In 2000, my husband had a vision when he saw an old condemned farmhouse on acres of over grown weeds. With a lot of hard work and that vision, he created a wonderful business in 2003, Sandy Creek Pet Resort. Since then, with more hard work and patience, he saw more and more potential, and together, we built our new home. (the farm house has a new home, thanks to Craigs List)
We are obviously pet lovers, and encourage people to enjoy their vacation with their pets. We have 4 dogs and 3 cats of our own, and we raise dogs. Life is good.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2000
While we were building our home, we lived in the Carriage House, and it is now our vacation rental.
My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days after a hectic summer. So we found Sandy Creek and headed there for a furl axing few days before starting another school year. We had a wonderful time! It was a great place with a beautiful country view. The pool, local shops, and especially our hosts were all 5 star. We highly recommend this place to get away and relax. Although we did not bring our dogs, they would have loved being here. A great kennel.
We stayed 4 nights while exploring the local area. A comfortable, quiet, and modern accommodation, the "carriage house" is the over-the-garage apartment (2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, living/kitchen/eating area) you see in the picture. Private entrance through garage. Lots of light with high ceiling. Comfortable beds. It also has a private balcony with a table and 2 chairs. Full-size fridge, large eating table with 4 chairs and adequate supplies to cook a simple meal. Nearby Wal-Mart (about 15 minutes) for groceries.
Hosts John and Suzanne were welcoming and gracious. We would definitely stay there again.
John and Sue were the most accommodating and helpful hosts for this family with a small puppy in tow. The carriage house was spacious, comfortable, fully-outfitted and nicely decorated. The deck and the pool were great extras. Our puppy had a great vacation at the inn's pet resort as well. We were free to spend the day exploring Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, knowing our dog was having a blast and would be there to greet us upon our return each evening. We will definitely be back!
Our family recently returned from an overnight stay at the Inn at Sandy Creek. We were in the area for a 2-day regatta. While we watched our son sail on Saturday and Sunday, our dogs were able to relax in the cool AC at the Carriage House. Suzanne and John even let them out while we were gone. The pool was the perfect place to cool off after the races on Saturday. The upper deck was a beautiful spot to observe the full moon and enjoy the breeze. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sandy Creek and appreciate the hospitality.
My husband and I recently spent the past 6 weeks in the Carriage House at the Inn at Sandy Creek while we were refurbishing our trawler. What a delightful find this was! The setting for the Inn is lovely and relaxing, and John and Suzanne are the best hosts one could ask for; they met our every need. We had all the amenities of home and then some...internet, satellite, washer/dryer, fully accessorized kitchen, and (a plus!) pool and jacuzzi. Most important for us, John and Suzanne kindly allowed us to store the contents of our boat in their garage while it was being worked on. And probably the best part about our stay is that after being there 6 weeks, Suzanne and John have become friends!
We highly recommend the Carriage House at the Inn at Sandy Creek for either short or extended stays. Truly, it is a very comfortable home away from home.
My family (husband, daughter, mother, dog and I) wanted a last-minute quiet getaway over Easter weekend. I contacted Sue and John Holt at the Inn at Sandy Creek and was pleasantly surprised at how easy they made the decision process for us. No hidden fees or deposits, no contracts. Just a credit card to hold the reservation and I was done.
The Carriage House itself was lovely. Beautifully appointed with incredibly comfortable beds, it has nice touches like a baby gate to keep the dog upstairs as well as a full-sized washer and dryer. There is a pool and hot tub, grills (gas and charcoal) and a huge patio. It is out in the country with a beautiful view, more than enough room for our dog to romp, and dark enough for some wonderful stargazing.
Our hosts were laid back and helpful, even letting our dog out while we enjoyed a day at Colonial Williamsburg.
I would highly recommend the Inn at Sandy Creek for anyone wanting a quiet place to relax. It was close enough to the things we wanted to do while being a nice escape. We look forward to coming back during the summer to hang out by the pool.
