Beautiful Home

  • 4 of 5
The home is absolutely beautiful from the outside, in fact, that was the first thing I commented on to my sister after we had seen the home.

However, coming up to the home we were surprised because our navigation system kept saying the road had limited access, but after driving along we realize the construction was the culprit. There is quite a bit of construction down Napoleon Avenue towards the house. Large equipment filled the median area so it was a bit of an eyesore, but luckily there was rain and we weren’t disturbed by the noises of the work.

We actually had two of the units in the Napoleon House. I actually stayed in this particular unit. Now, the stairs got me but I am happy to say we all managed them, barely. The rooms are large, spacious and lovely. The house is well cared for and the renovations kept the specialness of it being an old home intact. I was in the Queen room with the shutters and fireplace. This unit also had central air, which made me happy, happy, and happy! All the bedrooms had a flat screen television except the one I occupied, which I knew prior to check in.

The kitchen is one of my dreams and comes fully stocked with the cooking items you may need. Since it was a quite a large group of us in all three units (we had the condo across the street as well), the kitchen was great for this trip. Wonderful appliances and cookware and I loved it, even with the little cooking I actually did. Having access to a washer and dryer also was a bonus, and we washed and dried clothes before we left.

The one thing that seemed to irritate us the most was the Wi-Fi. I am one of those people who sleeps with a television on and since I was in a room without one, I was hoping to watch Netflix until I went to sleep; well the Wi-Fi situation was janky at best. If you were able to use it, it would only work for a short period of time and you were kicked off. We couldn’t reset the router, so we just whined and moaned about not being totally connected. I probably more than the others because I just knew I would at least have access to my Netflix account since I was in the television free room.

I want folks to know it really is a beautiful home and it served our needs beautifully. Just keep in mind they have some construction in the median, which looked like sewer work and Wi-Fi issues. Other than those small problems, I would definitely recommend the home to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for appreciating the architectural values and comforts of this home. Renaissance is occurring in many parts of New Orleans particularly after Hurricane Katrina. There is renovation in many parts of the city so with improvements come some temporary construction.

As for the internet service, it is unfortunate that we were not made aware of the sporadic connections until this review. As owners, we try very hard to offer the best accommodations. In the future, I hope renters will notify us owners so that we may have the chance to improve the situation.

Beautiful Antebellum house!.

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just spent a marvelous week in New Orleans for Jazz Festival. We loved Napoleon House!!!! Liz the owner was wonderful, quick to respond to our needs and requests. We started in Baton Rouge. Liz gave us a few recommendations for restaurants and sites to see in Baton Rouge. Which were all right on especially Poor Boy Lloyds. When we arrived to Napoleon House it was spotless and nice and cool. We loved the old world charm mixed with the new world charm, beautiful window treatments. We only did breakfast at the house but it had a really wonderful updated kitchen. The beds were so comfortable. It was so nice to come home and settle in after a long hot day at the Jazz Festival. There are two apartments we stayed in the upper apartment. We meant the other guests in the lower apartment. They gave us a tour of the lower apartment which was also very lovely. I would highly recommend this property. We cannot wait to return to Napoleon House. Amazing!!!! Thank you, Liz for sharing your beautiful home. We will definitely return, Diane & Mark
All the best!!!!!…

Beautiful house, great experience

  • 5 of 5
We rented this house for my sister's bachelorette weekend. It worked out perfectly. There were 8 girls and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is beautiful. We enjoyed being near Magazine Street to shopping and great restaurants. When we went to the French Quarter we grabbed cabs or hopped on the streetcar. The only complaint would be the hot water did not always last too long. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend the house to anyone. The owners were responsive and easy to work with and my deposit was returned promptly.

The Napoleon House is a must!

  • 5 of 5
I just returned from a weekend stay at the Napoleon House for my best friends bachelorette weekend. The house was perfection! It's was spacious, with plenty of room for all 10 of us. The decor is immaculate, and very New Orleans style. The architecture is stunning. The sound of church-bells from across the street ran through the house each day, which was always a welcomed beautiful sound. The owners are a breeze to work with and very responsive. The location of the house is perfect for those who want the "New Orleans" feel without the loud, hard-partying noise of Bourbon, but close enough to go if you want! It is 4 blocks from the St. Charles street car, and we had no problems getting cabs when we didn't want to walk to the streetcar. We all felt safe walking in the neighborhood at night. There were plenty of towels (bring your own detergent if you want to do laundry. there is a very nice washer/drawer but no detergent). I will most definitely be returning to The Napoleon House, and I can't imagine that there is a better option (price, location, New Orleans feel) out there! The only suggestion I have is to consider bringing some extra trash bags. Perhaps it was just because we had a welcome party for our friend with gifts the first night and accumulated more trash than usual guests, but we ran out of trash bags after a day and a half. I think there were only about 3 when we arrived.

Unbelievable Service !

  • 5 of 5
My family and I had planned a trip for October of this year. I exchanged several emails with Liz and my questions were always answered quickly and kindly. Unfortunately, our plans fell through and we had to cancel. Our deposit was returned to us in less than a week with a very kind, hand written-note.

I was very impressed with these owners. I am so disappointed we won't be staying with them this year, but based on my experience, I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to stay in New Orleans!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5
Rented the Napolean House to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. It turned out to be a great place for us and two other couples. The house is very spacious with lots of New Orleans charm. It was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. I think our favorite feature however was the location. Walking distance to Magazine Street and St. Charles. Our only complaint was there was just too much to do and see in such a short time. Hope to come back soon! Thanks for making this place available!
