Myself, Wife and 2 small children have stayed over 15 weeks since 2011 at Mike and Nicky's Condo's in the Waikiki Banyan. 3611 is a superior unit over looking the Kualoa mountain range and 2601 is very nice with views of Diamond head and the ocean. Both units are well equipt with everything you need. (Still would like to see an automatic dishwasher though). Location is close to everything. We would walk to Safeway, Walmart and all over Waikiki. The walk is a reasonble distance and we did it pushing a double stroller with 2 kids. The beach is one block away, takes only 5 minutes to walk there. Mike and Nicky are very nice people who live only minutes away. If you need anything they take care of it immediately, they are very accommodating. When we booked our last trip I asked Mike if he had replaced the sofa and bed in 3611, he replied no but asked why? I mentioned we found them uncomfortable. A long story short when we arrived at the Condo there was a brand new convertible sofa and king size bed. Nice! The condo also comes with free parking, phone, and internet. Those extra's would be at least $ 30.00 / day at a hotel. The Banyan is nice, quiet and safe. The recreation deck is large and has plenty of barbecues for the guests to use. We always had enjoyable stays and can't wait to return.

Great condo and ownership

We had a great ten-day stay in this beautiful condo over Christmas and New Years. The condo was perfect for us, great kitchen, master bedroom is very large, bathroom has been updated, and the view was beautiful. It was nice being near the top floor enjoying looking out towards the mountains. It was the perfect distance from the beach. It was a short two-block walk, but far enough away that the area around the building was very quiet. The owners were great to work with and delivered on everything the promised. I would recommend you stay here during your visit to Waikiki.

Disappointing and not as represented

We booked this rental for 6 weeks and from all the photos and reviews, we expected to have a comfortable and pleasant stay.

PROS: The view was great - overlooking the Ala Wai golf course

The kitchen and bath were lovely as shown

CONS: The carpet had black spots all over. The sofa and chair have seen a lot of wear so that the seams were split and were not comfortable. The pillows were flat and should have been replaced. The linen was worn with bleach spots and there were only 1 set of sheets for the bed and 1 set for the twin beds(king bed separated) The towels were the same way. We were too embarrassed to have anyone over. We did mention to owner not as a complaint but as a note so that we wouldn't be charged from our security deposit. It also took almost a month to receive our security deposit back.

Owner's Response: Sue and Alan, Thank you so much for your feedback. Although somewhat surprised at the response I will go ahead and address your concerns. It is my utmost duty to do the best I can in offering a great unit at a great price. I care about all my clients and if anything is wrong I definitely go out of my way to make it right! Without happy customers, we would have no business so I thank you in advance. I met Alan the year before and he had visually inspected the unit and really liked it. Upon checking into the unit, I did receive information of a few stains on the carpet and signs of wear and tear on the couch. This was the only communication I received, and I was never told of any other issues or concerns or that the customer was having a poor time. If this had been communicated to me, I could have responded. However if we don't know, we don't know. I did take a look at the towels, and the previous client must have used a bunch of sunscreen with the towels because we do not leave bleach in the unit because we know it will get used inappropriately. Those linens have been thrown out and replaced. The pillows seemed in fair condition to me but the covers were removed and washed, with the addition of a few new ones. I mentioned that the couch was going to be replaced by the end of this year, and the carpet is always in a state of flux due to people not properly handling their drinks and or shoes etc. I truly wish everyone treated the unit like I did, but they do not. Because of this, constant maintenance and cleaning of the carpets is scheduled on a continual basis. The carpet maintenance had been scheduled for a couple weeks after Sue and Alan’s departure so the carpet is clean and looking fresh. Eventually the carpet is going to be replaced with Tile. The couch and beds will be New come 2014. I had mentioned to Sue that getting the deposit back while in Japan for two weeks would be difficult as the transaction was not handled electronically. Overall I am sad to hear this clients disappointment and will make the appropriate considerations for their next stay. Respectively Mike –owner-

Excellent Stay At Michael's Banyan Condo!!!

We stayed for one week at Michael's lovely condo at the Waikiki Banyan! I didn't know Michael before renting this condo, but while booking and emailing, I found him to be very helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and friendly - a pleasure to do business with! He has a gorgeous place, newly refurbished and Michael went to a lot of expense to update it to this beautiful state and is also is very easy to maintain and clean. You are right in the heart of Waikiki, where all the action and activities you would want to do in Oahu are. He includes parking which is a substantial cost saver if you have a car, but there is lots of public transportation options within walking distance. We cooked and ate in almost every night in the condo, as we were trying to save money, and we like our own cooking. There is plenty of dishes and cooking items to do this - all in top notch condition. We packed a lunch each day we went out, and the condo is close to a Safeway grocery store. Having a full kitchen and buying groceries really saved us a lot of money. He also provided boogie boards and snorkeling equipment so that you don't have to rent them, and we went to Hanauma Bay whenever it was open to snorkel early in the morning when you are assured to get in as the park gets full quickly. His condo it is an easy drive to get there. We loved using the condo's pool and hot tub after a long day, and it was very refreshing there and we met a lot of other people staying there. On the first day when we couldn't figure out how to start the shower (on the main faucet's bottom there is a turning nob there), we called Michael and he was able to help us immediately over the phone - great guy! Everyone we met in Hawaii were extremely friendly, helpful if they could be, and were excellent hosts to us! We are from the east coast, and if I were to do it again, I would ecommend staying 2 weeks due to the travel time and cost of flying there etc. I highly recommend this condo, and comparatively to the hotels and their cost, this was the best bet! After reading all the positive reviews for him we booked early, and I would recommend the same, as good rentals are not always easily found. So book early so that you aren't disappointed to not get to rent from him for the time you want. We had an outstanding vacation here! ALOHA!

Beautiful views, great location!

This unit is on the 36th (of 38 floors), with breathtaking mountain views, and a very nice, new kitchen/bathroom. It is literally 2 blocks away from the main Waikiki beach, which was very nice when you're lugging tons of beach geat. The owner, Mike, was a pleasure to work with, and was more than accommodating with all of our needs (even arranging for a crib for our infant). A few other random things we enjoyed; the bedroom has a divider door, so we could put down the baby and still enjoy our evening in the main room. The AC works great, which is key. The elevators are fast, and we never had to wait more than a minute. Free, very high speed wifi is nice as well. Parking is super convenient and also included, which was nice when we had a rental car. We would definitely book this place again and recommend it to friends/family. Thanks Mike!

A little bit of summer

The property was roomy, clean and comfortable. Location was great. Being nit picky, if you were to make meals there, more cutlery would be good. Wasn't what we would call a penthouse as the building is 38 stories but the mountain side view was relaxing. Glenn worked well to accomodate us, as this was a last minute booking.
