This is a beautiful two-bedroom home with a separate den/office. It is located on Oster Court within Sunset Captiva. The house is furnished and equipped as a second home--not a ''rental unit.'' Our family loves to cook --the kitchen is a cook's kitchen. We are located on the quiet part of a private community, Sunset Captiva, just a few minutes walk from the pool and beach. We have a small citrus grove behind the house (grapefruit, orange, meyer lemon and key lime trees) and an extensive orchid collection. Several good restaurants are within a two minute walk. The community pool is only a three minute walk away. The beach is just a minute further. Boating and great fishing at the end of our community dock are across the street. The beach is extraordinary and extends for miles. This is a great vacation home for young families. We have two pak-n-plays, a high chair and baby monitor. We are at the end of a cul de sac--and the setting is quiet and private.
Please take a look at our visitors' comments which pretty much convey the experience.
Thanks for checking in. Everything was great. Loved your place and of course loved Captiva. We took your suggestion of kayaking with Barb on Andy Rosse and had a great day kayaking through the path on Bucks.
We have already recommended your place to others and we are very, very likely to return again next spring.
What a great place to stay. When booking the house, Bob was extremely helpful and always quick to respond to any questions that we had. The house was wonderful and the perfect getaway for us. We wanted a home away from home and some privacy which this gave us. We went many nights to the local restaurants (all within walking distance or an easy bike ride - bikes are well worth renting) but also enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen. The house is tucked away and even on the odd rainy afternoon we enjoyed being inside- reading on the terrace, watching tv or researching the island using the fast internet connection or by leafing through Bob's wide collection of books and local guides. Jensen's, Gordy's dock and the beach were true highlights for us. Captiva is so special and the house, well-maintained, clean, large and accessible, really added to our experience. Thanks Bob and family for sharing with us- an experience we'll never forget!
Bob was wonderful to work with. We loved the house and the location. Sunset Captiva is a great place to stay as you can walk to SO much which is great as parking for shopping/restaurants on captiva is a bit of a nightmare. There is very little parking so walking was huge for us. We have rented 8 other times on Captiva and always within South Seas resort. LOVE having our own house which was much more private than the condos we usually rent. walk to beach/pool was about 1 minute and beach is awesome!! House has everything you need. House was well maintained and clean. Had issues with cable and owner fixed it immediately. Highly recommend renting this house.
My family has been renting this house from Bob for years and we will continue to do so as long as it's available. The house was spotless upon arrival and is well maintained. It is the perfect size for a family of five. No need to drive anywhere as everything is within walking distance. The weather has been very nice with coolimg afternoon showers to make that post-beach nap even easier. The beach and pool provided plenty of activity. We ate at all the usual places, Crows Nest (Crab races!!!), Keylime Bistro, Green Flash, Sunshine Cafe, Bubble Room and Latte Da for icecream. We found a manatee mother and calf at Jensen's and saw pods of dolphins and an assortment of interesting birds. It's difficult to leave such a wonderful island and this great house but knowing we will return again next year is reassuring. Thanks Bob for another bushel of memories to take home to Boston. We are off to Sanibel for another week in paradise!
To attend a wedding at Tween Waters Inn, we rented the house for a week and were very comfortable there. Why not stay at the Inn? We have 2 small kids and wanted a kitchen, laundry, etc as well as a separate room for the kids. The downstairs office would have been a nice place for another family member (foldout couch, plus there is a downstairs bath) if we had a bigger family. We were delighted that towels/linens were provided so that we did not have to transport them on the plane. The resort is nicely landscaped, the pool is nearby, and the ocean is short walk. We went swimming many times a day. There are manatees in Jensen's Marina across the way every evening, and we enjoyed learning about our shells at the Bailey Shell Museum. Ding Darling nature center was another highlight. Plus we saw a bobcat!
This was a perfect vacation. The location is the best on the Island. You park your car and forget about everything for the week. We beached, walked, rode bikes and had a great time. After you are done for the day what a great home to come back to and hang out. The home is laid out beautiful. Open concept very spacious. The flowers, trees and all plantings at the house and the neighorhood are something to enjoy. I highly recommend you stay at Bobs home. Very gracious gentleman, a joy to talk to. The folks right down to the man taking care of the property were fun to meet and talk to. Already looking forward to next year.
This was our third stay at this lovely house on Captiva. I booked it for the same time next year before we even left. The house is perfect for a small family and close to everything so there's no need to drive anywhere. We highly recommend staying here and will probably keep coming back until the child becomes a teenager and doesn't want to be seen on the same island with us! Seriously though, this is a great place to stay and has all the ammenities. Thanks a million Bob! We'll be back in 2012!
