A gem in one of the most lovely, private areas of the Hamptons, tucked between Southampton and Bridgehampton. It is south of the highway and a five minute drive to a clean ocean beach that's exclusively for residents. We maintain it as a country house for ourselves and our family with children. Sits on a semicircular double-lot (an acre), that looks out onto Mecox Bay, with a private dock to drop in our canoe. The gardens featured on garden tours, surround a pool, koi pond, gazebo, a pool house with bathroom and outdoor shower. There are four bedrooms, including a cute children’s room, plus two rooms that can be converted into bedrooms. There are two large living rooms with one overlooking Mecox Bay, a library, an airy sunroom, a large modern kitchen (Subzero, etc.), multiple charming places to eat inside and out, an audio system that extends throughout the property and wi-fi. Four full bathrooms, steam shower, and two jacuzzis. Separate outdoor pool house with bathroom and a great outdoor shower. There is a large pergola with a swing.
The house is especially suited for entertaining with three refrigerators, two dishwashers, total outdoor and indoor entertainment system, extensive landscape lighting, and total privacy. Perfect as a wedding site with tent for 100 people.
Home Available in May-October, 2013 We are a retired couple with grandchildren who love the house and area. If you have children, we can suggest all sorts of amusing activities for them, as well as a local summer day camp which our grandchildren love. There are stables nearby and free public tennis courts, great libraries, charming cafes in nearby Bridgehampton, and lots of great walking areas. The municipality has a progressive program of buying development rights from farmers which has preserved huge swaths of farmland in the area that would surely have fallen into the hands of developers otherwise. As a result, the area has maintained its very pleasant low density feel. One of our neighbors even turns his cornfield into a labyrinth that kids adore. You can also go apple picking just down the street. The Hamptons Classic Horse Show is only a mile away!
This is a gorgeous area in one of the most desirable and exclusive sections of the Hamptons south of the highway near restaurants and shopping. The house is on a dead-end road so there is little traffic and no noise. Our neighbors include Alan Alda and Richard Gere. We've got an Old Town canoe that you're welcome to use to paddle around Mecox Bay and bikes for exploring the area, or heading to the beach. The house is fully air-conditioned though we seldom use it as there are great breezes that sweep up from Mecox Bay. There are lots of deer, rabbits, and species of birds that love our little arm of Mecox Bay called Calf Creek (we have binoculars and field guides if you're into birding).Kitchen is fully equipped with several sets of China,European linens and down comforters in bedrooms.
Magnificent space for an outdoor wedding: The grounds on this property are truly private and hold beautiful plantings to host an outdoor ceremony and wedding with a tent. The property overlooks Mecox Bay and is totally surrounded with large specimen trees and shrubs.
We could handle 100 people. The owner is an an event planner and would supervise the entire wedding. Caterers could be chosen from a list of approved people. Flowers in the garden can be used for decoration depending on the season.
Home would be available for 10 people during the weekend of wedding. Available from May- October 2013..
