Many fine and casual restaurants are only a few minutes drive away with everything from seafood to steaks as well as Mexican, Chinese and an Italian Pizzeria. For shopping, there is a large outlet shopping plaza in town, Clinton Crossing, which is less than five minutes drive, and offers over 70 premium outlet shops. Additionally, in the next town over, Westbrook, there is a second outlet shopping center called Tanger Outlets, which features 65 premium factory outlet shops. On the entertainment front, if you tire of the sand and sun, both Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Resort and Casino are less than an hour away, and a bit further is Mystic Seaport and Museum. Closer by is the Essex Steam Train Museum where you can view and ride historic steam trains, which is great fun with the kids. There are public golf courses in nearby Guilford, Deep River, Old Saybrook, North Branford and East Haddam as well as the 36 hole Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, where the kids can also pick fresh apples and watch cider being made. The two towns on either side of Clinton, beautiful Madison and Westbrook, each have movie theatres - the Madison Art Cinema, and the Westbrook Marquee 12 theatre multiplex. For more adult fare, Clinton is home to the Chamard Vineyard which is open for tours and visits and features a nice wine bar. Clinton is also home to High Seas Charters if fishing is more your speed.
