They say you can't judge a book by its cover, and that old adage is certainly true of this little vacation cabin in the woods of Rhododendron. Pass through the doorway of the simple exterior, and inside you'll find a cute, cozy little space for your Mt. Hood getaway! Perfect for two couples traveling together, friends, or families, this little house is big on style but light on your budget.
Upon entering, you'll be right in the main living room, with its shiny hardwood floors, comfortable love seat, overstuffed chair, and classic wood stove. Antique wood furniture accents this room and you'll easily be able to find a nice spot to settle in for an afternoon cup of tea or glass of wine - maybe even a light snack on the coffee table as you plan out the next day's adventure. A flat screen TV and a DVD player is available for entertainment - all you'll need to do is pick a movie and pop the popcorn. In the winter, settle in and luxuriate in the ambiance of a roaring fire while the snow comes down outside.
A step down from the living room is a small kitchen and dining area with table seating for four. Although there is no dishwasher, it's a cute space with all the other major appliances needed for easy meal preparation. Savor homemade blueberry pancakes in the morning before heading out, a hearty pasta meal at night, and after dinner, you can finish the wine while doing dishes together - just think of it as fun vacation bonding! Also in the kitchen area is a washer and dryer for making sure you always have clean socks for exploring the abundance of Mt. Hood attractions.
The bigger of the two bedrooms is located just off the living room. With a queen sized bed, dresser, and closet for clothes storage, this is a very comfortable space. Striped bedding and stylish accents create a country cottage vibe. Sunken down a step, the second bedroom shares that aesthetic, but with a full sized bed. A full bathroom with tub/shower combo is located right nearby. This home is dog friendly so be sure to bring your furry, four-legged companions with a $10 per dog, per day fee.
This quiet neighborhood of historic cabins is tucked into the woods, just off highway 26, along the Mt. Hood Scenic Byway. With a location less than two miles away from The Courses, you'll want to bring your clubs and play at Oregon's first golf resort. Additionally, there's a spa and a pub at the resort, so even those not interested in playing on the green can enjoy a massage, followed by a glass of wine and a Smoked Salmon BLT. It's a short stroll to the ZigZag River, or you can head up the mountain to access miles and miles of hiking trails, mountain biking trails, fishing holes, and beautiful alpine lakes surrounded by colorful wildflowers.
Like all the towns near Mt. Hood, Rhododendron offers many winter activities as well! Nearby Mt. Hood Ski Bowl is less than 15 minutes away and Timberline is only a 25 minute drive east. The National Forest lands that surround the home offer plenty of opportunities for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Even with all these activities right close by, you may find that your favorite pastime is sitting in front of a fire back at the cabin with a steaming mug of hot cocoa. Come discover the year round fun available at Mt. Hood and this lovely little Douglas Fir Cabin in the woods.
