Overview

Overview

Jonesport Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, spacious, open floor plan, easily sleeps 6

This gorgeous 2,500 square foot waterfront home was designed to be as comfortable as home yet different enough that you feel like you are 'away'. The house is bright, open and warm with hand rubbed cedar walls and over 30 windows. There are incredible views of the sunset over the river from the main room with its 25 foot ceilings and south facing wall of windows. The views abound as all rooms orient to the water.

Though secluded and private, you are minutes from town and the lobster wharf (think lobster off the boat). There are miles of dirt road out the front door for walking or biking and the Nature Conservancy with its spectacular hikes to the open ocean is only a few miles away.

The kayaking can't be beat, just wind your way down the river to the reach. Enjoy the abundant wild life and myriads of birds. When the tide is out you can gather clams in the 'front yard'.

Local artists display their work at the library, Nelson's Decoy Gallery and Tall Barney's Restaurant

More About the House:

This house is at once luxurious and quaint. My father and I spent four years designing and building this house with the help of countless friends and family members and the result is truly a work of art. We milled all the wood floors from oak and maple trees. In fact the first floor is all spalted maple, made from a single 200 year old tree that we salvaged, creating perhaps the only spalted maple floor anywhere!. The walls are hand rubbed tongue and groove cedar that just glows in the light. The grandeur of the high ceilings offsets the cabin-like feel of the wood, lending a certain homey-ness and mystique that is truly unique.

The dining area is spacious and the custom kitchen has hand made cherry cabinets and 24' of polished concrete countertops. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a 6 burner professional Wolf stove. Above the main floor is a 600 square foot sleeping 'loft' with a master bath. The ground floor has a TV gathering room, a private bedroom and its own full bath. Enjoy sitting out to read or relax or dine alfresco on the water facing deck or patio. Don't miss using the out door shower!

The house is furnished with comfy couches and gas-burning 'woodstoves' for ambience and warmth.

Children and pets are welcome, however with the wide spaced rails on the deck and loft it is not child safe for very young children.

In town dining is limited. The local grocery is clean and well stocked. Fresh lobster, clams and mussels are to be had right off the boat. and For evenings out you are only @ 20 minutes from excellent dining in adjacent towns. Millbridge not only has a fine restaurant but a quaint movie theater. If you are lucky they will tickle the keys of the old player piano before the show starts.

Whether you are looking for some time away from it all, a romantic getaway, or some quality family time-- this is the place for you!

About Sage Aronson

I am 23 and my dad and I purchased this land together while I was in high school. Over the next four summers my dad, friends, and sister worked together to build this house. It all started on day sitting at a diner when my dad and I drew up some plans for the house on a napkin and from there on in using our skills in woodworking and consulting with fellow construction worker friends we built this gorgeous house.

Why Sage Aronson chose Jonesport

We chose this property because it was close to our family cabin that we had been living in every summer since I was 8 and so we already knew and loved the area so we thought what better way to show our love for the community than to share this special place with others.

What makes this cabin unique

This is one of the few places on earth where you can escape from the hectic chaos of everyday life and just relax in front of a gorgeous view. You will find yourself mesmerized by the small town feel as everyone waves to you as you drive by. One of my favorite memories of staying up here is laying out on the porch with a few of my friends as we all played guitar and sang and just looked up at the vast night sky. We saw 32 shooting stars that night it was truly phenomenal. There is no light pollution so on a clear night you can see the milky-way and sometimes even the northern lights. You truly couldn't ask for a more unique and beautiful place to vacation. I have been coming up here since I was 8 and my sister was 5 and we both still look forward to getting back up here and escaping all the chaos of our everyday lives and just going out on the boat or reading a book in front of the sunset. It is truly a magical place.

Wonderful Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second visit to Jonesport, and we were thrilled to spend our vacation this year in this spectacular home. Our family of four (including two teenage girls) was incredibly comfortable here. Biking and kayaking were great right from the house - the paddle into Beals/Jonesport harbor was a great trip. Birding from the deck was an added bonus - eagles overhead daily and the shorebirds following the tide were diverse and fun to watch. The property is close to the small towns of Jonesport and Beals - both very welcoming - and we really enjoyed the Wass Island Preserve. We ate our fill of local lobsters, clams and blueberries - all bought direct from the field, boat and wharf. The owners built and maintain this property to the highest standard - everything was perfect! Thanks!

Wonderful!

We filled the house with family. It was perfect. Enough beds hidden through out, leaving wonderful living space. It is private and quiet. Wonderful wood floors, and woodwork through out. Thanks so much for a perfect place for us to stay for our family reunion in nearby Jonesboro.

The taste of the air

  • 4 of 5
I grew up visiting my great aunt out at the coast (I'm from inland Maine), and the couple nights I spent out here evoked for me wonderful memories of childhood walks along tidal rivers, the smell of the salt marshes hanging in the still morning air while watching the sunrise from the deck, coffee warming my hand.
Its a breathtaking structure, with cathedral ceilings and a wall of windows looking out towards the promises of waterway exploration. I can't wait to come back to this outpost, happily tucked several decades into the past.

Gorgeous property, great attention to detail!

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely beautiful home, and incredible views from the large windows in the living room. Upper room has a large bed and private bathroom. Kitchen is full of all the amenities you could want. The house is very cozy and great for families or groups of friends who revel in spending quality time together. The basement downstairs is a tad chilly, so you'll want to double up on blanket or stoke the wood burning stove. Other than that, the house was clean, comfortable, and exceptionally well maintained.

Owner's Response: Thanks Dan. Indeed you can use the propane stove in the basement (it is made to look like a wood burner) if it gets chilly down there. There are three such stoves in the house but, in the summers, we only use the big one on the first floor in the evening before bed. Glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope to see you next year!

Quintessential Maine Experience

  • 5 of 5
To wake up in this amazing abode and then look out of the gigantic westward- facing windows looking onto what is Birch Cove is an absolute quintessential Beals, Maine experience. The stark beauty of the place will leave one speechless and fully satisfied.

The warm, rustic cabin-feel is delightful as well as the fully furnished kitchen, which made for a great experience with my boyfriend and close friends in Spring 2011. One of the most memorable experiences of my time here was taking a steaming-hot, outdoor shower in freezing, 30-degree weather, while looking out into the Maine wilderness. While there is an indoor shower for those less interested than I in such an experience, this made my vacation! ; ) My friends and I also enjoyed steaming lobsters we grabbed from a local friend and jamming to music around a campfire. This is a perfect home for hanging out with a group of friends or family or for a quiet, romantic evening with a loved one. Gemütlich is the only word I can think to accurately describe the mood of this place.

The owners and managers of this property are amazing! Super fun people with a great sense of adventure and comfort. They were also very informative and easy to get a hold of. I highly recommend this place to other vacationers.

Gorgeous house and location

  • 5 of 5
The house is simply beautiful, as is the scenery around it. The house is very open, with plenty of sunlight. It is comfortable and fits a large group easily. The sunsets, as advertised, are spectacular. The family that rents the place are lovely people, keep everything clean, and are very helpful. There is nothing bad I can say about the property or the stay!

It boasts a huge, two shower-head shower with tile walls and a custom poured concrete base and a window (in the shower) that looks out at the water. The room has two huge skylights. The floor is acid stained slate. A custom concrete countertop made by the owners. The first floor half bath has cedar walls, an oak ceiling, and a custom maple sink made from the same tree as the dining room table and the first floor. The basement bath is luxurious with high ceilings, cedar walls, and a blue tiled shower.

Though we only have two 'official' bedrooms, there are tons of couches, pull outs, and futons in both living room areas. We have used the house as an old style cabin -- and have had no complaints about sleeping arrangements.
