About Cathy Cabrera

I grew up in this beautiful home that I recently restored. The home is full of happy memories and I'm looking forward to creating many more with you, your friends, family as well as mine.

I grew up skiing in Alta, the best snow in the US! I love the mountains, rivers, lakes and pine trees. I spent the first 21 years of my life there and who knows.....one day I might spend the last 21 years there.

I have several homes that I rent on VRBO. I have met so many wonderful people over the last 3 years on this site. I love being part of the VRBO family.

Cathy Cabrera purchased this house in 1947

Why Cathy Cabrera chose Salt Lake City

Because the property is a 5 minute drive to the UofU and downtown SLC it is perfect for:

- Visiting professors or doctors of UofU or U Hospital

- Family members of UofU students

- Mormon conference

- Convention

-It is walking distance to an elementary -- -(McGillis and Roland Hall), East High School and UofU.

We have wonderful neighborhood in this old fashioned neighborhood

What makes this house unique

Comfortable ambience in this 3,000 sq foot estate on 1/4 acre. The rooms are spacious and well lit with natural light throughout.

The large back yard has a patio, expansive lawn, cut flower garden and herb garden.

There is an enclosed 2 car garage.

We have recently installed a top of the line furnace and air-conditioner that keeps the home comfortable in all seasons.

We have all new top quality appliances in the updated kitchen.

The bathroom tiles are original and most fixtures are updated giving the 1920's look.

The large laundry room is located in the basement with a new washer & dryer. Laundry shoots to the laundry room service each floor.

The basement is fully finished with a gas fireplace and large library. There is an additional bedroom-bathroom that will be available next fall.

We have the most wonderful neighbors! The family across the street has been here since 1935. The next door neighbors are the new family on the block, only 25 years. Respectful, kind friendly......everything anyone would want for neighbors!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cathy we loved your home and had a fantastic visit to the SLC area for a family wedding.

We held court at the house for breakfasts each day and all of the guests found your home to be

comfortable and endearing.

The beds were great. The bedding was lovely. It was all good.

We thank you for your efforts and we will certainly consider staying with you again when called to SLC

in the future.

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Four months in Ski Country

  • 5 of 5
Where better to ski, than Salt Lake City and where better to stay than in a charming Tudor house that feels like a home, lovingly maintained by the owner who grew up in the house. We skied at five different areas and are coming back next year to do at least three that we did not visit this year, all within 30 minutes to an hour's drive. The house has extremely comfortable beds, lots of storage space, a full dining room, a well stocked kitchen, and a beautiful breakfast nook overlooking the backyard where Rocky Mountain Quail visited all winter and spring. The house sits high above town overlooking the mountains, with one bus stop to downtown a block away and the other to the University and the Sugarhouse area two blocks away. There are so many wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, and brewpubs that we just kept exploring. Theatres, cinemas, and museums are readily accessible from the Trax/bus system. The only drawbacks were the one full bathroom upstairs, but I understand there will be a second in the basement next month, and the driveway which was a bit narrow for our van. Probably the best recommendation for staying here is that the owner was wonderfully responsive to any needs we had over our long stay. She handled a problem immediately from afar or gave us permission to talk to the local people who help her maintain the house. Our four month stay was wonderful!

Charming home and neighborhood

  • 5 of 5
We drove in from Washington state for my Grandfather's wedding on November 1st. We have young children and wanted to arrive on Halloween, in time to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. The home was charming and accommodating and the neighborhood was perfect for trick-or-treating. Cathy (owner) was very friendly and easy to work with. There was plenty of space and beds for my children, my brother and his wife. We prepared some meals in the home and ate others out. I will note that although the kitchen had some cooking utensils, it was all very basic. We managed, though, and I would definitely stay here again. I would also recommend this home if you are staying in Salt Lake City. Downtown was only a 10 minute drive away.

Everything we expected and more!

  • 5 of 5
This house was beautiful! It was the most well stocked home we have ever rented. We have 5 in our family, two adults and three boys and we never had to wash towels because there were so many. All of the linens were top notch. After a heavy snow during the night, someone came and shoveled the driveway early in the morning. We met the cleaning lady when we arrived and she offered her assistance should we need anything during the week. The neighborhood streets are well taken care of. We loved staying in the city and driving to a different ski resort every day. Our son toured the University Campus and loved it, so we may be back. Coming from Texas, our sons were not used to a basement, so we did not use that bedroom, however it looked very comfortable and everything is new in the bedroom/bath addition. I loved looking through the book collection. I would recommend this home for anyone, however older renters may have a hard time with the stairs. The location was perfect for us with grocery stores and ski rental shops nearby. Our boys said that they would come back to Utah skiing over Colorado any day. We would stay in this home on our next trip back.

Christmas in Salt Lake

  • 5 of 5
Our family - we and our son, daughter in law and their teenager -spent Christmas week in this lovely home. We were there to welcome our new grandchild born in early December. Her parents have a small home within walking distance of this rental and were able to join us each day. We could not have had a better place. The owner was very easy to work with; the home is exactly as pictured and she even put up a Christmas tree for us. We were able to visit, dine and enjoy each other's company. A few of us went skiing which was literally a half hour away. I would highly recommend this property for families; there is plenty of space, excellent sleeping arrangements and a well supplied kitchen.

Great Home

We went to Salt Lake City for Thanksgiving and this was the perfect home for our stay. It has plenty of space and is nicely decorated giving it a very homey feel. It is close to many amenities - grocery, restaurants, etc.
