Mini Boating Vacation with Friends
Upon arrival on Friday, we found the house to be in great shape. It was clean and there were many amenities that we didn't even know were there. In the kitchen there was a coffee pot, blender and plenty of paper towels and cleaning supplies. The garage held a kayak and 2 adult bikes and a kids style bmx bike. The 2 beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were nicely decorated. The pull out sofa was a little small and not very comfy but it worked.
The picture here does not do the living room justice!! There is a nice flat screen tv along with a very comfy couch and even a desk if you need to do some work while you are there! There is also a really nice swing under one of the oak trees that we didn't expect. Great to sit and watch the river!
The fishing was fantastic from the dock and there is a nice bench at the end of the dock to hang out on. Caught everything out there including stingray, catfish, red, drums, etc. Be prepared to catch a lot of catfish!
A few comments: There is no light at the end of the dock that works so we ended up going to Wal-Mart and buying a lantern so we can fish at night. Bring some extra bath towels. We were only there for two nights so didn't really want to do laundry, although a washer and dryer was available.
We had a little situation with the neighbor that I want to make anyone renting aware of. The neighbor came out in the early evening and chatted with us (6 adults over the age of 30) and seemed really nice and helpful. We were sitting outside grilling and having a good time and around 10:30 he came out and told us we were making too much noise. Someone in our party lit off ONE and only one firecracker and the neighbor was out the door in 2 seconds threatening us. Now mind you this was a Friday night and we were just sitting around talking and enjoying each others company. He threatened to call the cops on us if we didn't quiet down by 11 pm. We asked him if the music was too loud or our voices and he proceeded to tell us that our laughing was too loud. We would have laughed REALLY loud if the cops would have been called because we were laughing. I understand if he doesn't like the house being a vacation rental but we are very respectful people and were not in any way being too loud. Just warning you that if you are planning to have bbq don't LAUGH!! LOL
Overall, we will keep this on our list as a rental to go back to!
