a quiet setting to come back together and enjoy a long weekend. Both years we have visited in November and it has snowed the perfect amount to create an even more ideal setting that still allows for outdoor activities. The house itself easily accommodates us all, providing places to steal away and read or recharge with a nap if needed. The fireplaces and outdoor fire pit provide the perfect settings for cocktail hours and hot chocolate and could not be more comfortable. Adam is very easy to work with and responds promptly to email should any issues arise. We are definitely looking forward to a third consecutive stay at Spruce Lake Farm in 2015!

Peace and Quiet Abounds!

  • 5 of 5

I'd start by saying if HomeAway allowed 6 stars...I'd give it here.

We have rented many places over the years, and we try very hard to find places where our family can spend an entire week together and get away from the craziness. This is the family winner by far. The accommodations were fabulous...lots of room for everyone to stretch out in quiet if they wanted, or assemble en mass to enjoy cook outs on the grill or twice over campfires at lakeside.

My wife, the gourmet cook found just about every utensil, appliance or convenience she needed to wow the kids and grandkids at meal time. The old log portion of the home is just so cozy, and everyone loved spending time there doing puzzles, playing cards, or just reading. The best part of our week was; even though there are two TV's of ample size and HD quality...we only saw about 1/2 hour of TV the entire time...we just didn't need it with all the things to do.

The owner is quite a distance, so the manager provided great help when we needed it. Heinz is a super nice guy. Amy had the house clean and ready for us all, so we tried to reward her by cleaning the house better than we found it. Thanks Amy.

If you are looking for a place to rekindle family ties, get away from the lights, traffic, noise and stress, I highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm. NOW is a great time to go...the leaves are just turing colors and will be spectacular in about two weeks.

Thanks Adam for a wonderful and memorable week.

Beautiful Wedding Week

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Spruce Lake the week leading up to our sons wedding.

You start relaxing the minute you drive in and see the beautiful view of the lake and house. We had 12 adults and were very comfortable. We grilled almost every night and the kitchen is well equipped and had plenty of room for more than one cook in the kitchen. The bedrooms are large and roomy with very comfortable beds, everyone slept great!

We really enjoyed the row boats, the guys fished and caught bass after bass!

We had Morris Tent come and set up our tent by the lake for our rehearsal dinner, they are great to work with. We had Brooks Barbecue in Oneonta for the dinner, everyone loved the ribs and chicken. If you need wine or alcohol please talk to Connie or Jerry Pellegrino at Rays Wine in Delhi, they are the sweetest couple and very helpful.

The nights were chilly so a fire in the fire pit kept us warm while star gazing.

Early morning coffee on the deck is a must, the mist coming off the lake is magical.

Words cannot describe the stillness of the lake with the reflections of the shoreline at dusk, it's breathtaking.

Spruce Lake is now at the top of our list for a beautiful, relaxing, fun filled week!

We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation spot.

Thanks for letting us take care of your home for a week Adam!

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week of enjoyment at Spruce Lake Farm. The layout of the home is great for three generation families! There is something for everyone! The kids had a great time playing on the playground, as well as on the hammock, on the water and fishing. The water temperature of the lake water was warm and the water was clear and calm. We enjoyed having s’mores around the fire at night. We also enjoyed the train ride Delaware Ulster Railroad out of Arkville. The trail Delhi EDU was a nice hike, with a labyrinth and butterfly area.

We would like to return sometime

Outstanding in every way

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful house and its stunning environs surpass expectations. We had our family of 12, ages 1 to 77, here for a winter holiday. The house is the perfect family venue with private space for everyone and wonderful common space for times together. The house is superbly equipped and beautifully decorated. A foot of snow transformed the idyllic setting into a winter wonderland, while a fire inside kept us warm and relaxed. We enthusiastically recommend this lovely property and are looking forward to a return visit in the summer ourselves.
