Overview

Ruidoso House Rental Photos and Description

Four Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Great view of Sierra Blanca

Location: Ruidoso, NM, USA (Three Hours South of Albuquerque, NM, One Hour West of Roswell, Two ½ Hrs. North of El Paso, TX). Airports at all three locations.

Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (sleeps 12). Approximately 1,600 SF.

We purchased the house in 2003 and it’s been a wonderful place to enjoy family memories over the years. The crisp cool mountain air, the laid back attitude and the numerous activities that Ruidoso has to offer is like few other places. Our house is located in a quiet area near Upper Canyon, about five minutes to downtown, ten minutes to the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino, fifteen minutes to the Racetrack and/or the Ski Apache Resort.

A recently constructed large deck in the front of the house allows you to start your day with a cup of coffee on the deck while you watch the deer, listen for the turkeys and occasionally see Elk in the neighborhood. In the evenings we enjoy having a glass of wine while watching the sunset over Sierra Blanca and listening to the wildlife.

Ruidoso offers enjoyment for every season. From snow skiing and snowboarding at nationally known Sierra Blanca Ski Resort to tubing at the lower runs, in the winter; to horse racing at Ruidoso Downs, home of the All American Futurity, the “Worlds Richest Quarter Horse Race, in the Summer, there is plenty to keep you busy. There is also casino gambling at Billy the Kid Casino and at the world famous Inn of the Mountain Gods, to provide plenty of opportunities to test your luck. There is also golf at a number of local courses including the championship links at the Inn of Mountain Gods, Links and Cree Meadows.

Meet your friends at several wonderful restaurants or bars in Ruidoso. We have listed some of our favorite below in the Google maps sections.

By renting our house you get the wonderful comforts of a home, extreme privacy and spacious accommodations for nearly the same price as a cabin or motel in town.

There are two separate Living areas in the house, one on each of the two levels. Both of them have, flat screen TV’s (one with DVD), along with Wood Burning Fireplace. The Living room is down the hall from the Master Bedroom with a Queen size bed (2 people), Twin Beds (2 people) in second bedroom, Futon (2 people) in the Living Room and Futon (2 people) in bedroom. On second level there is full size bed (2 people) in one bedroom and Pull out Couch (2 people) in the other Living Area.

The house comes fully furnished: Linens, Blender, Coffee Maker, Crock Pot, Cooking Utensils, Toaster and Washer and Dryer.

About Susie Wallace

I have been in the title industry since 1974, I took a few detours but am now back for good!

I enjoy art and spend a lot of time painting-watercolor. My enjoyment for art started in 1993 as I took my first watercolor class and have continued since then. I have been in Alto Art Studio Tour, Lincoln County Art Studio Tour and numerous other showings while living in Ruidoso. I have always been inspired by the BLUE sky in New Mexico, the southwest architect and many beautiful Churches, mountains and other outdoor scenes in Ruidoso and Lincoln County. I live in East Texas, so my subjects have changed. I live within Sam Houston National Forest and near Lake Livingston.

In addition to my art, I take my dog - Abby for short walks. I work full time in Conroe. I enjoy volunteering at the Assisted Living Facility that is near my work.

Susie Wallace purchased this house in 2003

Why Susie Wallace chose Ruidoso

I have had many memorable visits to Ruidoso since the 1960s with my parents. In the late 1990s my mom took two of my boys and myself for a trip to Ruidoso and knew that I was ready to invest in a place in the mountains. So I found a condo at Pinon Park Condos, have kept it as an investment. In 2003, I made the leap and converted my part-time residency status to full-time by purchasing the Ponderosa Cabin. Since 2003, my adult children, dogs and I have had many memorable times at the house and in Ruidoso and Lincoln County.

Late 2011, I moved back to Texas to be closer to family.

What makes this house unique

I love the summer in Ruidoso-it may be warm during the day, but by 7pm, it cools down and have the windows open during the night and wake up to a cool morning. In the winter, we may get 6 to 8 in of snow but it is gone by the next afternoon.

When you have that much snow, it is God's way of telling you to slow down for the day-and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

My neighborhood is quiet-I remember the first time my oldest son came to visit after I moved to Ponderosa Cabin. He whispered and said, 'it is so quiet'. My house is almost on top of its own mountain and is shared with some great neighbors. We would get together about once a month-I miss them and that time together so I hope you have the opportunity to meet them. They are all great people!

Pets-always! I have had lots of deer, turkeys and elk. Sometimes, I have had a bear visit (not in the house), but in the yard. After all, we took over their place.

Horse racing in the summer, Raspberry picking in late August, Apple picking in the neighborhood, smell fireplaces and Motorcycle Rally in the fall, Ski Apache opens Thanksgiving Day along with all the Christmas Festivities (parade, tree lighting and etc.). http://www.ruidoso.net

I love Lincoln County, get in on some history of Billy the Kid or pick Raspberries or head to the Lavender Farm, in Hondo Valley. There is always something going on in Ruidoso/Lincoln County.

Our family has stayed here for the second time and have enjoyed it each time. Great house setup and room for all. Great location and view. I highly recommend renting this house, (except don't choose the dates we want to return on). We will go back!!!

Unbelievable place

  • 5 of 5

Like everyone says the pictures don't do this place justice. This place is amazing! Quiet area beautiful scenery even though we got 3 inches of snow the first night we were there the patio with the grill still worked out for us. There were 9 of us in our party there was plenty of room for everryone to spread out and do our thing with 2 living areas. Peter the manager was nice when he greeted us and showed us a better place to park, Susie the owner even called me just to check to see if everything was fine when we arrived. We are already planning another trip back for next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the positive review. It always makes me feel good to know that you all enjoyed your stay. I want my guests to come away from their stay with "WOW". Plus you received a little snow-that is always good. I have one picture of your car covered with snow but if you would like to go on my Facebook Page, "Ponderosa Cabin" and like it and share photos that are during your stay at my house, I would love it. I hope to hear from you again, have the best in 2015 for you and your family.

Great place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

This was the third time me and most of my girls fastpitch softball team stayed there. Total there were 10 of us, and the home had plenty of room for everyone. The scenery was great and other than the pizza delivery guy not finding the address it was a super weekend. We will definately stay there again.

Excellent

  • 4 of 5

We found the accommodations fine with lots of room, and were pleased with our stay. The owner and manager were both very nice and pleasant to deal with. The only negative, and a slight one for us, was the steps to different levels inside for several older visitors.

GREAT!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family get away and I would not have changed a thing. The house was so amazing, the pictures do not give it justice at all. my family of five and my best friend and her family of five all had plenty of room and the kids loved the deer that came to the house every morning. The view of the mountain from the porch was breath taking and we can't wait to go again. Thank you for everything, it was a great trip with many wonderful memories.

Owner's Response: Megan, thank you so much for the great review. I always like hearing good things about my favorite house and town. I always want my guest to feel at home and very WELCOMED! I hope to hear from you again. Summer is a great time too-warm during the day but cool at night and lots of things to do or do nothing but "veg" on the deck and watch the hummingbirds!

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, wow, wow! First of all, the pictures just don't do this place justice, it's way bigger and really has that cabin feel in person! It's beautiful, spacious and the decor is so quaint and has all sorts of little extra touches to make you feel right at home. The spacious kitchen and two living rooms allow for plenty of room for bigger groups. The location is ideal, just right outside of midtown. The owner is so helpful and hospitable and made us feel very welcomed. This is a wonderful place to stay, if you're thinking about renting it for a get away, DO IT! You wont be disappointed!
