Come enjoy a slice of island paradise on the white sands of quiet Pine Island, the only beach in Hernando County. Just bring your clothes and toothbrush and enjoy your stay in our bright, fully furnished, 1600 sq. ft. stilt island home.
Our island home is fully furnished, featuring a 55' LED HD flat screen TV (for when you aren't out enjoying Florida's Nature Coast); a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and granite counter tops; a large dining table that seats 6 (with additional seating at the breakfast bar). A master bedroom which features a private balcony that looks out to the Gulf (perfect for watching the amazing sunsets with your favorite beverage at the end of a beautiful day), a luxurious king bed and master bathroom, which includes a hair dryer...extra room in the luggage ladies ;) . The second bedroom features a queen bed, looks out to the Gulf, and is in close proximity to the guest bathroom. There is a day bed in the sitting area that has a trundle, so it can be used as two twin beds, or can easily be converted to a queen bed. Our home has an indoor washer and dryer as well as a wood burning fireplace, perfect to cuddle up around on those chilly nights.
Begin your day with a leisurely bike ride around Pine Island, or with a cup of coffee on the large sun deck as you watch the sunrise. Continue your day by basking in the sun on your own private beach at the end of the street, reading a book or watching the dolphins play in the Gulf; or a short walk away is Pine Island Park where you can grab a bite to eat at Willy's snack bar. Visit Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and see the live mermaid show (7 miles away). Tampa (40 minutes away via the Suncoast Parkway) offers Spring Training and the Rays for baseball lovers, the Buccaneers for football fans, and Busch Gardens for thrill seekers. Orlando (approximately 2 hours via Hwy 50) offers Orlando Magic for basketball fans, Disney World/Universal Studios for the young, and the young at heart, and Sea World and numerous other water parks for cool family time. Explore the many nature trails, enjoy a round a golf...there are endless possibilities on Florida's Nature Coast! Don't forget to head back to Pine Island in time to see the most amazing sunsets anywhere. This is truly a slice of island paradise.

We chose Pine Island for it's amazing island feel. It is like being on one of the Florida Keys, only it is green, quiet, and you still have all the amenities of the big city, without having to live in the big city. You can truly feel everyday stresses float away as you make the drive down Pine Island Dr. and pull into your island home.
Pine Island is located in Central Florida, so anything from theme parks to professional sporting events, to visiting any of Florida's famous springs are just a short drive away. No one said you have to leave the island...we have the only beach in Hernando County, and because it is only a short walk from the house, there is no parking fee.
Our trip to your place in Fla. was our first "big trip" since retirement. It was wonderful! What a great place! We went hiking, biking, sightseeing, kayaking, went to orange groves, olive groves, vineyards, and ate so much seafood I thought we would get mercury poisoning. We met several of your neighbors and they are great. The weather was kind of cool when we were there, some days there was a frost. That was ok with us, it was better than the 10 to 20 degree weather and 6 to 8 inches of snow they were getting back here. Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was a great vacation.
I can’t speak highly enough about the amazing stay we had at this property!! We routinely travel to FLA to visit/stay with family. On this occasion, we flew in for my father-in-law’s 80th birthday. Since there were so many visitors in town, we decided to find our own place and came across this gem! It was perfect to have family come visit (all of whom were very jealous!). We took advantage of the bicycles to ride over to the beach and adventure to the adjoining peninsula off of Bayou Drive. The clear bottom kayaks were so much fun to take onto both sides of the island and see crabs, horseshoe crab, birds and all sorts of fish. The house is an absolutely perfect beach house with beautiful surroundings, lots of tropical flowers and amazing views out every window. There was a huge binder full of details that were incredibly useful. Wifi helped us stay connected and the TV was perfect for watching the World Cup matches, too. :-)
The water was 87 degrees and from the private beach, you could wade/swim for what seemed forever on the soft sandy bottom. We used the provided folding chairs and coolers to bring some cocktails to the private beach and get lost in beauty. It was the absolute perfect place to watch sunsets. If you come out after dark with a flashlight – the crabs will play hide & seek with you. :-)
This place has everything you would need to have a perfect vacation. It’s so close to all Florida has to offer, yet off the path so you feel like it’s your own personal paradise. Thank you so much Jen and Carl for your flexibility to accommodate our 5:00am arrival :-) and sharing your beautiful home with us. We will absolutely stay here again!
We arrived at dusk and couldn't believe how beautiful the house and surroundings were. I walked down to the water while my husband found the key. It was cool and the water looked unreal--it and the clouds made a scene that was unforgettable. The house was very comfortable. We ate out everyday at the wonderful seafood retaurants. One day we drove down to Sarasota to the Der Dutchman and ate there and went to a flea market advertised on their website. We went to an orange grove there and another on the way back to Pine Island. We spent a morning at Weeki Wacki. The mermaid show was fun and the riverboat cruise was exciting. The price for the state park was reasonable. It was January and the days were sometimes cold and sometimes warm. We walked to the park at the end of the street. It was well maintained. The island is very peaceful and it is so close to a busy business area if you need anything. Such a pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Great stay. Owner has kayaks and bikes on site. House was very comfortable and clean. Sunsets were beautiful. Wlak out the door to a stroll on the beach. Becky Jacks restaurant was excellent!
This was everything we pictured and more. I stayed here with my daughter and family. It was exactly like it was in the VRBO description. As you drive up, the house just stands out and when you go in it says "I'm Home". They had everything. The kitchen was fully equipped, all the linens were there and cleaning supplies to. The Kayaks, gas grill (with gas and utensils) everything. It took us a whole 5 minutes to let go and relax. I took my granddaughter to Weeki Wachee to see the mermaid shows. Then next day it was off to Homosassa Springs Park. The public beach was great! The water was very shallow and we had a lot of fun making sand castles. Sitting on the seawall down the street and watching the sunsets was out of this world. They have a great movie selection for when it was raining. Something for the young and us old folks.
But mostly, the home owners were extremely helpful and very nice to work with which made our stay even better.
The next question you usually ask yourself, Would I go back? Most Definitely !!!!! This is a place that you can go back over and over again.
Thanks Again to Jen and Carl for providing such a beautiful vacation home.
When we arrived we instantly felt comfortable and at home, everything about it was nice. This home is in a wonderful location, very clean and has what you need to dine in if you choose too (or not :) ). My husband and I spent a fabulous week here but there is room for several others if your family is bigger. Viewing tropical sunsets are amazing from the master balcony and the beach is only about a 60 second walk from the living room. When the tide is in the Gulf comes all the way to the sea wall but when the tide is out you have beach a full of "Beach Stuff". We used the kayaks and saw a Dolphin, lots of rays and fish. When walking on the beach there will be lots of tiny crab about the size of a thumb nail that hide in holes in the sand and bigger ones in the water. We kayaked the Weeki Wachi and discovered a beautiful paradise. This river is a MUST if you like to be outdoors. We saw 2 manatee's swimming up river from Rodgers Park, very cool! Sunday we took an hour drive to catch a Ravs VS Yankee's game in St Petersburg. We were happy the traitor Suzuki Ichiro struck out (we are a Seattle fan family) LOL, just kidding. The Rays won!
Jen and Carl's home on Pine Island really is a therapeutic place to decompress from everyday stressors and just relax in comfort. If your a die-hard sports fan there is a 50 inch TV so as not to miss a play. These fantastic people will respond in a positive manner very quickly when you have a question or I'm sure if you have a problem. They have a binder with pamphlets and maps on the coffee table if your in need of ideas for the day or week. Carl loves to eat at BECKYJACKS, we enjoyed GREEK CITY CAFE tremendously..............yum didn't catch Jen's favorite.
We work in a very high stress environment and are already trying to figure out when we can go back and take our college aged children to enjoy this Slice of paradise (even the neighbors are nice).
Just an afterthought.....if you need to check in for a flight or just print out boarding passes the Springhill Library is not far away and the staff there is very helpful.
THANK YOU JEN & CARL!!!!!!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this lovely beach/island home. We love less populated and more natural areas and this fit us perfectly. We made regular use of the kayaks both in the gulf and paddling around the island. We rented a kayak and stand up paddle board on the Weeki Watchee River and then rented a canoe on the Chassahowitzka River. It was relaxing and slow paced, just what we needed!
The house was comfortably furnished, and we felt like we were home. Everything we needed was there. The neighborhood is very quiet even though there is a state beach park at the end of the road.
Thank you to Carl and Jen for sharing their lovely home.
