Punta Aloe is one of the original, exclusive developments on Culebra. The location is only an 8 minute walk to town, sweeping bay views and surrounded by old growth fruit, palm and nut trees. You'll have access to two private docks (for dinghy tie-up or swimming). Sailboats can be anchored or moored. The house is quiet and convenient for holiday travelers. Our family has owned this property for 30 years and demonstrate pride of ownership with recent upgrades including new kitchen cabinets, new refrigerator, new ceiling fan and updated bathroom.
The home sits atop a hillside to afford beautiful views and may not be appropriate for anyone with physical problems climbing stairs. This is the only rental unit in this home. You will not be bothered by the sound of footsteps, children, construction or dogs... only Coqui and the sounds of the Bay.
Please Note- Although we do provide free WiFi, the connection speeds across the island are often quite slow (more similar to dial-up from the late 80s) and intermittent.
It's fine for checking email, but downloading movies, skype calls, etc. can be unreliable or unrealistic.
This is an island-wide reality & one that helps reinforce the 'slow-it-down & take it easy' approach to life the Culebrense enjoy year-round.
If your need to work from Culebra, it's best to rely upon your Mobile Telephone Internet connection. Culebra is part of The United States of America and most service providers do not charge extra. Call ahead to make sure...

We're a family of four that was in search of the perfect quiet island. We found it in Culebra.
The Owner purchased this villa in 1980
We first came to Culebra in 1979. At that time it was hard to find rentals, so we bought a house that we could use for family trips.
The huge wooden decks are signature features on all Punta Aloe Properties. The views of Ensenada Honda, Moon-rises over the Mountains are amazing. The Frigate Bird's daily commute (right around happy hour) is always a fun treat to see from the decks.
This is a small villa located at the top of 60+ steps. Seems like a long climb but when you reach the top the reward is a spectacular view of the bay. This house is the highest in the neighborhood. For an even better view we climbed to the owner's deck (with their permission). The property landscaping is lush. The deck was a great place to relax with coffee and watch the sunrise. Cooling cross winds kept the villa comfortable even in daytime heat. There is an air conditioner but we did not use it.
The villa is about one mile(1.6 km) from Dewey, the only town on the Culebra. Except for driving to the beaches, we were able to walk to town for everything else.
It was as expected. The local manager, Alberto, was very responsive. We texted him for something while at breakfast and it was at the villa by the time we walked back.
Do not count on WiFi internet access. It is present but weak and gets interference from another WiFi that shares the same channel. Disconnects are frequent. I had ATT 4G service which was exceptional everywhere on Culebra so it was a minor issue for me but had I been planning to use my PC I would have been disappointed.
Bring clothes pins--there is a clothes line and the constant breeze makes for great drying conditions.
If you want coffee get it in Puerto Rico before coming to Culebra. Most other needs are available at Milka Market which seems to have a little of everything, including clothes pins.
Even without a car you can get to the apartment by walking from the ferry station. Its close to the town but also secluded from the tourist crowd. The apartment's deck is the best part of this place. Was so nice to waking up to a view like that every morning and having your coffee. The owners told us that we can use the upstairs deck too, which had a even better view of the island. There are nice restaurants around the town so you don't have to worry about food, but if you want to cook, there are all the basic kitchen stuff in the apartment. We loved Culebra and enjoyed our stay a lot.
Loved the location & property. Owners are terrific. Very private & serene.
This was our second trip to Culebra. The apartment was fantastic! Close walk to town, but far from the hustle & bustle of any street noise. The owners let us use the upstairs deck which was AMAZING...!! The grounds are nicely manicured and planted with lush tropicals like Papaya, Passion Fruit, Breadfruit, Citrus, etc. Exactly as advertised & presented- Would definitely stay here again!!!
My husband and I stayed at Punta Aloe 2 for 5 nights. We were unhappy with how dirty and buggy it was. I contacted the owner, who was pleasant and said she would send someone to clean it, but no one came. When I told her that no one came, she offered an additional night. We didn't have that flexibility in our schedule and really just wanted to not be grossed out. We had a great time on Culebra despite the accommodations. We're not finicky; it was gross.
The place was nice and cozy for our getaway. We rented a jeep so we could get all over the island quickly, so our stay was all about cards on the deck after days in the sun and some great meals on the island. The owners info package was invaluable and proved to be the best resource we found for getting the most out of our stay.
