Just got back today, and had to write a review. My family spent two nights at this house in Chincoteague.
This property is very friendly and inviting. This home is located just steps from downtown, shops, restaurants and the pier. The location is a short drive, pretty much a straight shot to the south entrance to Assateague Island National Park. In a car it is just minutes from the beach.
The property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms on two levels. The bedrooms were spacious. The bedrooms and bathroom were extremely clean with a comfortable mattress. The water pressure was great and the hot water was plentiful. The WiFi is free. The kitchen was spacious, and the selection of books in the house was awesome. There was plenty of space to wind down and relax. A grocery store is a few blocks away as well as a convenience store with gas.
Fortunately the weather was very nice and we were able to get out and go biking to the Assateague Island National Park and go walking in the downtown area. This past weekend was oyster week. At the end of the block is a restaurant named Bill’s Seafood. We tried the crab oyster and fried oysters. They were so fresh and fabulous, and the crab cakes were awesome. We went there the next morning to get breakfast and it was great as well.
Our week-end there went by too quickly and it was a shame to leave! I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who wants a relaxing week/weekend.
The gentleman that owns the property was fantastic! He was very gracious, helpful, and available. Will definitely come back and stay again!
We come from DC area. We spend 4 nights in this house. We are get the good experience here. We ride the bike around the island and it is really nice feeling. For the house, you get what you want for the stay excepts the one window curtain has a little bit broken but nothing bother your stay. If possible, I will rent this house again. Thanks, Kevin.
Salty Dog Lair is a great vacation home. Location in town was perfect for walking to shops and riding bikes around. Nice open concept downstairs was great for family time. Also, plenty of baths/showers were great!
This house was in a perfect location. Close to everything-literally one block from the grocery store. Kevin, the owner, was very accommodating and let us change our dates due to car trouble. We enjoyed chatting with the lady across the street (family that owns the ice cream parlor) about the area. Overall, wonderful say-relaxing and beautiful area.
The owner was very prompt and friendly in his response to us. We loved the house. We had it at capacity and did not feel cramped at all, there was plenty of space for everyone. The house is very kid-frienly and has lots of character and charm. I loved the outdoor shower! There are plenty of extras that come with the house... lots of books, movies, games, a nice sized yard and a garage full of goodies including kayaks and bicycles! Thank you to the owners for sharing everything with us! We were within walking distance of an ice cream parlor, restaurant, grocery store, and other shops. My only complaint was that we didn't have enough time. This was our first trip to Chincoteague. I'd like to visit again next year and stay longer than a weekend. I would definitely stay at the Salty Dogs' Lair again!
