About The Owner

I love dealing with the people that are excited about their vacations like our family is. We love going to Northern Michigan and enjoying the beautiful areas and attractions.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2003

Why The Owner chose Traverse City

This is a fantastic location. Up North feeling, but Traverse City is only 6 miles away. Also, great restaurants, golf, malls, etc. within 3 miles.

Interlochen Center for the Arts very close as well with great concerts.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is unique in that it is very spacious and private on the inside and only 10' from the beautiful water through the screened in porch. This unique benefit has been grandfathered in and could not be re-built this way. It is a great relaxing place to be - on the water without the annoying mosquitoes and sipping your coffee or a cocktail.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nicely repainted and updated! It was a beautiful weekend here and we enjoyed the stay. Loved the lake, the area and the town! We will definitely come back for fall color tour!

Love the new dishes in the kitchen and the new mattress also!

Nice and quiet location

  • 4 of 5
We spend a few days at Lake Bass and it was a wonderful time. The lake is really nice and quiet. The house fits the description on their web site. We have watched the 7 minutes movie which shows a walkthrough the house and it demonstrates what you will get there.
The only thing we were a little bit disappointed about was the BBQ-grill and that there were no coal available.

Owner's Response: Sounds like you had a great time at the lake! We are glad you enjoyed the video also! Unfortunately charcoal falls under those pesky consumable items that you need to bring Up North yourself. Thanks for your review!

Relaxing & peaceful getaway cottage.

Relaxing & peaceful getaway cottage.
  • 4 of 5
We stayed at this cottage for 2 nights, Jackie the owner was kind enough to tell me that I could arrive as early as I wanted on Friday :-)
The Cottage is exactly as it shows on the pictures,we were there specifically to admire the fall colors and we were not disappointed, we like the fact that it was close to downtown Traverse City, also it was very quiet, we met one of the neighbors and he was very nice and helpful.
The view from the screened deck was nice and calm, enjoyed the sunrise and sunset as well as a peaceful environment.
Fireplace was nice to have, I guess my only negative comment is about the sofa bed, it is kind of old and when I tried extended to sleep on it the funny smell made me close it, and could not be used as a bed.
Overall I would recommend this place, the owners also provided a row boat and paddle boat which was very nice. We wanted it a peaceful getaway weekend and that's exactly what we got, thank you for letting us rent your place.

Owner's Response: We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Bass Lake Cottage. Regarding the sofa/sleeper, that will be replaced this winter. We hope that you can come back and enjoy the cottage again next year! Thanks for your feedback!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5
My Brother and I arrived last night for a 3 night stay and we were so happy. The place is charming and the view I awoke to was breath taking. The owners have been great to work with. I came from California so if by chance your wondering Jackie was awesome to work with on holding the cabin for us..so thank you Jackie. And for those who mentioned the pots and pans... They bought a nice set of T fal so I felt special. I have no complaints just praise. You must come vist in the early fall for the colors are spectacular. I came across the country to see them and I'm not disappointed. I met the neighbors and they even offered thier kayak's for my brother and I to use even though there is a rowboat for us. How sweet. So thank you for the use if your place. Renee Cobb. California

Peaceful Lake but Cottage Needs Updates

  • 4 of 5
Beautiful, quiet setting - loved getting up early to see the beautiful sunrise. The cottage is older and could use some updates. Beds were not comfortable and it could use new kitchen flooring. There was not a kettle big enough to make soup or spaghetti, the no stick fry pans are peeling. It was great to have a washer and dryer and a dishwasher. We had a cold week so the electric fireplace was nice, also. We had a great time but I expected a bit nicer accomodations for the price. The peaceful lake and screened in porch helped me overlook the negatives. Owners seemed kind and helpful.

Owner's Response: We are happy you had a wonderful trip! As for the updates, they are in the works in conjunction with other beautiful updates already made, including the knotty pine hardwood ceilings installed last year as well as the new septic field and all new lighting. Come stay again next year and experience more of the fun you had on the lake in beautiful Traverse City!

Great cottage, conveniently located!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was great, the kids had a blast, we caught a lot of fish. It was real easy getting over to Empire to swim on the few warm days. This first time staying outside of TC or the Peninsula gave us an opportunity to enjoy the other great towns in the area and the lovely countryside. Thank you again, Bill.

Vacation rental

  • 4 of 5
We had a great time in Traverse, the cabin is located just minutes away from town but yet you felt very secluded. The lake is just outside the door and we had fun with the paddle boat and some kayaks that were lent to us. The cabin was very comfortable space wise and clean. I would recommend that the owners update the mattresses and pillows for sure in the master and the room with the bunks, they were not comfortable to sleep on, other than that a great place to stay and would consider it again with some upgrades to the bedding. Coming from Texas I was worried about no AC but the weather was great, window fan in the room with the bunks needs to be replaced, very noisy. All in all with the minor complaints nice place to stay very relaxing and peaceful place to spend a week in Northern Michigan. Owner was very prompt to answer any questions that I had.
