Enjoy the best view in town of Whiteface Mountain while relaxing in an Adirondack chair on the front porch of Solitude Lodge! Nothing else in your sight except an historic barn, pine trees, birch tress, the official town scenic byway, and the cliffs of Quaker Mountain. We've worked hard to think of everything we could do to help you leave your worries at home. You will not need to think about bringing linens or towels, buying wood for the fire place or fire pit, removing your own trash, or cleaning. We are happy to take care of all of that for you at no extra charge.

Solitude Lodge is a newly, completely renovated home situated on 29 beautiful Adirondack Park acres divided only by the scenic byway. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 very comfortably. The master bedroom has it's own bathroom and a king size bed. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed. It shares a hallway bath with bedroom #3 which has a double bed and two twin beds. The half bath and laundry room are on the main floor off of the kitchen.The kitchen is completely new with granite tile counter tops, and all new appliances, including a dishwasher. It is loaded with all the pots, pans, dishes and utensils you will need to prepare and enjoy meals together. The dining room has a large Adirondack rustic style birch and antler table that seats at least 8. Glass doors lead onto the deep front porch where you will find Adirondack chairs, a gas grill, and picturesque views in every direction! The spacious living room has wide plank pine floors, hand hewn beams, a stone fireplace, reading area, chess table, foosball table, rustic bar and dart board, and a 40' flat screen TV with DVD player. A second TV and DVD player for gaming and movies is in bedroom #3.

Although we worked hard to make Solitude Lodge so beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing that you might not want to go outside... it will be worth the effort if you do! On the property you can gather around the stone fire pit at night. During the day you can hike, challenge your friends to a game of horse shoes, or explore the 29 acres. Within a few miles you will be able to kayak, swim, fish, and play volleyball at the town beach at Lake Everest. You can hike, snow shoe, cross country ski, and mountain bike on a new set of trails just created 1 mile from the house. You can also ski, or snow shoe at Whiteface Mountain just three minutes away! The activities available within 15 to 30 minutes away are endless. Of course there's The Village of Lake Placid, all The Olympic Venues, horse shows, Ausable Chasm, The Wilderness Center, and many of the 49 high peaks just to name a few.

When you are done exploring you can come home to Solitude! Put your feet up and enjoy each other. We have been lucky enough to create many cherished memories with family and friends in this area. Our goal when renovating Solitude Lodge was to build a home that you could create your own memories in!

About The Owner

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys. Spending time together means everything to us! We spent years going north to ski at Whiteface Mountain with Grandma and Grandpa. The boys started skiing at The Kids Club at Whiteface when they were 4 years old. Now they are both ski instructors and one is in college. As they say... 'don't blink'. Over time we grew to enjoy sharing all of the seasons and activities this area has to offer with our family and friends. Buying and renovating this home was a dream come true. A real labor of love! Every choice we made was based on preserving the past and creating a future full of new traditions and mental snapshots! We would love to be a part of helping you create memories of your own!

What makes this house unique

When you sit on the front porch and have your morning coffee looking at the slopes of Whiteface, or your apres ski beverage looking at the cliffs of Quaker Mountain you will understand how we came up with the name Solitude

Solitude Lodge is located on 29 beautiful Adirondack Park acres divided by a scenic byway. As a family we enjoy sitting around the fire, hiking , and playing horse shoes on our own property. Some of our favorite things to do in the immediate surrounding area are skiing on Whiteface Mountain, kayaking at Lake Everest Beach, hiking and mountain biking in the new trail system recently created just 1 mile away. There is so much to enjoy!

Great spot!

This place surpassed everyone's expectations. You can tell the property has been invested in, as it is modern, clean, and inviting. Big changing room right as you come in for all your wet boots and ski hardware. Modern spacious kitchen with a large island, and very nice farm table for dining. The front deck has Adirondack lounge chairs with clear views of Whiteface, which is literally minutes from the property. The living room is large and has an integrated sound system which was very easy to get going. Upstairs rooms are clean and the bedrooms were spacious. Everyone in the group agreed that there is a very perceptible difference between vacation rentals they've stayed at in the past and the Solitude Lodge. This lodge is just a notch or two above.

If you're staying for a weekend you should also note that other places usually charge a cleaning fee which can be as high as 20% of your lodging cost. Solitute Lodge on the other hand does not, and that in itself makes this a great deal.

One caveat is that checkout times are FIRM.

Everything was great, wonderful location, excellent snow boarding conditions.
House is well equipped all around ! very clean, beautiful views, lots of entertainment in the house, love the chess ! Great relaxation by the fireplace. lot of room for everyone. We would definitely visit again, don't forget to bring slippers ! ;)

Ironman Lake Placid 2012

I was participating in Ironman Lake Placid and I wanted to find a place that would be away from the activity generated from all the excitement of Ironman. The Solitude Lodge was absolutely perfect. The home was beautiful, clean and had all the amenities that I would want in a home. I literally felt like I was coming home every time I walked in. It had a beautiful view of Whiteface Mountain and was minutes away by car. The area is stunning and I would come back in a heartbeat.

Wonderful!

My family and friends spent a weekend at Solitude Lodge and it was a great experience! The chalet is very well equipped, it had everything we needed. The entire house was clean, new, and very well kept. The kitchen was wonderful with everything one could possibly need to cook anything we wanted. The linens were so nice, they were better then a 4 star hotel we had been to the week before, we slept so well! The chalet is cute, charming, and so close to Whiteface. Definitely recommend to anyone and planning on taking a summer vacation here in the future. Thank you Jeanine for everything!

A Completely Charming Home

We stayed at Solitude for two nights. It could not have been more convenient to the slopes and the surrounding area. The house was perfect! It was well appointed, updated and cozy. We loved all of the Adirondack charm. The home was well stocked with everything you would need in the kitchen and overall.

Jeannine could not have been nicer or more helpful as far as arrangements and recommendations.

We had such a nice time with friends in the house, and we found ourselves discussing our return it was so memorable.

I highly recommend staying at Solitude.
