One-of-A-Kind Coastal Escape
If waking up to an ocean breeze in a stunning seaside farmhouse is on your vacation wish list, this house delivers in a spectacular way. Expect gorgeous coastal vistas, spacious grounds, and a friendly welcome from the locals. The property is situated on Cabot Trail – one of most sought-after destinations in Nova Scotia. With panoramic views, convenient access to local attractions, and room enough for six, this vacation destination is sure to please.
Whether you’re snapping photos of the rocky coast from the wrap around deck, searing a local catch on the new grill, or stargazing with friends, you have the makings of a wonderful vacation.
The house was tastefully updated in 2010. The first floor features an inviting open floor plan where a well-equipped modern kitchen (dishwasher included), dining area and sitting room provide the perfect backdrop for comfortable living and entertaining. A full bath and washer/dryer complete the ground floor. The second-floor sleeping quarters include three bedrooms—two with ocean views—and a half bath. The house has wi-fi internet access throughout.
Our vacation property is located in Cape Breton between the quaint fishing village of Cheticamp and the world renowned Margaree River Valley. Those who have stayed here aren't surprised that Travel and Leisure Magazine named Cape Breton the third best island to visit in the world, and the number one island to visit in the continental United States and Canada.
Alexander Graham Bell said it best, “I have travelled the globe. I have seen the Canadian and American Rockies, the Andes and the Alps and the highlands of Scotland, but for simple beauty, Cape Breton out-rivals them all.”
As a native of Cape Breton, my family and I return to the island whenever possible. We stumbled upon this property about 25 years ago and fell in love at first sight. The views cant be beat and the location is convenient to the area's attractions. A few years back, we fully renovated the house, and it now features a new kitchen, two new bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout. We've spent countless hours lounging outside enjoying the breathtaking ocean scenery. It never gets old and I'm sure you'll love it too.
My two travelling companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in this well-equipped and comfortable cottage on the Cabot Trail. The kitchen had everything we needed, the cottage was beautifully decorated and we felt at home immediately. The high-quality patio set was very comfy with great views of the coastline. Even better was watching spectacular sunsets from the rocking chairs on the front porch with full view of the water. The cottage's proximity to Cheticamp for shopping and restaurants, Baddeck, and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park make it the perfect place to stay.
This cottage is located in a spectacular area of Cape Breton. Close to hiking trails, whale watching, music, and the sea. It is quiet, and the view from the front deck is breathtaking. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. The pictures reflect reality (which isn't always the case!). We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our visit.
I spent a week here with my 20 year old son. We both loved the house and loved Cape Breton. This home is a perfect home base for exploring the western side of Cape Breton as well as Cape Breton Highlands Park, which is a ten minute drive from the house. I would highly recommend spending 2-3 days in the park. Have your camera ready when you drive through the park as the vistas from the main road are stunning. My son and I also did several of the recommended hikes in CBHP including the popular Skyline trail. The town of Chet camp (just a short drive north from the house) is home to a large French Acadian community and is worth a visit. (One local told me that 90-95% of the town’s residents speak French). Make sure to visit Baddeck which is about 1 ¼ hour drive from the Cheticamp area. Baddeck is home to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and is a neat little town located on the shores of beautiful Bras D’Or Lake.
The house was perfect for us. There is a kitchen and dining area downstairs, with a cozy adjoining sitting area. The sitting area had a couch, a couple of comfortable chairs, a TV and a good collection of movie CDs. Upstairs were three small bedrooms. Everything was as-advertised. Everything worked, everything was clean and neat.
The view from outside the house is absolutely incredible. The house is located on a small bluff so when you go onto the front porch you get an unimpeded panoramic view of the ocean as well as views of the beautiful cliffs and beach to the south. One morning I also saw both a red fox and a bald eagle from the front porch while enjoying my morning caffeine.
The home’s owner, Paul, was a pleasure to deal with. He answered all of my emails promptly and comprehensively and I generally found him to be very responsive to questions and concerns. I would very much like to return to Cape Breton in the next year and would like to stay at Paul’s home again. I would encourage any other potential visitors to Cape Breton to consider staying here as well.
We are a family of 4 (plus baby) and we simply loved this cottage! Perfectly comfortable.....spotlessly clean, well maintained, plenty of space, and fully equipped kitchen. But let's talk about the views! Absolutely breathtaking.....we could hardly tear ourselves away from the outdoor seating area. And the location was perfect for exploring the Cabot Trail and National Park.
The owner, Paul, was highly responsive and wonderful to work with.
We will definitely recommend this listing to friends and family, and we plan to return again!
We rented this property for 2 weeks for a wedding in Margaree and I was blown away by the fantastic views of the ocean and the peacefulness of the property. The house was so nice and it had a very welcome feeling to it. I loved the updates in the house and the wrap around deck. Paul the owner was so easy to deal with, he made our experience very wonderful.
There is a lot to do in Cape Breton from the Cabot Trail drive to the Fortress of Louisberg. Make sure to visit Cape Breton, and if you do you are going to want to stay at this cabin. We will be back, we were sad to leave such a wonderful place.
We absolutely loved this place! It was clean, well-appointed and situated in a perfect location for accessing many of Cape Breton's best attractions, including the small town of Cheticamp (be sure to check out the All Aboard restaurant) and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We spent hours sitting outside enjoying the view, and on our one rainy day, there was plenty to keep us entertained inside (food, TV, wireless internet and lots of reading). We highly recommend this home, and cant wait to return soon!
